Hey let me know what you guys think about this song I just recorded. Wrote this one last year, but I never recorded it because it was about a girl I was with who ended up being totally insane. So may this song be a testimony to how delusional I was.

I really like this, shit made me want to fall asleep. Not in a bad way but in a very becoming way.
That piano intro is so simple yet so intriguing.

Hey I want to get into making some basic sample based electronic music. I'm using reaper and I understand that it's not optimized for electronic music, but i'm not a professional and no where near the point where the tiny dependencies are going to matter, from what I've been told reaper can do anything and everything ableton and fruity loops can do and besides, i'm only learning the basics and terminology for now.
But my question for now, is do I have to make stems if I want to make samples? Or can I just splice up sections the song and copy paste
Sounds like a question better suited to /prod/
Except there isn't one right now.
damn, is there usually a sticky? Because i'd make one right now, but I dont have the sticky
reaper is not the same as ableton. I use reaper to record bands only. ableton is way way better for electronic music, just crack it and look up tutorials
also you can just chop up sections of the song. don't really know what you mean by making stems in this context
2 SC threads?

We usually stick to the bandcamp threads, but we posted this song on SC tonight before we drop the full EP on the 20th just for some feedback. Tell me what ya think
Thanks. yeah I usually just use reaper to record my classical guitar playing. But well, I was playing around with the VST's and plugins. Realized that I can make beats and comp tracks to make samples etc. So I figured it can't be THAT bad for making some electronic music. It has to be possible right?
yeah it's possible and you sound like you know what you're doing enough to make it happen. that being said, nearly everyone in the industry would recommend a midi specific program like ableton/fl/logic over reaper
supposedly tycho, switched to reaper, and thats the type of music I want to make any way electronic with actual instruments. If anything i'll do it as a challenge
soundcloud.com/gavin-is-a-loser
>sample based, hippity hop, emotion al
I like that attitude. reaper is consistently getting better too. good luck!
Been doing this as a side hobby for over 6 years now. I cant stop making shitty music I have 2 albums and 2 EPs, go take a journey.

love the voice, nice lyrics man. congrats on getting 2000+ listens man ! that's something I dream about lmao
hmm.. I don't really listen to music like this and the vocal loop in the first one sounded a tiny bit off to me, but I *really* enjoyed other ones like They Speak ( which was pretty chill t b h ) and Free And Easy ( which was pretty FUNKY t b h )
oh man when I was listening to the rain ( first break song you linked ) I was like this is the stuff I listen to while I study and then it got into the fast drummy part and it really caught me off guard. loved it ! I enjoyed the variety of beats you had on your SC
very chill, made me sleepy but in the good sorta " I wanna lay back and dream about nice things " way. has anyone told you that you sound like Joji ?
interesting mix with Life Goes On ! loved that jazzy undervibe and rap in the background, although it didn't change too much during the sound it was still a nice listen
also I saw you use the same vocal sample in Hi! and Life Goes On you silly billy ! also, just a random thought, but almost sounded like I heard Wii Menu noises in Hi!. Can you confirm or deny this to sate my burning curiosity ? heard it in Wavey too
Totinoboy !!! probably one of my favorite Soundcloud people I currently follow. always love your beats man ! the one you linked was pretty sort but I liked the droney-ish background noise ( I think that's what you call it ?? idk ) also it's okay if you make trap music, you should make music as long as you enjoy it uwu
trippy, but I loved it ! been thinking about a cartoon idea I wanted to get on paper and this kinda captured the feel of it lol, thanks for giving me a reason to get off my lazy toosh and write some more

I'll release this prolly tomorrow. meeting a producer who wants me to make RnB. All of the vox music is me.it's about sex. Sue me

i would really like some feedback on this , its the first time i tried to make some dance music
It's just my personal opinion- and I am by no means at all good at mixing so seriously take it with a grain of salt- that you could maybe make the kick drum a little louder and sidechain it so that it hits a little harder. As for the bass, I think it sounds good- I'd maybe put a lowpass filter on it and just barely lower the threshold so it's a tiny bit deeper. Also, if it isn't already (I can't really tell on my speakers), center the bass in the track so that it's completely in the middle. In my experience, that always makes the bass sound cleaner.

So this is the first 'lo-fi hiphop' track I've done. Pretty much got some sick as Bud Powell (my favorite jazz pianist) and layered stuff over and had some fun. Thoughts?
soundcloud.com
And that is my EDM stuff, which I've been doing for 6 months or so. I've got a long way to go but I am having fun with the chord progressions and plucks. Also I am trying to incorporate dubstep synth techniques (growls and stuff) into a more 4/4 kick beat. Still learning.
soundcloud.com
That is my psytrance - specifically hi-tech darkpsy sort of stuff. I was right into that for a while.
All this is done on Ableton primarily with Serum and occassionally (when I can be bothered) using my ARP Axxe 1970s monosynth. I've been a musician since I was a kid but I've only in the last few years gotten into production.

Getting "If It Means a Lot To You" vibes from this, good, solid playing and vox. I feel that it kind of lags near the end since we've had the same intensity in all the instruments the whole way through. Think more in peaks and troughs. Nice work though.
