Ok Sup Forumsoys, I'm a fairly good HEMA duelist and have gotten myself a new sword, as the only one broke. So far I have had three swords, named Harugrim, Longclaw, and an unnamed new one.
I want a sword name that's not pulled from a book/tv show.
How common is it for Hema people to name their swords? Because that seems like the faggiest thing I have ever heard. Matt Easton would roll in his grave.
Parker Ross
Regenyei, Einsifer, or do you have one of those faggot synthetic feders?
James Carter
It's not common, no one does it unless there's a hell of a story behind it.
I know a guy who damn well should name is sword 'thumbslayer' [he's broken two thumbs with it through gauntlets so far] but that's the only kind of naming that happens.
tl;dr op is a faggot.
Easton Evans
Everyone in my circle names their primary sword. A bunch of them started off goofing around in college after watching GoT, and they started a local chapter. We dick around, but we're not bad (I think; we've never gone out to real competitions, since they're all too far away).
Brody Sanchez

Luke Nelson

Where are you? There's likely a real group nearby.
Which manual do you work out of? Are you Fiorre tradition, or Lichtenhaur?
Use the 'ultimate force' helmets, they're the best by far, get the back-of-the-head protector separately.
Joshua Lewis
That was far too quick, what a waste; it's not a bad name. Was expecting "Fagfuck" or "Sword McSwordface."
Xavier Thompson
Pilgrim
David Baker
There is a real group 2 hours away, but mostly everyone is too broke to do it too seriously; I'm naming my sword especially now as we just upgraded to steel. Hence why I wanted a more original name. We've been doing German Longsword, so taking everything from the Holy Roman Empire that applies. And I'll look into the helmets.
