Ryukyu is not Japan?

"Okinawa"/Ryukyu should become independent, and return to being a Chinese ally. They only suffered under Japanese yoke.

>Commenting on the pervasiveness of his own culture while on a trip to Indonesia, the Nobel Prize-winning poet Rabindranath Tagore wrote, “I see India everywhere.” A traveler to Okinawa today from continental Asia, might well say, “I see China everywhere.”

>Commenting on the significance of the year 1372, George H. Kerr, in his “Okinawa: The History of an Island People,” wrote that “it marked the beginning of a formal relationship between the court of China and the Ryukyu Islands that was political, cultural and economic in character, and was destined to be maintained without interruption for 500 years.” By and large, it was a hugely beneficial arrangement for the kingdom.

>A community of Chinese craftsmen, officials and specialists in specific scholastic fields were sent by the imperial government to assist Okinawans in the running of their affairs. The newly arrived immigrants were well-received, especially by officials grateful for the transmission of expertise that would significantly raise levels of both civic administration and civilization.

>Okinawa fell under the heel of Kagoshima’s Satsuma clan after its invasion of the kingdom in 1609.

>Extracting the lion’s share of the profits and imposing harsh taxes on Okinawa, the Satsuma invaders inflicted unspeakable suffering. Their monopolizing avarice and insensitivity to the well-being of Okinawans was expressed by the Okinawan scholar Iha Fuyu, when he wrote, “The Okinawans must be compared with the cormorants of the Nagara River in Japan; they are made to catch fish that they are not permitted to swallow.”

>The Chinese officials and craftsmen living in Kume — disseminating skills in governance, shipbuilding, food preparation, music and religion — were creating a new social ecology. Promising young Okinawan men, initially recruited from the royal household and families of high-ranking retainers, were eligible to enroll in the Kuo Tzu Chien, a school for foreign students in the imperial Chinese capital. The institution served to facilitate smooth diplomatic relations between China and its tributary states and, in the case of the Ryukyu Kingdom, promote stronger trading ties. The school taught ethics, history and poetry, but also an appreciation of the fine arts and the mastery of the civilized discourse so valued by the Chinese. The two or three years Okinawan students spent in China exposed them to not only the intricacies of diplomatic language, but also the administrative system in China, which would eventually influence bureaucratic practices in the kingdom.

>Chinese influence would spread beyond the waterfront quays, the cultural and civic workshop of Kume Village and royal chambers of Okinawa, seeping into remote villages and outer islands, where it would blend with indigenous culture as well as social and religious life. Even festivals such as dragon-boat racing, a popular event in southern China, were adopted by coastal villages and are still practiced today.

They are ethnically a Japonic subgroup

They are living proof of our polynesian roots.

But they are culturally more influence from later Chinese dynasties like Korea and Vietnam

Japan is only Han and Tang times mostly.

If they want Independence, then sure. But they should be prepared to become a Chinese aircraft carrier

I think it is more autonomy that they want. Not full independence.

Probably includes the removal of bases, tho.

The bases are whats protecting them from the Chinese.

They are literally dumb-asses.

Ive met some amazing Okinawan godesses though. They are either ugly abbo looking or look like exotic godess island queen

all lefty demonstrations in Okinawa have been sponsored by Chicomm

is there any evidence supporting that?

On the other hand, there's nothing inherently wrong with that. Syrian terrorists are also supported by America, as well as Tibet and Uyghur independence forces.

>The bases are whats protecting them from the Chinese.

I'd say that the bases are what would make them innocent victims in case of Chinese strikes against said bases.

China would not attempt landing operations against Okinawa, but would want to take out the US bases there preemptively with massive missile strikes. This means a lot of civilian casualties among the people on the island.

I think maybe South Koreans clay?
US base in Okinawa there are lots of Korean words that I can't read.
Please tell me what means by that in pic

pro-USA conservatives are fucking cancerous like you, How come be able to have such silly thoughts while you have the eyes to see history textbook's 20pages from its end

Why koreans?

vive le okinawa libre

>okinawa demonstration against the US base and Osprey airplanes
alright Zhang

No. It belongs to us now.

>Why koreans?
because germans are more intelligent than me

oh

Make Alamanni become independent.

According to RyukyuShimpo, newspaper in Okinawa, Okinawan who wants to independent from Japan is only 2.6%.
RyukyuShimpo is known as a left-wing newspaper. Maybe, real rate is more low.

The real question is, how many percent of Okinawa are ethnic 琉球

悔しいのう、悔しいのうw

きも

Are you actually using the japantimes as a source? Never been to Japan, but even I can tell just how biased left they are by the articles you see from the posted about various topics. Literally run by a bunch of western expats and probably a few extremely left-wing Japanese, everything they post is more or less crying about the state of x in Japan, and basically asking why can't things be like they were back home in the west. Don't understand at all why these people go to a different country if they just want to turn it into the place they left.

devolution -> autonomy -> independence -> enemy

never alllow even the first step

I hope they are Chinked and get inpregnanted

Actually, Okinawa being part of Japan is their will. They had a chance for independence when America decided to release it in the 70's, and yet they chose coming back to Japan.

japan is a failed state burdened with debt it will never manage to repay

Since Jeju Island of South Korea and Okinawa of Japan are Sister Islands They Have Some Common Activities. And Lots of Okinawans are Being Anti-Japanese Government They Get Along with South Koreans well in Some Way.

So is Italy, but we learned to not give a fuck.

Okinawa and Kyushu are one of the best places for Korean criminals to do their illegal business desu

Arent japanese yakuza all koreans or something?
