it is accurate if you don't like the album because your tastes go about as deep top40 hits and ministry of sound compilations.
acknowledging this album is overblown hugely mostly by people that do not listen to it anywhere near as much as they claim, much like swans in general, but it is very good. groundbreaking even.

This. The joke is that the reviewer is stupid and behind the times because he can't understand why Soundtrack for the Blind is a good album. But the premise falls flat on its face because it really is a shitty album and 2.7 isn't very far below an accurate score.

I'm not a big Swans fan to begin with. I'd still take Soundtracks for the Blind over something like Filth, as Filth is one of the few albums that irritated me start to finish. Soundtracks has its irritating moments, mixed with some strokes of genius, but overall it's just a big, numbing and melancholic cacophony of stupidity.
