How does it feel knowing this man unironically makes more money than you?

How does it feel knowing this man unironically makes more money than you?

>unironically makes more money than you

what does that even mean?

I don't give a shit.

>music criticism

it honestly feels great, I seriously think thats probably one of the most embarrassing ways to make money.

this, but ironically

That's alright.

He's a well-spoken hipster faggot who knows quite a bit about music, even though most of his opinions are shit.

If you put me in front of a camera, I'd probably shake to pieces.

>How does it feel knowing this man unironically makes more money than you?
i only feel bad that he makes more money than majority of the artist he reviews.

I still can't believe it desu
My brain literally can't process the fact to this day

Basically this

notch has like a billion more dollars than me and he's just in hollywood being depressed and shitposting on twitter

It feels hilarious and fucking amazing.

But seriously, we can't let this guy get TWO nuclear codes while every other country gets one.

Sup Forums has no understanding of the concept of irony.

He's at least half ironic, that's why I voted for him.
I like the dang memes

How can you be so miserable that become a billionaire and still argue with SJWs on Twitter

Well SOMEONE does have to argue with them or they'll have an easier time not thinking they're retarded. I'm not one of those people but I'm glad they're out there.

Feels pretty damn good actually

I bet that some of the people who work for him make more money than me, too. That man is a job creator.

How do you make money ironically?

the meme review channel. so he probably makes more money ironically too

socialism

It's a meme newfriend

He probably doesn't after expenses and taxes, and I think he built an empire for himself from nothing and I admire that. He'll come out with some wack opinions, and he generally doesn't dive deep enough into instrumentation and structure to be treated as a very serious music critic. He brings a watered down form of criticism to the masses and that's why he has one million subs.

stop pretending like this is how things should be

its true. he still hasn't reviewed elseq

criticism is criticism. He will not teach a thing to a committed music listener, nor is he likely to improve their lives by introducing them to new music.
But at least he encourages people to look at albums as finished products, and not as vehicles for hit songs. I think that can't be underrated in this era of consuming byte-sized (lol) snippets of large works. We are firmly post-radio and squarely pro-playlist. At least someone is sticking their neck out for albums

not trying to argue, just curious and trying to get a bit more informed- where would you recommend going for less watered down reviews?

I don't resent him or anything, but he has extreme punk sensibilities that I don't agree with (e.g., a general disrespect for melody, an extremely fine-tuned authenticity sensor that guides virtually all of his opinions), and his punk sensibilities inform every single aspect of his life from his veganism, to his haircut, to his straight-edge lifestyle, to his giving Kanye West's prog album MBDTF a 6, to championing Death Grips...

I mean, it's his business if he wants to score every album based on how ballsy and punk it is and go on twitter to tell me which politicians are and aren't authentic. It just bugs me that he doesn't market himself that way. He's not just a nondescript music nerd. He is Mr. Is-This-Punk-Or-Is-It-False-Punk. That is what he does, and it's crazy to me just how much of what he does is deciding whether things are punk.

Because he's not writing for a punk magazine or being the face of "punk guy reviews ____"--like he's become kind of happy to tell people: he's the most influential musical tastemaker on the planet.

Doesn't matter he still has to work

>firmly post-radio
>squarely pro-playlist

you need to learn english... you also need to quit making assumptions about everyone (using "we")... I know you're fresh out of high school but please read a book.

Christgau and Scaruffi are the best broad-spectrum reviewers.

Discogs's electronic music ratings are infallible
Resident Advisor's electronic music reviews are insightful

Allmusic is great for Jazz, AllAboutJazz and The Guardian do a good job with newer stuff.

Metal-archives is fantastic because metal-heads, like techno/house-heads on Discogs, really seem to care about their music, and may even derive energy from how niche it is.

Anything Rock-related I would go back to Christgau and Scruffles. Pop I'd say the same, but take many grains of salt, as they both have quirky tastes.

Is that every major genre?

as opposed to ironically making more money than me?

I'll gladly read a book if you promise me to go out and talk to some people. Car drivers excepted, the medium of choice (and you have basically no choice in a car) to listen to music to is playlists.

>music critic
lol what's next a painting reviewer? What a fucking joke

I literally do not care about money

Obviously, and my point still stands.

Absolutely fine, he's a decent lad. Not crazy about his content, especially his meme channel shit, but I don't care.

At least I'm not gonna be a 40 years old man talking about internet memes for living

good post, solid dubs

Hes really good at his job, puts a lot of effort in. Hes also entertaining and likeable.

Wanna bet? Life begins at 40. :)

how much does he amke?

>and my point still stands.

not really tho

Christgau and scaruffi don't seem to get much more in depth with their short reviews than Fantano. I'll check out a few of the sites you mentioned tho.

Christgau is a meme reviewer who uses creative writing to obfuscate his reviews to hide their lack of definitive statements. It's amazing that he got memed on Sup Forums so much people eventually actually started taking him seriously.

You know what you remind me of, Anthony? You know that game Muscle March for the Wii? With those overly muscular gay guys? That's you. There's something very odd about the combination of your large body and feminine facial features -- like some oddball thing you'd run into in Japan or something.

Fuck this garbage you don't know shit.

Pop criticism style reviews are flawed in their nature due to how little analysis is done in them. Musicology analysis is where it's at. You can start with like Berstein's analysis on Tchaikovsky.

People only ironically care about his reviews on Sup Forums. I have never seen any one of his reviews posted in a positive light, I've never seen anybody defend his reviews.

he doesn't

I ironically make more money than existence

>How does it feel knowing this man unironically makes more money than you?
How does it feel knowing that you're repeating the 8th grade?

>using words you don't understand
stop doing this

>unironically
the word is seriously and this word used ironically or seriously is ruined by faggots using it wrong

that may be true, but I ironically make more money then him so I feel fine

femfreq is in a twelfthdan mastersword blackbelt class of her own when it comes to knowing how to rustle jimmies, i get it
