Hello Sup Forums, early 20s type 1 diabetic here...

Hello Sup Forums, early 20s type 1 diabetic here. I've had the beetus for about half of my life and still struggle with it regularly. Multiple times a week my blood glucose will crawl up or down overnight and by the time I wake up I'm already debilitated for the rest of the day. What kind of job would I be able to land without previous experience or a degree? It would have to be one that could afford me randomly not being able to go into work because of my illness. Ideally it would also provide some kind of healthcare because meds expensive. I've already tried killing myself so that option isn't really in the picture anymore. Am I basically doomed to die to my illness because I can't afford the meds once I'm taken off of my parents healthcare? I live in the U.S

bump

try ayurvedic herbs it helped my brother immensely and improved his health and saved a lot off money in the long run.but of course never go full retard and stop modern medicine treatment
if you can try eating 5 "Neem" leaves everyday
>inb4 scam

Stop crying and making excuses. I made it through a corrections academy with type 1.

OP

Get AIDS... lol i mean assistent in diating systems. Work on your diet.there are specialists to help you with your dawn symptomatic. Also count in your metabolism when working out or drinking alcohol.shit can lower your bloodsugar till 48 hours after the last drink.
Good luck!

That is the clichè typ 2 diabetic. Typ 1 are skinny fucks...still funny.

Such a shit approach to an illness that you have lmao. "Well my cancer isn't really killing me because I still go out and do things so why are people bed ridden because of it" Are you retarded?
My illness isn't managed well enough for me to gain/keep weight
My diet isn't terrible besides the fact that I should probably eat 20~30% more often. I'm a vegetarian and I regularly get protein from beans, eggs, etc etc

Yeah thats one thing kiddo.5-6 meals. 1 of it bevor bedtime.complex carbs with protein and fat. Do you get shots or gotta pump?this would determin the needed carbs.sorry for my english.

Being a diabetic really took a toll on my mental health, eating often and consistently is super rough because my often lack of appetite makes it difficult to eat/stomach food. Insulin pump

Can you not control your blood sugars? I'm a type 1 diabetic as well for 21 years now and I've never ran into this problem/

I believe you. The eating besides,it will be hard to kerp a job without showing up.except working home office or flexible workhours.so officework, maybe for the gov. Or something late night.you know.graveyard shifts when nobody gives a fuck if you do a good job, just sit around and watch a monitor.basic security.

European here, my younger brother has diabetes type one and I worry about him every day. I'm really glad that he'll never have to pay for his meds and I have no problem paying a higher tax rate for it.

You have my heartfelt sympathies OP. I don't have any advice on how to deal with it as I've never had to face it myself but I've seen my brother struggle with it every day since he was nine years old. All I can do for him is to give him the best support an older brother can give. All I can do for you is wish you the best of luck. I really hope that your country gets healthcare sorted so you can deal with your illness without needing to deal with the finances.

I can but it's tough, I've been diabetic for about half as long. If I take insulin before I eat my blood sugar goes low, regardless of if I'm taking shots or using a pump. I'm a quick eater though so I take insulin after I eat. It's very easy to make my blood sugar go low within an hour ~ an hour and a half after I eat/take the insulin. My insulin:carb ratio and insulin:correction ratio are as good as they can be, I've tried going up and down on both of them and it creates problems. My sugar typically sits a little high because it sloooooooooowly goes down over time and I'd hate to let it go low because I forgot to eat or something.
Thank you for the recommendations!
Thank you much, and yes absolutely it's an every day struggle. If your blood sugar is too high when you wake up you feel like garbage for the rest of the day but the lows are dangerous more quickly! I think the healthcare system is going to take a beating because of our president, but I hope for the best as well

It is possible to get type 1 under control and do something productive instead of feel sorry for yourself. Ive seen dirt poor inmates with type 1 do better than you

I'm a T1D and just graduated law school. You can do anything you want if you just take care of yourself, don't become a crybaby victim, and work hard. Get over it.

Norwegian Type 1 diabetic here, been for the last 12 years.
How's your sugar values on a day to day basis?
Also, your physical health/Weight?

Thats bait.

>If your blood sugar is too high when you wake up you feel like garbage for the rest of the day but the lows are dangerous more quickly!
I've seen it, way too many times. My brother will wake up having been high at night and he'll be in an outright foul mood. Mix that with the usual teenage angst and it's a recipe for disaster. He went through a period regulating his blood sugars by feel instead of testing, that ended up with a hospitalisation due to high ketone levels.

As for the lows, a few of those have been outright terrifying. I remember coming home from my first job ~6 years ago, my brother would have been about eleven, he grossly overestimated the sugar content of an ice cream. I was the only family member strong enough to carry him, so I sprinted towards the car with him where we had the glucose pen while another brother ran ahead to bring it back. That thing has stayed on his person ever since. Never thought a day at the beach could be so horrifying until then.

set the alarm clock to go off at night. My dad has type 1 and doing this really helps.

Management is different for different people. I've been working hard to manage the beetus and try to get it under control for 10 years and even though it's the best it's ever been it's still debilitating. You guys are akin to Stephen Hawking telling another sclerosis patient to just man up and do better. Ridiculous
I wake up with high blood sugars 4 days out of the week and low blood sugars 1 day out of the week, both approximately. My blood sugars are typically between 120 and 170 when I go to sleep, never low but sometimes high (200+)
Physical health isn't great but there's some exercise, I'm around 5"9 and 130 pounds
I know :p
I was hospitalized for high ketone levels 5~10 times before I got an insulin pump, it's the worst! And low blood sugars are instantly bad because the diabetic becomes less helpful getting people to know what the problem is, our brains don't work so well without proper power!
I've had issues with insomnia my entire life. If I had to fall asleep twice per night I would lose out on a lot of sleep, and I already don't get enough

go vegan immediately

I would never, haha. Vegetarian gud enuf 4 me

If you can go to a doctor and ask them about controlling your sugars. Try taking a few less units of long term insulin (ie Lantus) if you use it.

I go to an awarded endocrinologist that specializes in diabetes... I am doing my best to control them, it's not as easy as getting all the math right.
