Well, guys like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Ali Akbar Khan were Muslim so talent/quality is definitely there. That being said, I think a pretty big part of them having good music comes from the enormous Indian Classical Music influence, which itself is not inherently Muslim at all. Also I think if Nusrat was still alive and he was near ISIS, ISIS would probably kill the guy for singing about Allah in a more friendly manner.
