Raiders > Crusade > Temple > Kingdom
although it's been so long i have a hard time remembering the difference between raiders and crusade. which one had the nazis?
That disgusting scene transition between Germany and the Jordanian desert in Crusade is enough to mark it as the worst Jones film. Even Crystal Skull didn't have anything so egregious.
Raiders doesn't even make sense.
How the fuck did he ride that submarine?
Tentpole.
It's a homage to 30's serials you dip. It's supposed to be campy and unrealistic. There's the life raft in Temple of Doom and the stupid fridge in Kingdom as well.
Submarines usually stay above water for the sake of cycling fresh air when not in combat situations, especially back then. It's entirely feasible for him to've ridden on it the whole way to the island.
>all
Why do people rate Crusade sol highly? It's a total rehash of Raiders and actually kinda dull and boring. Temple feels like you've jumped into one of Indy's adventures midway through and you're taken along for the ride. It's fucking great.

>It's supposed to be campy and unrealistic. There's the life raft in Temple of Doom and the stupid fridge in Kingdom as well.
So when the godlike, classic originals do something dumb, it's timeless and amazing.
When Kingdom does it, it's garbage and everyone goes "waaahhhh you raped my childhood!"
I see.
Fridge scene never bothered me.
mingdom was pretty decent until shia turned up.
Temple not only has an annoying kid who screams every line(with an annoying accent to boot), it also has an annoying female character who screams almost every line, and then they introduce a whole bunch of little shit kids Indy has to save.
Take those away and it'd be a fun romp but as it is they weigh the whole thing down to the point where Crystal Skull might be less annoying to watch.
Well the fridge never pissed me of t b h. I thought that was blown a bit out of proportion, and I agree it's dumb that fans have a double standard. It's everything else in the movie that made it suck though.
>Talking about nuke scene
>"blown" out of proportion
hehe
Crusade is the best faggots.
> most comfy
> Elsa Schneider is hot as fuck
> dat father son story
> tanks scene
You all have chosen poorly.

What did he mean by this?
Why did they use that take
I'm tied between Kingdom and Crusade.
At least Kingdom had original villains and did something different. I loved Sean Connery and Indy's love interest, but Crusade just took the plot from Raiders and recycled their villains.
Right, because Shia was such a shitty sidekick, unlike Willie and the chubby fez guy from Crusade, who were totally badass.
At least Shia was fun to follow. Before you mention the monkey thing, remember the rollercoaster mine carts.
This.
Raiders had better non-vehicle fight scenes, though.
THANK YOU. I've always fucking loved Temple but for some reason everyone prefers Crusade, which has never really done anything for me. It's competently made, but just too similar to Raiders. It's not really a bad movie, but its just too safe and boring for me to consider it on Temple's level.
Everyone shills Raiders over Crusade you fucking mark.
I was talking about Crusade being shilled over Temple leaving the fact that Raiders is ubiquitously considered the pinnacle JonesKino understood
shia defence force reporting for duty.
he suck's in mingdom.
short round is awesome low payed slave boy.
wille is what a woman like her would truly act like in the jungle.
>wille is what a woman like her would truly act like in the jungle
Doesn't change that she's annoying as hell, also, all that screaming.
Raiders
Temple
Crusade
Not even gonna mention the other one. It's a piece of shit and almost ruins the value of the franchise.
anything goooooo'sss
temple has the best opening.
How is that relevant to the topic?
anything go's
>suck's
>goooooo'sss
Please tell me English isn't your first language.
its not
Raiders is overrated.
Crusades>Raiders>Temple>>>>>That other one
Raiders > Crusade > Kingdom > Temple
>inb4 bait
>inb4 bait
Even you know your opinions are dumb.
No, I'd just only seen Raiders until Kingdom came out and I watched the three later ones at the same time. Temple was utter shit, especially when Indy goes evil.
Kingdom is terrible for a variety of reasons, from the lack of a cold open unrelated to the main adventure to lots of unnecessary CG(gophers?!) But it's biggest flaw is that the vast majority of the film is nothing but exposition dialogue. All the other Indy films are constantly moving, and the rare bits of history and plot talked about are always done mid adventure, or hastily over a cool map. Obviously Harrison Ford is old, but so much of the film is
>sit or stand in some kind of room
>talk about the plot
Also Marion is awful in every scene she's in, its like every line she has knows that people love raiders and know about the Indy films and her role in them, rather than playing a real person or anything approaching her character in the first film. Shia is a bit of a highlight, in fact the high point of the film is the diner fight and the car motorcycle chase.
Honestly Kingdom is the best one from an objective standpoint. They actually attempted, and succeeded, at creating more in depth characters with more clearer motivations. The plot is something a little more different from the norm instead of the same movie repeated. Also the lack of plot holes in Kingdom compared to the first 3 makes a pretty fucking huge difference. I'd recommend rewatching all of them and take your nostalgia-glasses off and watch them from an objective standpoint.
Kingdom>Temple>Raiders>Crusade
This is objectively the correct order.
>go's
kingdom doesn't exist
the highlight of mingdom is the opening scene's.
>Someone's going to fall for this
This scene spooked me as a child
Probably should rewatch Crusade, now that i'm used to stuff like this
...
I agree
raiders is perfect
doom is kinda shitty but super comfy and fun
crusade is franchise tier lets give it the real hollywood treatment and make some money but still make an effort
kingdom is max shekel farming diarrhea
U-boats didn't really go underwater much, they traveled on the surface 99% of time at sea
how shit is you''''''''''r life when U have too correct a randum user's spelling mistakes on the internezt.
me on the right
>writing goes as go's multiple times
>spelling mistake
I calls 'em as I sees 'em, son, and I'm calling you a retard.
Crusade > Raiders > Temple > Kingdom
Crusade will always be my favourite because it's the only one I had on tape as a kid so I watched it over and over all the time. I'm pretty sure that film is why I'm so obsessed with tanks and kind of a naziboo as well.
fag enabler detected.
3>1>2>>>>>only a retard disagrees with this
Crusade > Raiders > Temple > Kingdom
i like Temple but w/e. Crusaide is more fun than Raiders, but Raiders is a better kino.
Raiders > the rest
Raiders is the only one that's not hindered by the attempts at comedy
>not liking the Asian kid
I loathe when people say this, but kill yourself. Temple will always be my favorite. Has lots of locations and moments that stand out to me way more than the other movies. Indys clothes being all tattered and him beaten on the bridge at the end is a great example. Mine cart chase will always be goat
perfect raking actually
Don't understand the love for Crusade, it's just an inferior remake of Raiders. Temple is cool because it actually tried to be different, and it has the best villain in the series
Maybe you should watch Raiders again.
he said it isn't hindered by it, not that there isn't comedy in it
The rest of the films all have cringe-worthy attempts at being funny
>the Asian kid
>not even knowing his name, just that you like him because he's Asian
Fuck off you racist gook. His name is Short Round. And he's shit.
nope
>raiders=crusade>Temple>>>kingdom
Crusade / Raiders / Crystal / Kingdom
Sure hope this is worth ýour time
>Crystal / Kingdom
what did he mean by this?
I highly doubt his parents named him short round you inbred hillbilly, that's Indys nick name
So if you call Indy "that main character guy" it's fine because his real name is Henry Jones Jr.?
Fuck off
Yeah, man? Wanna reexamine the scene where Indiana Jones is hit by a mirror and screams so loud you can hear it a nautical mile out, before cutting back to Marion saying "What did ya say?"
Or maybe after they open the chamber where the Ark is, when Sallah is scared by the statue?
Indiana Jones goes broad, and even then, it goes broad in a very 80s way. Funny to me personally or not, it's still enjoyable.
Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favorite movie, and Temple of Doom is as good as Raiders. People mysteriously get hung up on Short Round and Willie, who are both great.
Last Crusade is fun but it is an extremely distant third that's closer to Crystal Skull in terms of quality.
Crystal Skull is really terrible, but not for the reasons people usually cite. It's off. It's like hearing your favorite song in the wrong key, or something.
It is a miss, in the most literal way.
>Last Crusade is fun but it is an extremely distant third that's closer to Crystal Skull in terms of quality.
I can accept your favoritism of the first two but this is objectively wrong
I get why people hate it but Temple is my favorite. Still don't know why people hate Predator 2 so much
I've seen Raiders numerous times, and not one of those scenes in Raiders has ever bothered me in the slightest. On the other hand, there are several moments in Temple of Doom that make me roll my eyes, and this is coming from someone with a high tolerance for cheese. As for Crusade, my memory is a bit fuzzy because I don't care much for the film but I do recall there being some dumb moments. But mostly I don't care for it because it's just a tired, uninspired rehash of Raiders.
As for Crystal Skull I prefer to ignore its existence
Watch the movies back to back. Better yet, just watch Raiders and Crusade. Crusade is good, but in the larger context of the series, it's really rough.
It's great--but it doesn't even rate compared to Temple or Raiders. Even pop culture, unreliable as it often is, has seen that through. Nothing in Crusade has gone into be iconic.
Whereas Raiders and Temple are absolutely remarkable in the size of their pop cultural footprint. 3/4 of the scenes in either of those movies are endlessly parodied and referenced, even 30+ years from their release.
It has been a while since I did a back to back viewing, but maybe I like it so much because it's just a comfy movie. I still wouldn't say it's close to Kingdom though, that is a whole other level of shitty.
There is a difference. Raiders has comedic scenes but Temple and Crusade go out of their way to have comic relief characters like Willie and Marcus Brody.
Temple is alo flawed. On one hand you have shit like the feast and the heart ripping and on the other you have the kids. Plus where Raiders was dark, Temple just tries to gross you out which is not the same.
That all checks out. None of the weird or goofy stuff in Raiders registers with people because it's such a time-honored classic.
For example, the original Star Wars trilogy is full of campy, goofy stuff. But, people love those, and almost nobody on this board is old enough to have not grown up with Star Wars, and therefore they accept it. They accept that the OT is good and that the PT is bad, full stop.
I'm not saying people are zombies or idiots, but that it's hard to mentally strip something away from all of the context that you already subconsciously have for it.
>implying Indy getting mind controlled and slapping Short-Round wasn't the darkest the series ever got
They ride the same line. Last Crusade is just over the line to be good enough, plus super bonus points for how good Sean Connery is, and Skull is just over the bad line, with the added anchors of a weak script, and a host of smaller, bad choices.
>implying the kids running home to their parents isn't the most sacharine the series ever got
It's not about going the deepest, it's about staying there and that's where Raiders succeeds and Temple fails
Sallah is comic relief, even if he is made to go into full-bumble by Crusade. It's bizarre how dumb they make Marcus.
Temple is easily the darkest in the series.
Willie doesn't do that much. If it weren't for her scene getting grossed out by an array of bugs, I don't think anybody would make this recurring anti-Willie case. Aside from that, I think she's as good as Karen Allen as Marion.
That's the obvious conclusion to that plot thread. What did you want, the kids to all run into the crocodile pit?
Last Crusade is unbelievably sentimental and sweet. It is narrowly beat by the old-man family fun love fest that is Crystal Skull.
>Nothing in Crusade has gone into be iconic.
The whole scene with choosing the right cup
I stand corrected. But that's it, huh?
>What did you want, the kids to all run into the crocodile pit?
How about no kids in the movie?
Then what is the plot?
I've never been able to fully sit through Kingdom
>Sallah is comic relief
Not really. He makes for a good sidekick.
>Willie doesn't do that much.
>I burnt my fingers and cracked a nail
Every single fucking Indy movie is formulaic as fuck, you're one of those idiots who complains TFA is too similar to ANH, aren't you?
No one gives a shit about a franchise movie sticking to formula. You shouldn't be looking for "ebin originality" in a franchise adventure serial
Getting the sacred stones? In exchange for getting them back to civilization or something?
There is a difference between stealing from movies and stealing from your own movies.
Diet Coke Commercial / Raiders / Crusade / Crystal Skull / Temple

>That Indiana!
That's the point idiot
What's the point of annoying your audience?
Well I thought we were really having a discussion until the people who hate women and children appeared.
>Indy coolly swinging from the snake
Fucking off-character bullshit. REEEEEEEEEEEEE
Nice deflection, kiddo
Crusade > Raiders > Temple
Crusade is the best because of the plot. Father & Son searching for Jesus's grail. It had the best climax with the trials and everything. I always thought Raiders ending was kind of bad were they just close their eyes and everyone dies.
I like most movies that have to do with Catholic religion like The Da Vinci Code.
Temple does have one of my favorite moments though. @1:50 for the best part
...
doom>>raiders>crusade
Indie had no real effect on the plot of raiders
> indie stays home
> nazis find the ark
> nazis still melt
Fucking This!! Apart from cool Sfx, the ending was really anti climactic. Doom was the only one where Indy legit felt like a hero
That's a meme. The Nazis melted due to Belloq's pride. Hitler's scientists and researchers (which would have received it had Indy not sabotaged the plane) would have known to put a Jewish puppet in control of the ceremony.
