Arrival (2016)

This actually looks good. I'm getting a Contagion vibe from it in how it SEEMS to focus on the procedures and organizations of world changing event.

>Jeremy Renner in a non-capeshit role.

Based.

Spoilers the story this is based on is all about this lady's relationship with her daughter and the aliens are just a framing device desu

whyaretheyhere.com/

Looks pretty average.

I'll watch it because it's Villeneuve but that trailer doesn't look to promising.

Yeah well that's how most science fiction stories work because most people don't like dry descriptions of world changing events. The novel Spin comes to mind.

It looks fucking great.

Is the source story good?

It's based on a story by Ted Chiang and yes the short stories he wrote are amazing

There's an ARG thing here: whyaretheyhere.com

What are good first contact films?

I watched Contact the other day.

the daughter she writes to doesn't exist yet, the alien language allows people to see into the future

Shouldn't the aliens being the one deciphering our language instead of waiting for us to do it all the while risking us getting frustrated like mouth breathers and nuking them?

>Americans are the good guys who just want to communicate
>rest of the world is gun-ho

lmao, you burgers are so fucking deluded

Here is your (you).

Peaceful aliens are smug cunts, they come to our planet to teach us some moral lesson, sometimes under the threat of destruction. Who invited them?

Ayylmaoshit isn't that different tbqh

Contact is great because the aliens aren't giant sperglords who shit a bunch of scary cryptic stuff into earths atmosphere. They utilise a time tested method of bringing uncontacted intelligent species into the fold.

Switzerland and New Zealand launched their nukes immediately, so it was up to the peaceful Americans to save Earth yet again.

>le woman is the top scientist in this field trope yeah nah

is this shitty rip off of the Jodi Foster movie?

It looked to me like most of the Americans were getting ready to nuke them too. Didn't you see all of the military gearing up in the trailer?

I'm sick of Amy Adams

The military isn't just for blowing shit up though. They are the ultimate doers of any given nation. If you are not sure what exactly needs to get done but you are damn well sure it NEEDS to get done, you send the military.

I've read the short story that this film is based on - don't expect a lot of action, but it is incredibly interesting, especially if you're into languages and math.

>Sup Forums mask in the trailer

But why does she need feminism?

Sign me up.

What are you fucking gay?

>aliens fly in giant terry's chocolate orange slices as a peaceful offering
>humans still manage to fuck things up

>Sup Forums mask
How new are you?

>Villeneuve's first film without a 10/10 GOAT cinematographer
>visuals look boring, sterile and unimpressive

ruh roh

At least him and Deakins are back for the Blade Runner sequel.

>implying she's even attractive anymore

I read the original story, it's dope

So that means yes.

Looks like were in for a decent sci fi flick.. i'm in

>Parking a big ass plate over major cities aroound the world simultanenously
Pretty rude 2bh

>based Jeremy and Amy Adams

yes

It looks better than 80% of trailers out right now

What is it with Aliens hovering their ships over cities and doing nothing?

> Release dates
> September1,2016 (Venice)
> November11,2016 (United States)

Smooth move, Hollywood. Way to insure everybody pirates it before it’s released....

Why the fuck wouldn’t you release it worldwide at the same time?

DO NOT TRUST ALIENS

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT

No that's not how they work at all. The premise is usually more important than relationships.

>female
>expert

WEW

Define "more important" beyond merely what the reader has more interest in?

>Directed by Villeneuve
>Starring Renner, Adams and Whitaker
not even going to bother watching the trailer famalam

preordering the tickets now

>being this new

Sup Forums man is that hacker guy we see on the news, newfriend

>inb4 aliens actually have hostile intent and while americans waste time being kuks and trying to communicate with them based russkis save the world by nuking every single ship before its too late

>quips
dopped

Mandatory reading.

I bet there will be wild assumptions that somehow magically work out. This infographic is really entry level for this idea, however I'm quite sure they haven't even gone this far into the thought process.

>it' an ayylien movies
Into the trash it goes, aliens don't exist.

>DAE Russia is evil?
nice NATO propaganda

Relax, this is not a Nolan film. Quips are ok as long as you're not overdoing it llike Marvel.

Forgot pic

>it is incredibly interesting, especially if you're into languages and math.

I've been looking for an acceptable quality copy of that image, thanks user

That would be a good twist. I don't trust aliens and I don't like it when movies have "friendly" aliens.

Fuck ET, man. Pic related is the best movie about human/extraterrestrial contact.

Fuck off, slavshit.

Pretty sure this movie is about bestiality. Single mom type succumbs to intense curiosity about squids, switching sides and running off with the squids, while ignoring the beta provider male colleague who would be the socially acceptable safe choice.

The first thing she does confronting the animals is rip her clothes off. She then becomes obsessed with them. She wants to "know" them in ways no one else can understand.

Wild guess, you are misanthropic and you project your disdain for humanity onto all sapient life.

Isn't it time for bed Mr. Rasmussen?

>tfw Jeremy Renner mans up and puts her down with a Colt .45
>burns squid aliens alive, while USA and Russia team up to nuke alien spaceships to smithereens
>move ends with "It Ain't Me" playing as Jeremy and Putin laugh in a helicopter flying towards the camera

>>>/capeshit/

Isn't it time to live miserably in your squalid commieblock?

You forgot that she dreams about them.

She's a Linguist

>its an america saves the world movie

I bet you're one of those "perfect assimilations."
I got just the thing for you.

>dry descriptions of world changing events.
This is actually what I read science fiction for desu (see Red Mars)

They might not actuall give a fuck if we nuke them though

Isn't it time to prep the bull?

where would you park?

Isn't it time to get buttfucked by America at the Olympics?

...

Based Kim

Just read the book it's based on : it's boring as fuck. And yes it's about the life of her daughter.

>high-budget, 3D tentacle porn

whats the problem we already saved world multiple times
>evil british empire
>ww1
>ww2
>cold war
>war on terror (not won yet but getting there)

I don't get it.

>yeah, that just happened :^)
>now THAT's a proper introduction xD

quip garbage

>Best linguist in the world is a 30-something attractive mom, and not some ancient eastern european jewish professor working at Oxford or Harvard

Then they don't care about us either then. Proving that there is no such thing as benevolent aliens in Hollywood.

>Amy
>Villeneuve
>science-fiction

YES PLEASE

>hired because of her skills
>when they failed she undresses asap
Proper

Contact 2: Cruise Control

>literally the plot of independence day

This
I had a history professor who was Oxford educated. It was a Russian dude who was fucking deaf and knew 26 languages

Glad to see fellow Bogdanovists.

I'm accusing you of being a Thing, from John Carpenter's the Thing. It pretends to be human in order to assimilate others.

It can only be killed via incineration, hence the cookout I'm about to have.

...

>starring Amy Adams

Because, movies with substance must be snuffed out completely. It's too easy to ride the Marvel Studios wave for that $$$$

>jewish people in film

I think we have more than enough of those as it is.

Oh, okay. I've seen the movie. I just didn't get your post.

>Aliens working with humans
not likely

except it actually makes sense in this case.

Atleast now we have a good alien invasion movie to wash the horrible taste of Independence day resurgence out of our mouths

Not him, but he was pretty clear on what he meant. You're a dumbass
