That movie is pure KINO
Your pleb opinion isnt welcome here

I watched it for the atmosphere mostly.

>he doesn't like revenge wrapped up in wilderness porn
pleb

I watched it for

>swims God knows how many minutes in freezing water
>Comes out like it's nothing into snow
>Doesn't drop dead

I dunno senpai

t.marvel fanboy

this is one of the best movies ever made you arse-bandit

The first 45 minutes were pretty good.

>one of the best movies ever made
honestly you should kill yourself

>films like LoA anf Chinatown used to get Oscar noms
>now pseudo art from hacks like McQueen and Inarritu get noms

Cinema is dead.

You are way too young and ignorant to be posting on a movie board, even a Sup Forums one.

it was a good movie, literally only plebs dislike it

Nope. Overtly long takes, sparse dialogue, and hamfisted dream sequences are custom made to snag the pseudo-intelligent/artistic viewers into thinking they've seen something smart and artistic. There's much more to a good movie than making it technically different from a super hero movie, but this is too much for wannabes to figure out and process.

Actual intelligent, artistic movies are much, much better than anything Inarritu could shit out to reel in pseuds and the Academy.

>Overtly long takes
stopped reading there, can already tell the rest of that post will be more dumb shit

Absolutely horrendous posts.

Just out of interest (not smugness), what kind of movies do you guys like? Who do you feel should be getting Oscar nominations right now (please name people that are plausible. A Tsai-Ming Liang movie isn't going to get a best picture nod in any era)

>die hard fan of zach snyder
>likes 300, his worst movie

You're a tremendously ignorant pseud if you think that anything Innaritu or most any other director nominated recently is anywhere near as good as a David Lean, Polanski, or Welles etc. film.

This is literally what your post implied, that fucking Birdman or Shame or Imitation Game is even 1/20 as good as LoA or Godfather. If you can't see the vast difference in quality in every single cinematic element between these films, you have no business posting on even a Sup Forums movie forum.

You have the cinematic taste of a teen or a middle-aged housewife.

So many tryhards, there's nothing wrong with liking popular flicks ya foken idiots

How pleb are you

You're what happens 2 months after wannabe film buff outgrows Nolan/Tarantino. muh long takes and sparse dialogue become >art.

If you keep at it, you might outgrow PTA, Inarritu, Villenueve and Fincher one day, but that's a big if.

Says the middle schooler with shit taste

I'm sure there's better places to look for a pseudo-intellectual circlejerk, and it's not here.

How popular it is has literally no relevance to its quality. If you could actually articulate its cinematic merits (and it would probably be laughable to see your attempt), you wouldn't need to resort to the lazy strawman that "they no like it cuz popular!!!"

>1/20 as good as LoA or Godfather

lmao

Reminded me of something Kubrick would make, take that as you will.

And there's better places to praise pseudo-art films made for people who have "outgrown" Nolantino.

The wilderness shots were pretty.

no, there isn't, now fuck off or I'll wipe the floor with your cunt face.

>inspired by true events
>except for all this shit we made up

You are literally a child if you think that Birdman or Revenant is 1/20 as good as those movies.

I'm 100% sure no one in this thread could make a legit argument that they are, using actual cinematic analysis and avoiding fallacies.

The bear and doing the voyage isn't. Everything else most likely

>he doesn't know what "inspired" means

what the fuck did you just say to me? Don't ever reply to me again without contributing to the thread or I'll fucking slaughter you.

Lol user didn't dismiss your post because he likes long takes. He thinks you're an idiot because you used the word "overtly" to mean "overly." And he's right. You are a stuffy idiot. The movie was trash though.

DUDE NATURAL LIGHT ONLY LMAO

Stuff like the drop. Just saw all the pretty horses and I'm surpised it was critically panned. The revenant was amazing. My internet has been down so I've been rewatching. Mainly There will be blood. Fargo. The wolfman. Seraphim falls right now. Warrior. The town. Gangs of new york.

Oh and killing them softly

sucker punch is snyders worst. it's one of the worst films ive ever seen

The only film.I've literally ever walked out of and asked for my money back. All style no substance. Give snyder a good story and he'll run with it. Ask him to write something and you'll get shit like this.

but it's the best movie ever whatshisname ate raw fish in it

...

it's possible he could've meant overt as in not subtle. That's how I read it.

Only raging plebs like movies nominated for Oscars. They are generic, cliched and formulaic, been that way for over 2 decades 2bh. Well, if you've been "into movies" for 1 year or longer, you shouldn't still be fawning over them, anyway.

What the fuck is LoA, I don't know all these abbreviations.

>Battleship 5/5
>Resident Evil movies 5/5
>Pixels 4/5

Found the hipster fag.

Good. It means bigger studios will support Iñárritu's vision. Hopefully it also means he can get to work on a Blood Meridian adaptation, as he is the only one that can properly pull it off.

Found the Nolanite who also enjoys penis in his mouth.

He means Lawrence of Arabia, I think.

I don't care for the Imitation Game, but I think Shame and The Revenant are very good. As good as Lawrence of Arabia and The Godfather? They're very different films, and time will tell how Shame and The Revenant hold up. All these movies achieve such different things that it's hard to compare them. Comparing a movie that's less than a year old to LoA feels wrong simply due to the history attached to the latter.

Also, you're not addressing my post at all. All you're saying is "the movies these days aren't good" without actually replying to what I posted and asked. Such a semi-"born in the wrong generation" standpoint is ironically something associated with teens and middle-aged housewives.

Nolans ok. Not as good your mom

>big name actor
>director who just won a ton of oscars the year before
>shit ton of hype around main actor's performance
>shit ton of hype around main action sequence in the film
>good to great reviews
>Best Oscar win for main actor
>how on EARTH did this make so much money?

OP is truly truly retarded

the OP didn't ask HOW it made that much money you fucking illiterate philistine

the bear scene was pretty good

Legit, the Armond review about this is the best thing I've ever read.
or maybe it wasn't Armond.
The copypasta that get's spread.

Idk man I thought it was pretty good dude

jesus you are a moron

>those cute little dresses

OH GOD THEY ARE SO FUCKING CUUUUUTE

I didn't see any movies last year that were very good. I don't know that any deserved an award touting itself as "Best of the Year," but that certainly is no reason to call movies that are nominated for Oscars good.

Directors like Lean can use visuals, camera work, characterization, and smart writing to tell a genuinely engaging story. Inarritu and McQueen have to have actors screaming, crying, committing violence, or a hamfisted visual sequence to even come close to grabbing a viewer's attention.

I don't think it's possible for someone who really appreciates good film to think most of today's oscar chasers are making great movies. To really like them, I think you have to be ignorant of what makes a film genuinely smart or artistic. It certainly isn't having a hobo scream Shakespeare's Sound and Fury speech at random, but that's enough to put pseuds on the edge of their seats, I suppose.

You should kill yourself. Do it now.

Out of all the shit out there that makes money like Generic Capeshit Movie N° 9433 or Sausage Party THIS is what makes you think audiences are retarded?

I'd rather people put their money into movies like this than see suicide squad out of habit/apathy

bahahahaha

DUDE I'M BEING CUTE LMAO
