Korean cinema

Been watching some Korean movies lately, most recently The Man from Nowhere which was pretty good. What else do you recommend/just talk in general.

I saw the devil.

No Tears For The Dead

this, same director as OP, pretty good film aside from some plot points and the engurishu

I liked it better than Man From Nowhere tbqh

...

I think they're pretty much on par, the action in Tears is a lot stronger.

Hwayi: A monster boy is pretty solid, so is Blood Ties.

I Saw the Devil was really good

actually It's Bloody Tie, not Blood Ties.

A well done copy of The Godfather

Go Ji Jeon/The Front Line for a good Korean War movie.

DLing all of these so far

I didn't like it that much but I thought the subversive ending was great.

Nameless gangster is alright.
The Yellow Sea was pretty good from what I remember, and there's Taegukgi which is about the korean war.

Adam Wingard, who directed The Guest and is amking Blair Witch is doing the remake of I Saw the Devil. Could it be remake kino?

If you're up to watching a one-season tv-series I can recommend Heartless City.

Great acting, soundtrack and cinematography

Memories of Murder, A Bittersweet Life, and A Hard Day. Only romance I've seen is My Sassy Girl and it's fine if you're into that stuff.

Saw Memories of Murder recently which was fantastic. Never seen a Bong Joon-ho movie I didn't like. Why does Korea seem to put out so many quality movies? Or is it just that we don't hear about the not so good ones?

Check out a site called KissAsian for all your asian cinema needs. You can stream or download, flicks and series are good quality with hardcoded eng subs.

The Wailing, A Bittersweet Life, Memories of Murder

Castaway on the Moon if you want something that isn't an edgy crime thriller.

>A Hard Day
underrated, forgot about that one.

IRIS

I've been putting that off for a while, is it that good?

Haven't seen Breathless but it's meant to be a really good drama too.

Save the green planet is surreal as fuck

Well the original was a piece of shit, so it's not like it can be any worse.

I'm certain there's a lot of trash that just gets filtered out as far as shit that gets talked about overseas. I mean, if you've ever seen Korean television dramas, most of them are fucking horrible.

They don't put out that many good films. The same 15 movies get mentioned in these threads every time.

this, but all the same they haven't been putting out as many good ones recently as around 2010

A little out of date but this was made on Sup Forums a year or so ago

Anyone know the name of the highschool drama about some kid being bullied? he snaps near the end and tries to kill one of the kids if I recall correctly

Mr Vengeance>Lady Vengeance>Oldboy
Just getting it out of the way now.

Going by the Book was so goddam fun.
>ywn be that autistic

>mfw watching 71: Into the Fire

Holy fuck, Koreans don't pull any punches with their war movies

Confession of Murder
The Terror Live
The Berlin File
A Dirty Carnival
A Tale of Two Sisters
Secretly, Greatly

>not watching some high class North Korean kino

Any more like New World?

>is it that good?
It's good. If you're a NEET, or dream of innawoods, then it's that good.

The Chaser

Nameless Gangster is pretty similar

A Dirty Carnival too, though these are really just similar in that they are "rise and fall" gangster films

Running Man

props to user for making this list

I'll give it a shot, wish i didn't lose my account on asiatorrents since it's hard as fuck to find decent rips of korean movies elsewhere.

Only correct answer

A Company Man

There's a big elefant in this threat, and it's called OLDBOY

Commitment

One of the best movies of the year so far, from the director of The Chaser and The Yellow Sea. Can't wait for the bluray

no there's not.

if OP says he's been watching korean movies lately, i expect that he's already seen oldboy

That's assuming too much. You don't know OP. Yeah, maybe he did saw it. Maybe he saw many of the films we're posting, but we don't know, so we shouldn't skip.

this was so good. how can westenr horror even compete

Just saw Memories of Murder and it was good, and planning on watching Joint Security Area tonight, they're both on mubi if you want to just get the free month and watch them.

it can't. that's why there were dozens of hollywood horror movie premises stolen from Asia 10 years ago, none of which managed to be better

Breathless and A dirty Carnival are pretty good

also come at me but Lady Veangance > oldboy

why do people always talk about oldboy and never the rest of the trilogy?

3-Iron is pretty solid Romance film

if you want wincest watch Pieta

>Thread full of garbage action-thrillers
my fucking sides

youfucked up

Watched A Violent Prosecutor the other day. Mediocre.

>literally every korean is a serial killer

Is this movie based on reality?

A cup 99% full of water and 1% of vodka is still a cup full of water

yeah some are edgy cashing out of good revenge films.

check these 2 out:

No Mercy for the rude
and No Mercy 2010

also Thirst is pretty good

shit meant to reply to

dirty carnival
a bittersweet life

the most underrated movie is NAMELESS GANGSTER

No it's not.

more like you didnt know how to do shit

why the fuck aren't you guys mentioning The Wailing. That movie is top 5 best korean films. PERIOD

It's been mentioned multiple times
these
were easiest to find

i knew but why go through this shit when you can tell me

because it took more effort to type out "sauce," fill out the captcha, and click post than to click on an image 3 times.

my mouse's right link isn't working so i would have to download and reupload the image in a new tab. no thanks amigo

Torrents are dead for into the fire and Guns and Talks.
Could anyone recommend a place to download?

>I was too lazy
but what you did took more effort
>b-but my mouse's right link isn't working
how convenient that you just now mention this, I wonder how you would download the image in the first place then?

just admit you didn't know how to reverse search and move on

i just click on it and swipe

murmur murmur
fine

There is an unrealistic part in this movie but so is 71 Into The Fire so as long as you can put that aside, it is a great movie.

Blockbusters like Assassin, The Thieves, and Veteran were also pretty good but they're relatively new.

>LMAO DUDE DEGENERACY
kys

man from nowhere was really shit compared to other korean cinema

but not compared to other korean action movies, except mavie The Yellow Sea

plebos

Well this time watch it with your wife's son at 1.25 speed so you might have a chance to finish it.

I HATE WHITE PEOPLE WATCHING OUR COUNTRY MOVIE. 씨발 백인 새끼.
