My piss bottle 'side me at the wheel...

Fuck Chuck, Little Richard is where it's at. Chuck may have been innovative for his time, but his discography is completely skippable nowadays. Little Richard's vocals on the other hand have stood the test of time.

Little Richard's songs are all basically the same thing, Chuck Berry had a lot more variety in his arrangements and even had some interesting novelties like Tulane/Judge Have Mercy. For that of course we can thank Johnnie Johnson who came up with the arrangements and worked out the melodies to Chuck's lyrics.

Who cares about variety if it's all boring and aged like milk?

You think Tootie Fruitie doesn't sound like 1956? :^)

Long Tall Sally will always be my main rock 'n' roll jam. So much humor and so much flow in one song, it's great because it's fun

I think it sounds exactly like '56, while still holding up thanks to Richard's amazing vocals.

FWIW I think Elvis's shit has aged worse than either of them.

He sure had his own style of rock and roll

No disagreement from me. I
love me some Bo Didley, that's one underrated old-timer.

maybelline

Especially because his hits from the 50s all had that annoying slapback echo.

Took me a while to realize that song is actually about a chick who goes cold fish during sex.

Chuck was late to the stage cause he was inside some sweet punani

Tulane was about these Easy Rider-esque hippie dope dealers, it was kind of Chuck's take on the counterculture movement, something he never really understood.

Gotta love that cow.

YA DONE START BACK DOING THOSE THINGS YOU USED TO MOO.

It can be called an early form of noise rock, if you will. Much unlike Chuck Berry's melodic, jazzy sound.

Johnny Johnson was an ex-jazz arranger and Chuck Berry like most guys of his generation had been influenced a lot by big band swing.
