I'm thinking rappers such as MF DOOM would be fitting.
What are some great rappers out there that aren't all just hype, auto tune and meaningless lyrics

MF Doom is a synonim of meaningless lyrics
I was trying to make an existential rap chart last night. Otherwise:
Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons You Paint That Shit Gold
youtube.com
also this
His word play is too much for you
Wordplay can be meaningless.
No
Fucking what? Give me an example.
his ill rhymes are over your head son. how could a scrub like you be expected to understand Strange Ways is anti-war and American hypocrisy? all his wordplay has meaning, he raps about life
Sad Clown Bad Dub II is damn good, too. Especially if you're in a dark place. DEFINITELY Atmosphere's most underrated work. It was supposed to get a full album release, making it for their sophomore work, but they didn't like how the sound quality came out so they released it as a touring CD.
Being a huge DOOM fan i can easily add jonwayne to the list of rappers that are above average. He produces beats from experimental to traditional. lyrically his rhymes and topics shy away from generic.

Strange Ways is literal as fuck
bruh left
I was so hype for prhyme, too bad they fucking suck.
I guess to add to your list
CYNE
Doppelgangaz
Blu
Cunninlynguists
Count Bass D
Company Flow
Pharaoh Monch
and don't forget the classics, OP
Why? 90% of his songs are just random worldplay, double rhymes and lines that doesn't connect with each other. Basically freestyles. I see it as meaningless.
least literal song on madvillainy
Eyedea & Abilities, as well as Eyedea's solo album:

Yeah, sure
>They pray four times a day, they pray five
>Who ways is strange when it's time to survive
Woah, what did he mean by that... So deep
Also lupe fiasco is lyrically above DOOM.
royce da 5'9 has underrated wordplay and flow.
but he can be a bit "wordy" on his tracks. you can get royce fatigue pretty quick.
Elzhi, Black Thought, Phonte, Fabolous, Scarface, Masta Ace, Mos def, Qtip.

i haven't listened to Hopsin much so i'll have to check him out.
If you want a female MC Jean grae is fun. Her newer stuff is more experimental than expected
Rejjie Snow is another talented mc.
That was interesting. I remember listening to "This Week" years back. Not a fan of the FX on her vocals.
