Imagine Stormbringer with less funk and more big boy riffs

Speed metal? Yeah baby!
youtube.com/watch?v=x-5bia7AA-Yhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J28mqkvzaKU

Remember only posuers hate Glam

>Speed metal? You mean bland, soulless wankery for basement dwellers? That's for fedoralords, I only listen to patrician metal such as Boris, Electric Wizard, Isis and Sunn O))). You know, good music for people who are real music fans

You have 30 seconds to post a more nu-male band than Nadja

True!

True black metal is from the 80s!

What's up with the glam posting. Feels like the nu males are trying to find a way to get into '80s metal.

Daily reminder: the golden age of true metal was from 1979 until 1991
t. 90s extremecuck nu-male

to the user who said that all those elements don't make for a black metal song or album:

that's autistic. I am talking specifically for that time period, before anything. Like it or not, Mercyful fate were the first to experiment with disharmony (falsetto vocals, complex and out of scale riffs) in heavy metal before anyone else.

Yes but they do love dressing up like girls.

But Destruction is extreme metal

Is Bon Jovi /ourguy/?
youtube.com/watch?v=omLgJe9cnCw
youtube.com/watch?v=5U6Y4xSa0HY

I'm not the same guy, but I though i'd chime in.
Can't you admit that the riffs in Satan's Fall from 1:15 to about 2:30 and the ending riffs are at least reminicent of Black Metal? Especially since it's from '82/'83? The same can be said aboit some other songs on the album like Black Funeral. Not truly Black Metal by most standards but influential enough and "evil sounding" enough to be considered 1st wave. Especially considering the lyrics.

Pretty sure Saxon, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden were doing that before MF was. Not that I don't like MF but if anything Sodom and Motorhead influenced the eventual 2nd wave sound more than MF did. MF just showed people stuff sounds spooky when you augmented your 7th chords.

Best speed metal song of all time
youtube.com/watch?v=Z6z-nxAYhGw

Nu-males prefer metal-core and extreme genres since they think it can gain them instant credibility in metal.

Glam is true patrician metal
youtube.com/watch?v=85BVnQMiFFw

thanks!

it's not a matter of taste, I am not judging about preferences as I am not naive enough to think that they can be discussed. I didn't ask anyone to like it, I am just stating what is.

Thanks based America!

Kraanium/Analepsy split is out July 1st, HYPE.

Why is brutal tech death so much better than any other death metal?

that shit sucks

I am all for glam, but post the actual heavy metal

BRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAP

That doesn't change the fact MF wasn't the first to do it. They did popularize falsetto style vocals imo but it only really happened because KD couldn't match the range of other vocalists in other bands and just stopped caring when he realized people knew him better for the falsetto tryharding anyway.

>BTDM better than Trad Slam
>BTDM better than OSDM

No.

Atomic Punk is edgier

I had dropped the first VH because compared to what I was listening at the time it sounded very tame, except for Running with the devil and Eruption.

lmao, it's so bad, it's good
youtube.com/watch?v=Aj5F8oD0VWg

just look at what you 're saying!

>MF just showed people stuff sounds spooky when you augmented your 7th chords.
>it only really happened because KD couldn't match the range of other vocalists in other bands and just stopped caring when he realized people knew him better for the falsetto tryharding anyway.

that doesn't remind you of anything at all??? AT ALL???

I can't believe you're still arguing about this. Mercyful Fate is not First-Wave Black Metal. It's not Proto-Black Metal. That's all there is to it, man. Some non-black metal interludes in a single song off Melissa just can't cut it.

I'm pretty sure the youtube channel Wolfgang Von Poserkila is actually stealing songs from /metal/

that dude is legitimately the best metal bro. It could very possibly be the first guy I subscribed too.

>Unironically putting slam over anything
Good meme

he probably posts here

Falsetto-style vocals have nothing to do with Black Metal though. 2nd-wave BM is about doing the opposite of Death Metal vocals, not some evolved form of King Diamond's voice.

Okay fair enough but I still think Sodom and Motorhead influenced the overall sound and drive of 2nd wave more.

I listened to the first two songs and I called it quits. Can't do the vocals, and it's not that interesting either

hey who posted Witch Cross in the last thread? Listening to it right now, first track sounds awesome.
Do you ever have a feeling that a record you 're about to listen to is going to be banging and you 're proven right?

GRAND PRIX

Slam is King and you are a nu-male if you disagree. Trad Slam is much better than tech-anything.

>Trad Slam
Do you mean like Devourment? Are new Slam bands qualified to have another modifier, clarifying a different nuance in sound?

>no argument
>call it bait
old as the hills, but I'm older

2nd wave BM is about doing EVERYTHING the opposite of Swedish OSDM because edgy BM teens were mad they couldn't play DM riffs first try with no hard work. I was just saying that out of all the dumb claims he made the only thing that was true was that MF and KD popularized falsetto vocals over just having fantastic head voice range.

If only Darkthrone didn't sellout after Soulside and kept playing DM

hell be fine.

ah, see? We should have clarified it is not about influence, but as a phenomenon.

so now you 're back calling my claims dumb?

What is Judas' best record?

m.youtube.com/watch?v=JgbKU7-iVHI

I guess it's just another way of saying "OG Slam," so yeah, bands like Devourment, Kraanium, Lust of Decay, Old-school suffocation, begging for incest, ECT.
Basically full blown slams without the random arpeggio sweeps and other tech wankery or Deathcore influence that plague bands like Ingested, Cytotoxin, Arcanius

Oh, okay. Yeah, Slam is already bad enough without putting a "core" suffix onto it.
I guess Brutal Death Metal is more my thing.

why doesn't everybody just STFU with their acronyms?

GTFO

epic

>Motorhead influenced the overall sound and drive of 2nd wave more.
I don't know know how popular of an opinion this is but imma throw it out anyway. You could make a case for Motörhead being the band that created extreme metal. All the earliest bands in extreme metal genres can be traced back to Lemmy
>Motörhead tries to be the dirtiest and heaviest shit around
>Makes Speed Metal
>Venom hears Motörhead and wants to be dirtier and heavier
>Makes 1st wave Black
>Bathory hears Venom and wants to be heavier and dirtier
>Fleshes out the sound and ads atmosphere
>The Norwegians hears Bathory and wants to be more ectreme/more atmo/worship and so on
>Makes second wane/"trve" Black Metal

The same with Thrash and Death
>Motörhead
>Metallica/Slayer want to be heavier
>Thrash
>Possessed/Death wanna be heavier
>Death Metal

I.E: No Motörhead, no extreme metal = Motörhead indirectly created extreme metal.

That's dumb. You should change that. What bothers you about Slam so much?
youtu.be/ImRHWgqjAHA

Blood Boil is great tho.

it's basically the "consensus"

>Motörhead indirectly created extreme metal.
wtf i hate nü-malehead now

Found the sad frogposting autismos lmao

shitting on motorhead
even a glammy like myself wouldn't do that

>Sup Forums is still okay

Nah that's pretty much the way it went but NWOBHM had a ton to do with it too.

I just feel like everything's too predictable. I would have been fine if Devourment had been the only band of it's kind, nothing about any of the other bands excite me. Even before they started making music again and Slam became an actual thing, I thought of it mostly as a joke. Deathpolka with Rhythmic Burping just isn't my thing.

Sup Forums ≠ /metal/

post more US power metal or classic true/epic, but please refrain from acronyms
