Most recent downright appalling thing I've seen was a woman whose baby went into cardiac arrest at 3 months old and was officially dead for an hour...the fact that he survived was a miracle no doubt (10% survival rate) but he suffered brain injury and now cannot ever do anything. It was an obvious "pull-the-plug" situation, happened to my cousin's baby a few months ago.
