Imagine the Beatles figure out their differences and are able to free themselves from the management and the label and the band never breaks up until George Harrison's dead (Lennon is never killed in this scenario).
What changes? Is future Beatles efforts just their solo albums mashed together? Or would they fade into irrevelancy?

Imagine.....

They'd continue to do well unto disco came along (which it most likely still would) and then they, like almost all the 60s and early 70s rock bands would either change their style to cater to the new market or slowly slip from the limelight. They'd still be seen as the ultimate band though, considering The Rolling Stones are still considered one of them and are still touring on a regular basis.

they fizzle out into obscurity after being exposed as pedophiles

what if wiley and dizzee never had a fall out?
bette ryet, esco never died and titch beat the case

Brian Wilson never has a mental breakdown and released the his fully realized version of Smile in 1969, giving the Beatles motivation to stay together and release an album that ends with Carnival of Light

Damn...

They'd continue releasing solid albums throughout the 70's and 80's. Nothing as good as their 60's stuff, but better than the other legacy acts who have continued to make music. Maybe they'd release one more GOATish album in the late 70's.

Also they'd probably put on a hell of a live show.

imagine what coltrane would have done if he hadn't died in the 60s

>What changes

More guest musicians (The jamming with Jimi Hendrix on the remakes of I Want You (She's So Heavy) And Something are not to be believed!)

They would show Pink Floyd how to record DSOTM correctly and actually collaborate with them on that project. (And the lyrics wouldn't be so damned depressing)

And having such guests like Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne play on the remake of Helter Skelter.

There would also be more experimental sound collages like Revolution # 9 (It was John's band in the first place so Yoko would be a co-collaborator of sorts)

They would expand and experiment with all different types of music including Jazz, Baroque, Opera and Country.

After hearing The Ramones they would, for a brief period go back to putting out the kind of music they did between 63-66, but with a harder, morel pronounced edge.

While they might cover some early to mid 70s funk they would AVOID disco like the plague.

They would not only come up with a concept album that would work and make sense, they would even write a rock opera. (But with a HAPPY ending because,after all, this is THE BEATLES)

Basically whatever happened to the Stones.

The only difference is that, in such a universe, we wouldn't revere their 60s work as highly as we do today. Sgt. Pepper's would be considered a piece of 60s excess clouding good songwriting, and the White Album would be considered rather bloated. People would realize that George's experiments with Indian raca were fucking shit (Love You To, Within You Without You).

They probably would've had one really damn good album though.

Years ago I read a piece about what would have happened if Brian Epstein had never heard of the Beatles. Basically "the sixties" never happened, and Ringo became a hairdresser.

Hard rock Beatles, heavy metal Beatles, prog Beatles and punk Beatles.

>George's experiments with Indian raga were fucking shit

Fuck off.

They would've done a Sgt Pepper's tour, and George would have transposed much of the string arrangements onto loud, psychedelic guitar. John, Paul and George would have done a career-spanning acoustic unplugged special for MTV.

>There's to many good songs on white album so it sucks

The Stones are still pretty revered for their 60s work man.

>George's experiments with Indian raca were fucking shit

They go to shit like the Beach Boys when Paul is given too much power.

>the White Album would be considered rather bloated
You mean like now?

John=Brian
Paul=Mike
George=Carl
Ringo=Al

How did I do?

Bump

This, yes! And, knowing them, probably all in one album, too.

>John is Brian despite thinking oboes are gay and hating any rock music that isn't yelling at a mic

try again

That sounds retarded

They probably would have had a similar path as The Stones did in the 70s and beyond
Probably would have had at least a couple more big albums in the 70s before trying to incorporate disco into their sound. After their attempts to remain relevant in the 80s became laughable, they would set into the role of elder statesmen of rock n roll, and probably compete with The Stones to be the biggest and the best old man super band still going.

>1991
>grunge Beatles

>1998
>nu metal Beatles

>1985
>Hip-hop Beatles

>are able to free themselves from the management and the label and the band never breaks up until George Harrison's dead
That would only work if Brian Epstein had remained alive until, at least, 1990.

They would be into prog rock in the 70s, and, in the best case scenario, they wouldn't let Pink Floyd become more popular than them. Eventually, disco would appear, but later than in our timeline (about early 80s), and, at Paul's insistence, they would try to work it out. Then some back to roots albuns and they would become kings of techno by 1990, making a mix of Depeche Mode, Cure and Billy Idol albuns

>management and label having anything to do with their breakup
Are you retarded?

>2015
>mumble rap Beatles

>he fails to recognize the impact Brian Epstein had on The Beatles and on managing their egos
And calls me the retarded...

McCartney specifically cited Allen Klein's management as one of his reasons for breaking up with The Beatles.

But they broke up because they were hating each other because they literally spent every day together for like 8 years, Label had nothing to do with it.

It was really only an animosity towards Paul the rest of them had. All of them besides Macca played on Imagine.

...

No
John/Paul=Brian
George=Carl
Ringo=Al
The beatles didn't have a fucking Mike Love

Raindrop, droptop, Ringo Starr is on top top

imagine if cliff never died and lars left his spot as a drummer and instead worked as a producer or some shit

Cliff was the one to initiate the stylistical change in Metallica, so we'd get Load/Reload faster

;_;

as long as AJFA and TBA don't exist, their first 2 still exist, we get more bass stuff i'm good

They become just as washed up as the Stones and The Who and we don't get Paul, George and Johns really good solo albums. Shit timeline.

Yoko = Mike Love

This kills britpop

What would happen to King Crimsons legacy if they stopped at Red?

I'm always interested in the idea of
>What if TVU kept on doing experimental music
They literally did Noise Rock a decade before anybody would even touch it. I'm super interested what new ideas who have spawn out from cale.

Probably a post rock album

Vinnie Paul is shot instead of Dimebag.

What would Dylan's next album have been like if he never had the motorcycle crash?

They'd still dissolve after a couple years. If you really want this scenario to happen you have to keep Brian Epstein alive.

sucking on my ding dong for 32 minutes

He would make killer country rock

Always felt Hendrix would have a career like Herbie Hancock, but with guitar memes instead of key-tars

He'd make a collab record with John Lennon in the 70s

>tfw no awesome proto-punk record from Eddie Cochran

>Hendrix, Emerson, Lake & Palmer

>Hendrix playing on this
>Hendrix playing with Michael Jackson on Beat It and Black or White

>Dave Mustaine is never kicked from Metallica
>Metallica just disbands few months later

>Hendrix, Emerson, Laura & Palmer

IMAGINE JIMI IN A G3 WITH FRIPP AND IOMMI

clap ya hanzz

I'll have a go at this....
1970: No new albums.
1971: Album 1 (early/mid 1971), they want to go further with the Abbey Road style and are now influenced by prog like King Crimson. George, John, and Paul each have ~15 minute segments of songs and/or medleys. Ringo has a drum solo interlude. Turns out to be an influential progressive rock album but not a pop success.
1972: Album 2 (early 1972), still prog-inspired but a bit more folky and soft like their solo albums from that time. Pacing is more like a typical album but a few songs exceed 5 minutes. Regarded as a fan-favorite.
Album 3 (late 1972), they feel a little nostalgic and create a "Surf's Up" -style art/psych pop album. Influenced largely by Rubber Soul and Revolver but dreamier and slightly more progressive.
1973: Album 4 (mid 1973) Despite their solid releases, the Beatles have become less relevant since 1969. In hopes to change this, Paul convinces the band to shift to a more glam rock-inspired sound for this album. They redefine their appearances in an attempt to make this the next Sgt. Peppers, but it ultimately fails as they're following mainstream trends instead of "underground" ones by this point. Still, they have 2 or 3 successful power pop tunes and a fan-favorite hard rock song.
1974: Album 5 (early/mid 1974), with the most success they've had since the late 60's, the Beatles cash in on the same kinda sound as their 1973 album. There's some slight funk and krautrock influence though. Overall the album's songwriting is only decent and the band's just not as revered as they used to be. By the end of the year, the Beatles quietly break up but remain friends. George, John, and Yoko form a proto-drone rock band the following year and create a Sup Forumscore album. Paul tries out being a pop songwriter and joins a supergroup in the 80's. Ringo retires from music and eventually commits suicide.

>Ringo retires from music and eventually commits suicide.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

What if Kurt never died?
What if Grandmaster Flash never did The Message?
What if Disco never went big?
What if The Ramones took on a more Television-like sound?
What if UK Punk never needed to happen?

>What if Kurt never died?
He'd eventually had to face his problems and go to a rehab. Afterwards he'd break up with Courtney Love and disband Nirvana. He'd become recluse for a while and make folk music, but also collaborate a lot with some artists like REM but would also play drums on some Foo Fighters songs. By the end of the 90's he'd reactivate Nirvana but his solo act would become more respected.
He'd die eventually of heroin overdose in 2005.

Oh yeah? FUCK YOU!

You come here and criticize somebody who contributed to the thread and yet you offer NOTHING!

YOU'RE RETARDED, FAGGOT!

friend of mine likes to imagine a scenario where Syd onlyleft pink floyd on his own after DSoTM and stayed mostly fine, or at least not as fucked as he was, so Wish You Were Here was a lot more focused on the anti music industry aspect than the remembering Syd aspect, resulting in Shine On You Crazy Diamond never getting made and instead the band puts out a 25 minute version of Welcome To The Machine that kickstarts industrial music a bit early.

What if krautrock never happened?
What if Jeff Buckley didnt die?
What if Frank Zappa was still alive?

They would have made the GOAT prog album in the 70s

Would they be able to keep releasing 2 albums a year?

Would they have ever gotten back together if John was never kill

>Hendrix & Hancock

If there was no shooting, probably.
If there was a shooting and John survived it, no.

WHY CAN'T THIS BE OUR REALITY

I remember reading that the thing that triggered Paul into officially leaving the band, thus ending The Beatles was The Long And Winding Road, for the Beatles to make an album after Abbey Road, Let It Be should have never existed and instead it would have its material scattered across the next albums so it doesn't get wasted.

I feel like everyone would just have gone to make some solo projects, Lennon would have likely made Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, George would have All Things must Pass, Paul would have made his debut and Ram but save Band On The Run material for the next Beatles album, everyone gets together again and they release another acclaimed album and go on a tour, depending on how things went on it they would have kept up the band or just move on.

Mad

your thinking of I'm the greatest

Only thing I care about is a possible second (TRUE) Mayhem album. The murder attracted way too much attention to black metal, bringing tons of label interest/money and the hordes of opportunist trendhoppers that follow. A living Euronymous could exert an elitist influence on the 'scene,' calling out posers like Dimmu Borgir, while also pushing the musical boundaries forward with the best musicians he could find as on DMDS. I think we would have something like DsO but better and in late '90s.
