Roeper: Critics Graded ‘Ghostbusters’ on a Curve

hollywoodintoto.com/roeper-critics-ghostbusters-biased/

>Roeper officially dubbed the “Ghostbusters” reboot a “horrifying mess.” Yet the film scored an impressive 73 percent “fresh” rating over at RottenTomatoes.com from film critics.

>“I find it hard to believe that after having sat through that dreck, that three quarters of the critics out there really saw that as a fine example of a reboot of a pretty classic, legendary motion picture. It was just bad,” Roeper said.

>“If anybody in their review says, ‘it has good intentions,’ and ‘this is progress,’ … how condescending is that to the filmmakers?” Roeper said. “That’s a sexist, condescending review.”

>He also savaged those who claimed he wasn’t the right person to review it. Some argued that, because he’s a man, he wasn’t film’s target audience.

>“Great, then we should have five-year-olds reviewing ‘Finding Dory,'” Roeper cracked.

This guy's alright.

do any of you fags even know who roeper is? he is such an unbearable twat who is just trying to get his name in print.

Honestly I found this movie to be pretty average. I'm a huge ghostbuster fan and even have my own proton pack and uniform from the first movie.

Then again I like Terminator Super Nintendo, The Total Rickall reboot, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Cocunut, The prequels, Spider-I'm taking over this thread 3, The Planet of the Homo sapiens Reboot, League of Regular Men, The Last Airbender movie anyone will ever see, and All of the Michael Bay Porn fest movies that happen to have robots in it, so maybe I'm not the best judge....

Goddamn Roeper is spittin' hot fire.

Reminder that Ebert would have defended Ghostbusters and give it a 3/4 stars review

Ebert was a hack next to Siskel if you watch their old reviews.

And that's why he's dead

4/4

Other than zero dick thirty I don't see a problem.

This is factually correct
although honestly neither was ever the pinnacle of good film review, they were just popular with the masses because they simplified reviews to the shitty simple thumbs up thumbs down system

True, but if you read some of Siskel's actual newspaper reviews they are quite good. Ebert I never understood how he became famous, suppose it's like you said, pioneering the simplified ratings system, though they both gave two thumbs up to a lot of shitty movies.

Historically, Thumbs up was bad and thumbs down was good.

Ebert would be proud.

>Marvellous cast supernatural comedy
Yeah RT is a piece of shit.

If you take away his analysis of a film what Ebert was good at was giving you a good synopsis of a film and it's general tone or feeling. Siskel wasn't the best at that but what he was good at doing was details and analysis which is why I think they were a good match.

He knows that his entire profession is going down the drain and that the history books will not go out of their way to maintain his or any of their legacies.

>le wrong side of history maymay :>)
