agreed. Favorite song was Heaven or Las Vegas. What about you user
Agreed, I'm still so happy I stumbled upon it a few years back
My favorite is still Cherry Coloured Funk, with Iceblink Luck being a strong second
Cocteau Twins are overrated
post a better band then
what the fuck is dream pop
...
i'll give you a fair reply in a hour
listening now
this, bloom and souvlaki are top 3
no particular order
Pop targeted at the LGBT community
inaudible pop
xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
the best dream pop album of all time.
that cover would have been much better
wrong
Definitely
lol no
Good top 3
Replace bloom for DC though
this song was the height of the Cocteau Twins discography desu
youtube.com
fuck yeah dude, they have a string of consistently perfect EPs from Spangle Maker to Love's Easy Tears
this
Is this the purest, most life-affirming song ever recorded?
Not even the best Cocteau Twins album.
There are no Grimes songs that come anywhere close to even some of the filler tracks on The Moon And Melodies.
Cocteau Twins is a perfect band.
Also, why no love for Fifty Fifty Clown? That and I Wear Your Ring are my shit even though Cherry Coloured Funk IS probably the best song.
youtu.be
>you will never see Cocteau Twins live
youtube.com
It's hard to even imagine that this music was made by actual human beings. It's so uncontaminated and sublime.
Ivo was nuts for not getting Liz on more This Mortal Coil tracks.
youtube.com
Yep. One of the best albums of all time.
Euphoria by Insides is also a Dream Pop favourite of mine though.
youtube.com
no this is

>later performed by Liz Fraser as
youtube.com
I like Iceblink Luck the most off that
1. fifty fifty clown
2. lazy calm
3. the spangle maker
4. athol-brose
5. lorelei
1. carolyn's fingers
2. my love paramour
3. spangle maker
4. pink orange red
5. iceblink luck
damn
Milk & Kisses >>> Heaven or Las Vegas
ehhhhhhhh
No.
This is probably the album I'm most conflicted on in my whole listening life. The lyrics are just awful but everything else sounds great.
Hi
STRAAANGE YOU NEVER KNEW
TOP 5 DREAM POP ALBUMS
1: Heaven or Las Vegas
2: 98.12.28 Otokachi no Wakare
3: Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time
4: Souvlaki
5: Blue Bell Knoll
>giving a shit about lyrics
*the most boring dream pop album of all time.
Still can't believe I listened to you 3 years ago and checked it out. I listened to the actual good CT albums recently (Treasure, Head Over Heels, Victorialand) and still after liking them and giving this another shot the above statement holds true. Why is this such a meme? Is it the good title?
you'd get fucked up if you said that shit in my neighborhood, pal.
Blue Bell Knoll shits on those "actual good" CT albums you just listed.
do you like the albums after this/blue bell knoll?
I don't have any problems with the lyrics. I think most of them are pretty interpretable, which I often like. But It may be different if you're a native English speaker, I don't know.
nah just those I listed + the 1985's EP I can't be bothered to check the name of. Is it worth it or just a transition album to Heaven?
What did you like on other CT albums that you felt was missing on Heaven or Las Vegas?
Blue Bell Knoll is my 2nd favorite Cocteau Album of the 4-5 I've heard. My first is HoLV. BBK has Liz in her element as a vocalist.
both
*meant to say I've just heard those I listed, whoops
That's literally an nth rate early New Order clone.
shit taste
If I had to pinpoint it I'd say the drums and impacts of those just sound much better on Treasure and the like. Production just sounds "richer" and they're trying to make music that's not just "for chill in the background" if that doesn't sound too vile. Something like Persephone also doesn't exist on HOVL to my knowledge. But it's just that I like all of the songs on Treasure since their all unique in their spectrum where I can't find a song I like on HOLV
1. Heaven Or Las Vegas
2. Fotzepolitic
3. Cherry-Coloured Funk
4. Iceblink Luck
5. Pur
6. Carolyn's Fingers
7. Know Who You Are At Every Age
8. The Itchy Glowbo Blow
9. Summerhead
10. Alice
then you'll enjoy blue bell knoll a lot more
the love's easy tears and spangle maker EPs are really quick and all great songs
Unironically the best top 5 without explanation ive seen.
>If I had to pinpoint it I'd say the drums and impacts of those just sound much better on Treasure and the like. Production just sounds "richer"
wtf...The drums on Treasure sounds way too metallic and the production as a whole sounds cold, where HOLV have a great warmth to the production.
>The drums on Treasure sounds way too metallic
(not that guy) Well that's an element of ethereal wave and Cocteau Twins were one of the pioneers of that genre, nothing strange there.
>wtf...The drums on Treasure sounds way too metallic and the production as a whole sounds cold
THATS EXACTLY WHY I PREFER TREASURE
Only one great song
>BBK has Liz in her element as a vocalist.
Her performance on Carolyn's Fingers is absolutely insane.
1. Heaven or Las Vegas
2. Euphoria
3. Shimmering, Warm & Bright
4. Wings of Joy
5. Reading, Writing and Arithmetic
Souvlaki is more Shoegaze to me.
>production as a whole sounds cold
Thats exactly why its so damn good
how is RWaA not jangle pop??
To each his own I guess
I classify Jangle Pop as an under-genre to Indie pop, and in my opinion The Sundays are more dreamy than regular indie Pop.
But I agree it's jangly as fuck.
>Shimmering, Warm & Bright
Bel Canto is underrated as heck
100% Agreed
youtube.com
if you like dream pop then listen to mew - frengers and tell me what you think
I always loved Fade Into You, but never bothered to check this album out.. I'll give it a try now
not even close to being true dude
>Bells Ring (also the best song on the album)
>Five String Serenade
>Blue Light
>So Tonight That I Might See
It's much more Indie Pop than Dream Pop, but luckily I like the former very much too. Both Frengers and And The Glass Handed Kites are great albums.
Lazy Clam is best Cocteaux song
The purest dream pop, it feels like melting into buttery, molten ice cream
lol what
what are some dream pop or shoegaze that has a sort of syrupy saccharine sound like BBK/HOLV-era Cocteau Twins? something that might give me diabetes just by listening to it
Now this comment is something interesting that could be sent to neuroscientists for research. Like how you just connected the sound of certain music to certain taste. Why is that so? Does during eating of sugary food those taste buds activate same part of brain as does dream pop of BBK/HOLV? Hmmm
Did you even have literature classes in high school, user?

obviously
I love this album, but I'd like to find more ambient pop
Underrated fav of mine
I guess you've heard Earwig - Under My Skin I Am Laughing?
youtube.com
Basically the same band.
His Name Is Alive - Livonia is great in my opinion too. youtube.com
I remember when this came on on my mp3 while delivering morning paper in a dark apartment house 8 years ago. That was pretty scary.
You could also check out 1 Mile North - Minor Shadows
youtube.com
You can both look up Northern Picture Library - Alaska. Pretty Ambient and you'll get a crippling diabetes.

This was supposed to be an answer to this
>this complete lack of appreciation for the best track, Pitch The Baby
it's not dream pop, but the Strawberry Switchblade LP is sickeningly sweet.
