garbage is a bit far. its just derivative as fuck (case in point 'mammoth rider' which follows holy diver's formula and i could tell it was gonna do this as soon as the song started) and the production is gay, its heart is in the right place but the songs fall short of being anything interesting

Emperor, Enslaved and Helheim perhaps?

are there any other metal or hard rock bands like extreme? seems like they're peerless in the hair/glam genre

thank you I'll try these

Epicardiectomy

dem boots tho

Man, look at all those retards.

Kiss vocals, standard bluesy zep/stones guitars but more technical. Sounds like most glam, just a bit better.
Try this youtu.be/S0nKLtdWVTg , also The Cult—Electric, stuff like that

this was underrated

Manowar is literally the least homo erotic band on the planet. They are exclusively for real men

if you still listen to extreme metal you need to grow up

if you find it cringey that people are enthusiastic, maybe you 'll find house music to be more up to your speed.

kys normie

Here's the second one

If you want more glam with more Stones, try Quireboys.
If you just want more blues, I'd say just stick to older hard rock, as glam pretty much just copied it.

I don't think I saw those guys in orienteering

sorry, no buttmetal for me

Vektor just posted this on Facebook.

Looks like we're getting a Terminal Redux comic.

oh dear

good shit, what about funkier stuff? dare I say extreme was more funk metal than glam in their later years.

hey
atleast it's not anime or a game

Can we introduce Vektor to Sup Forums once this gets released?
This nu-male shit would be right up their alley and we can take this meme to the next level

oops

youtube.com/watch?v=0VG1bj4Lj1Q

Where does Vektor = "nu male metal" meme even come from anyway? Is it because they're popular thrash metal and popular thrash is "pleb" to elitist faggot metalheads?

Anal Cunt has made multiple songs in that style

you seem to be lost

lel, good point

They got high scores from Fantano and Pitchfork

;_;
metal for this feel?

shitskins love thrash metal, that's why

Hmmm frankly that's a tough question. If you want specifically glam, you have this Electric Boys youtu.be/S1yn-x_WTuA. Living Colour isn't technically glam I guess, but they fit the funk metal bill. INXS also is related somewhat, some funk rock from the '80s.
Otherwise, funk metal was much more of 90s and alt-rock thing. Most glam was either zep/stones, Dokken, Motley Crue, or some combination of thereof. Now you can find some funky groove here and there in glam, but I heard a lot of it and I can't quite tell you anything quite like this from the top of my head.

wtf I want to rewatch Saint Seiya now.

It's probably the amount of praise it's getting, it's I decent album I suppose, but when I listen to it I just hear other artist's, not "vektor".

The album is pretty much a soundtrack to a photoshopped poster for a doc on 90s death metal.

>progressive thrash metal

yeah i've yet to find another band that sounds close to them in terms of funk metal, they kinda had their own thing going in the scene.
youtube.com/watch?v=fLx2Z_uu_1I
everything you've said is spot on. living color is kinda in the same vein but more alt metal i guess

Yes indeed, this song does sound pretty unique. Now technically the funk metal like this was omnipresent in grunge, but Extreme also has glam sound. This is quite a unique combination.
I got curious and listened to some songs from Waiting for the Punchline. Now I guess here was when they changed their sound more in line with grunge. This is what most bands sounded like in the '90s, like some stuff from Alice in Chains, Jane's Addiction, Faith No More, RHCP, etc. I guess Extreme arrived a bit early to the party of funk metal.
Otherwise, I looked up funk metal on RYM: rateyourmusic.com/genre/funk metal . You can see the genre barely had anything before the '90s. So either you try the few bands from the '80s on this list; or just go with the '90s grunge/alt-rock stuff. It's not glam sound, but speaking of melodies it's pretty much what you're asking for.

BRINGING IT BACK KID

Who /ProgressiveGlamMetal/ here?
youtube.com/watch?v=jyQYnWGBGdE

Forgot to add. Maybe, just maybe, there might in theory be other formerly glam bands who jumped the funk metal wagon in the '90s. And vice versa, some funk metal bands which turned to emo/glam of the 2000s. I wouldn't expect high quality from it though.

Is Rust in Peace the logical conclusion to thrash? Aside from technical wank like Vektor I have yet to hear anything with songwriting as good and aggressive

>Is Rust in Peace the logical conclusion to thrash?

Yes,

Post good, obscure bands. I'll start.
youtube.com/watch?v=SC7Lcn5dTa4

thanks for all the replies man. they were more glam oriented on their first two albums, but three sides to every story was a concept album and much more driven in terms of what they wanted. it was 1/3 hard rock with a lot of funk metal like in
youtube.com/watch?v=avctK0I8XAg
but also had the progressive and ballad sides.
they definitely switched gears to stay relevant in the mid 90s due to grunge which as you said is very apparent on waiting for the punchline. i love aic but never really considered them funk metal, however janes, fnm and early rhcp definitely fit the bill but i've always thought extreme were kinda their own thing...ahead of their time, with skills and heavier, funky riffs different than their glam counterparts, yet more structured with the 3 part harmonies and technical than the late 80s, early 90s funk metal crowd.

>Is Rust in Peace the logical conclusion to thrash?
Maybe
