Why the fuck are software engineers paid so badly in London? I was offered $30k more in fucking Austin, TX, but I didn't get the H2B visa, so I'll have to go to London and live like a fucking toilet cleaning polack.

not being a NEET

what language?

>but I didn't get the H2B visa,
That's why.

C++, and I'm pretty good in C++ internals and low level shit. The job in London is for Bloomberg.

Because everyone and their mother wants to live in London and you are not desirable enough

I know that there are too many java monkeys in America so they have a shortage of c++ programers. Moreover it market in america is bloated as fuck

London is a shithole. All the disadvantages of a big city, and no advantages of one.

this

>tfw code mostly in C
feels good man, actually have people that need my skills

You miss the point, there is 25 another people that will take your place if you wont

I will never understand why C jobs still exists. There are like thousands 50 yo old farts who have been using it since days one and there are still jobs for newcomers

There is still no alternative as a systems language these days. Also, the biggest companies in the world are build on top of the codebases in C. Someone has to maintain that, nigga.

Good for you my man. Many young programmers jump on the cool JAVASCRIPT EVERYWHERE!!!! train, and their skillset is obsolete in two years.

>le web monkeys le I write in C I'm a cool boi
Lel. Why don't you move bits with your hands stupid?

Why do so many people from other countries in Europe move to London to work low-paid jobs when it's almost certainly a step down in quality of life?

Like London is top-tier if you actually have money; but why move there just for something low paid and have to deal with crippling housing costs etc?

Microcontrollers, various software for a specific hardware. When you simply don't have another GB of ram.

>JAVASCRIPT
Brendan Eich (or whoever created that pile of crap) should commit suicide. Or be publicly executed.

Why do you want to move there then?

As I said I know why people use it I don't understand where all 80',90',00' cs grads vanished

For some reason foreigners are obsessed with London.

It's sad, really. For example, I love the concept of the Atom text editor, but it's so fucking slow just because it's based on javascript. When you can't write a fast text editor with today's hardware, something is wrong with your technology.

Basically this, and it interfaces well with the Linux kernel.

It's still decent money compared to Prague. I think Prague is a better city for living, but I just couldn't stand the feeling that I'm paid the same some shitter cleaning polack is paid in the UK (and I'm paid pretty well compared to other people, even in Prague).

Or something is wrong with people who wrote it.
There weren't too many programmers back in the 80s-00s really. Also, the number of IT companies grow every year and I believe it has been significantly increasing last 20 years.

It's relative to where you live though you twar. Some shitter cleaning polack is probably living a shit life in London.

Captcha: maldonado stop

>It's relative to where you live though
When you live in a first world country. If you live in Russia or Poland, it can't be better than anything in London. Can't say about Poland for sure, but considering how many of them are in the UK..

what a retarded reasoning lol, shitter cleaner in Switzerland makes 3x as much as you do, you will move to Zurich now?

I understand that you stupid nigger. But I'd rather be living in london making 75k GBP a year, than in Prague making 26k GBP (and 26k in amazing salary for Prague, top 1% for sure).

your opinion = wgaf

Go pray to your skydaddy and drink borovička.

but you just said it was a shithole

Would you rather be a upper middle class in Africa, or middleclass in London?

Fite me irl you pikey

>Austin, TX
I've heard many companies move/open there since California is turning into shit.

Yeah, all of Texas has been going through a growth boom, and they weren't really hit by the recession. Most of it is from Californians moving to greener/cheaper pastures.

There's actually still a shortage of Java monkeys in America. Nobody wants to write Java anymore so the jobs go unfilled.

Also, there's no shortage of C++ programmers. There's a shortage of programmers with very specific domain skills which happen to work on codebases written in C++. Just knowing C++ won't get you a job.

>Nobody wants to write Java anymore so the jobs go unfilled.
Good news for me. But why so?

It's mostly shit bloated codebases of the worst corporations.

Imagine the worst corporate culture in a company your brain can produce. That's what it is like programming on those codebases.

>I know some C++
>Look at me I am a fucking genius
>London is a shithole
>Austin is a shithole
>This world is just not too good for me
>Back to shitposting

what language should i learn guys? can i move to any anglo cunt (except britain) easily if im programmer?

java of course. c++ is a niche language these days.

>can i move to any anglo cunt
No. They're coming down hard on codemonkeys using H1-B visas here.

English. Then C. Then C++. Then you can learn Java if you want to program webapps or stop on C++/C.

>. Nobody wants to write Java
really, what does everyone want to write?

You stupid retard, I'd love to move to Austin, aI never said Austin was bad. And I;m pretty fucking good in C++.

I you want job security, I'd go for Java. The corporations will keep the beast living for a long time. Also, moving to central european countries should be pretty easy.

I think it's the same for almost every language. The difference is for writing in Java you can get more money.

but i heard there are gorillion of indian java programmers so i thought it will not be worth to learn it

im interested at C / C++ do you know about job opportunities ?

well fuck

i really dont want to go europe, plus i dont want to waste time to learn new language

>And I;m pretty fucking good in C++
Can you recommend any c++ certification that would be helpful?

Something trendy like JS, especially on node.js.

well both supply and demand are high for Java programmers, so good liquidity so to speak. C/C++ are ancient languages that nobody uses anymore except for some legacy stuff akin to Cobol. Of course if they do need a C++ coder, they will pay top dollar. But I wouldn't count on that.

>but i heard there are gorillion of indian java programmers so i thought it will not be worth to learn it
They are shit-tier programmers mostly who write shit code for shit money. There is a expression "Indian code" which means really bad code.
>im interested at C / C++ do you know about job opportunities ?
You should see for every country separately. Markets are different. But you can expect writing some libs, data processing, graphics(you should learn OGL for it though) and other stuff that requires a good knowledge of mathematics, algorithms, and CS at all.

get a real job ya bum

>im interested at C / C++ do you know about job opportunities ?
Desperate to leave your newly formed islamic dictatorship?

>so good liquidity so to speak. C/C++ are ancient languages that nobody uses anymore
That's simply not true. There are fields where you HAVE TO use C/C++.

what happened?

thx for responds
im not familiar with this sector so i had to ask

btw im math student you can find lectures in bottom of this link:
ebys.ege.edu.tr/ogrenci/ebp/organizasyon.aspx?kultur=en-US&Mod=1&ustbirim=4&birim=5&altbirim=-1&program=2615&organizasyonId=21&mufredatTurId=932004

i lost all my hope for my cunt a few years ago
i was nationalist but now i feel like nationless

Haven't You heard? Erdogan is a new Emperor of Turkish Caliphate.

Well that's cherry picking. Of course there are some C++ positions available. "some fields" is what I call a niche language.

They gave Erdog unlimited power thing happened.

>btw im math student
That's good. You have chances then if you're smart and will work hard.

You need to be really good and prove yourself somehow. Turkish decrees aren't that respected in Europe.

Oh, ok. It was "ancient languages that nobody uses anymore" that distracted me. In general, yeah, no one will learn C++ unless he knows why he needs to learn it.

Best case is to work for some western company remotely for some time. Or you can participate in olympiads while studuing, but it takes some real brains.

>will work hard.
do you really HAVE TO work hard on programming?
can actually anyone do this stuff easily just naturally?
or am i dreaming?

>Turkish decrees aren't that respected in Europe.
didnt understand
im not planing to go EU anyways

Kek that's some pretty serious math, if you can figure out abstract algebra and the measure theory and topology you sure won't have any problems with programming. good luck mate

C++ certification

I need one

You are dreaming, it's even more difficult trying to get in USA/Canada than it's in Europe. Or are you planning to go to some another arab country?

>can actually anyone do this stuff easily just naturally?
It's not working like that. Programming today is a pretty complexed field where something new appears every day. You need to know many things and learn almost always to be in shape. And the more you write code, the better your code become. There is no "end point" in programming skills.

Tough shit pajeet.

>slavshit subuman """"""coders"""""" (self taught) expecting to be treated like real people
is there anything more sad and funny?

That's why I like hardware, design and test it once and boom you're done

All that certifications do are prove that you're foolish enough to pay to get certified. If you want to be considered as a developer, then you need to spend time doing development and build your skills. A decent interview will test those skills. If you have the certification and no skills, you're not going to get the job. If you have the skills then the certification is irrelevant, IMHO.
Copypasta though.

thank you user, your post made me hopeful :)

i prefer to die in turkey to live in euro

how about russia? is it good to work there?
can i live as freelancer?

Well, I disagree with that. Certifications do help your case especially if you are light on experience, which I am

>how about russia? is it good to work there?
No, not really. It was ok before 2015, but now it sucks. Better try Czech or Poland.
>can i live as freelancer?
Probably no, you'll need a work visa I presume. You'll need a job offer or something like that. I don't know much about going work in Russia honestly.

The difference is actually pretty noticeable.
Check out Stack Overflow for any given language. Check out the names of the replies to some questions.
Java has a high incidence of poo in loos. This means that to work with Java, you have to deal with codebases written by stupid Indians. You might even have to train them, and between your Russian and their Hindu, you're going to have all kinds of communication issues.

Do you know how most people get certificates? Their companies send them to get it and pay for it since they sometimes can get profit from it (having certified specialists helps sometimes) or they just interested in a professional growth of their employees.

Indians speak English

Not well.
The only Indians I know that aren't fucking retarded at communicating were either born here or got their PhD here.

Yeah, I've noticed it. Almost every video on YouTube about Java is made by some Pajeet with a terrible accent(or at least it was like that when I was learning Java). You better work for start-ups than some shitty banks of shitty IT-unrelated corporations

Oy vey, this is like the chicken and the egg problem. I have a GitHub and some years of coding in C but not much in C++. I do know Java, so OOP is not alien to me. I was thinking of turning some of my better (larger) c projects into c++ to showcase my skillz

>with a terrible accent
>that Russian superiority
How is your accent, Ivan?

Startups are bad, too.
They're a major lobbying force in regulations regarding H1B visas.
Their argument is that they can't compete with large companies without the advantage that cheapo Indian slave labor gives them.

Really, it's just bad everywhere. You know what I did? I decided to learn a more mathematical subset of Computer Science. Security, Data Science. Things like that.
Of course, you're Russian so security won't work out for you over here--the point is to get US citizens on a project.

No Indians in sight, my man.

For Turk it's really difficult to get job in programming in Western hemisphere if you aren't exceptionally good.

>h1n1 visa

Kill yourself All h2b visa holders will hang

Your Github can actually help you. Also, in a case with C++, you can try to contribute to open-source projects. But the thing is, a certificate won't really get your a work. Unless it's some crazy certificate signed by Kernighan and Ritchie.

Mine is terrible too. But I've been watching stuff in English for many years and can easily spot an accent although I can't properly talk myself, lol.

I've been thinking moving to London or somwhere UK for a long time. At least for a while.

It's quite easy to find some low pay job?

I speak good English.

Why so? There are many Indians and other mehmets, what's so special about turks?

>Finland
>The safest country in the world
>No rapefugees
>Want to move to London
Why?

>No Indians in sight
My company went to a job fair last year at a local college and most CS graduates (the better ones) were mostly Indians and Chinese. Americans prefer meme degrees, CS is too hard for most. I don't know what is going to happen if Trump kills the H1b program. Silicon valley is going to collapse. Oh, and last year when I was in Seattle I drove through the Microsoft campus out of curiosity. Tons of indians and chinese.

They go in same category than mehmets and there is already overflow of them in markets. You need to be exceptionally good now days so you can get hired and get that working visa.

You don't want to live in London with low paying job, trust me. Your pay goes to rent, bills and you can afford a little bit shitty food.

>I decided to learn a more mathematical subset of Computer Science. Security, Data Science
I've got a mathematician/programmer degree so I have a base for learning some serious mathematician stuff, but I already know not a few I think. The thing is, I don't know what specifically can I learn that will help me with a job.

We'll I've been there a few times and I like it, and it's more bigger etc.

I lived in Helsinki in the same town soon for 20 years, I want some change

But I agree Finland is a great country

I would probably come back

>C/C++ are ancient languages that nobody uses anymore
Idiot

vocaroo.com/i/s1olW0loYbGs

That's the post below yours. And this is how i sound after a full day of speaking Russian, so the accent won't be that noticeable, anyway i'm sure this is not how you would expect a Russian to speak.

Not necessarily live in London

But maybe work there, and then live outside London cheaper

But a friend of mine told about some of his friends who works in London as a bartender and has a house paid for him

You don't want to commute +1h to work your low pay job either, trust me.

You can try NY then, London isn't that big, is it?

True

But NY might be too big + I might like England more

And I'm used to London and could see myself living there
