Also Distant Worlds, the new Domina game,

Nier Automata
As far as Distant Worlds goes:

As a guy that listened to ALL (yes, thats right all), gamegear, master system, and sg-1000 songs, the best video games soundtracks are:
Ristar (game gear):

youtube.com
Golden Axe (Master system)

youtube.com
Running Battle (master system)

Alien Storm (master system)

Why did you listen to all of them? Do you have autism or something?
>Why did you listen to all of them? Do you have autism or something?
I did this because I like chiptune but didnt had alot of songs at my pc.
I started to remember of good sms songs like the golden axe ones, and some alien storm ones and decided to try all master system songs.
Other things that made be try all the songs:
1- The system had just few games.
2-Its easier to find all the songs (sms power has them)
3-The songs have an small size.
Alright I thought you listened to like 1000s of games lol
>Alright I thought you listened to like 1000s of games lol
Master system had 341 games according to wikipedia.
I would never do that with snes as some example
So did you use a mod player?

Perhaps the greatest game ever made, certainly one of the best mechanically and in design. Soundtrack kind of sucks though, it is the one weakness of the game.
>So did you use a mod player?
Winamp with an plugin

Just listening to this now, so good, honestly, like most soundtracks on here, they really transcend 'video game music' to 'serious' good music
Based user
Still, missed my favorite

Unparalleled taste ITT
Bit of an odd question but is it weird to like the soundtracks more than the game? I grew up in the Xbox/PS2/Gamecube era and 360/PS3/WII after that, so in those games i'm pretty well versed, but older games, say, FF7, I much rather just listen to the soundtrack.
Don't get me wrong, I like those games (halfway through FF7, thought this would be hard, it's easy as shit wtf) but I like that era of games the best I talked about. I still plan on playing a lot of said classic games but idk, I prefer to just listen to their soundtracks
That said, I do love classic PC games, love playing them (when I can get them to run..)
Also, if it hasn't been mentioned yet
is homeworld 2's soundtrack actually as good as the original?
i dont even remember it desu but the music in homeworld 1 was ridiculously good
>Comfiness intensifies

Persona 4 is best
>JRPGs

God tier taste
Donkey Kong Country
I always thought that the Gran Turismo series had great Jazz, Lounge, House and other Electronic music even though it's a shitty driving simulator physics-wise compared to Forza Motorsport, Asseto Corsa, and Project Cars, for example, but it was always fantastic in its atmosphere, ambience and presentation.
Also, Marvel VS Capcom 2 because I'm apparently a sucker for slick Jazz.
There should be more Jazz in soundtracks for everything, videogames or otherwise. Free Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Jazz-Hop, Jazz-Metal, Acid Jazz, etcetera...
Megaman 2 Woodman. Nice.
My bad, I meant to reply to the OP.
Could end up being this when it's officially released
youtube.com
proper sequel never
does this count?

It's not that Tetris music.
And neither is this. Do you guys still wave vapor?
Yes, and it's damn good.
My man.
The melody in Big Boy's Call is one of my all time favorites even outside of game OSTs.
The game might have been disappointing but they got Brian Eno and did that fancy 'procedurally generated music' shit
