R.L. Burnside or go fuck yourself.

I only listen to real music

m.youtube.com/watch?v=XF177Aj59C8

Kind of a hybrid with progrock/psych. I think it counts though.

Captain Bee-Fart is the shit! Only person to compare is some Zappa and these fucks.

youtube.com/watch?v=BgvBWR0Tr7I

I'll agree with you about Zappa, but that shit you just posted sounds like Matchbox 20, if they were pretentious junkies.

Mississippi Fred McDowell, who was fromTennessee
Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, who disliked each other
Alberta Fucking Hunter yassah!

Lordie lordie but he done got hisself a lectric! An inline too! Ain't nothin a soul can fine at the crossroads, nossir.

Idk, can't recall any matchbox-20. But I guess if mb20 sounded like this, than mb20 had talent.

Van Vliet was from suburban Los Angeles, not a bluesman.

Gasolina by daddy yankee

Blues is a style of music, not a fucking lifestyle. Take that corporate sales narrative back to the record company who sold it to you.

Blues Saraceno
Tab Benoit
Patrick Sweaney
Indigenous
Brian Kahanek

I like this guy.
youtube.com/watch?v=CNTJc9lBt6Y

Knew him from 10+ years ago. We'd play at a local open mic night here in town when he wasn't touring or recording somewhere.

For your reference only. I do not recommend any one else clicking on this trash. m.youtube.com/watch?v=WziA88-n02k

I think you responded to the wrong person, but I'll back his ass up. Who the fuck says you have to be from a specific region in order to conduct a specific genre?

An interesting point, inasmuch as the blues was originally a lifestyle, "a feeling" as they said back then.

Folks like Eric Clapton showed that one does not have to be be a niggrah from MuriKKKa to play the blues … even so, Captain Beefheart is not and never will be a bluesman.

To lazy to crow for day!
youtu.be/BfC1TPE9bR8

In the immortal words of your Fearless Leader:
WONG!
WONG!

Bonus point: What is Captain Beefheart's real name?

Gary Hoey - who's your daddy

Don't hear it... But there are bigger fish to tackle like the "Blues being a lifestyle" fag...

>the blues
>shows image of a plectrum
Real bluesmen used their fingernails, dude.

Op probably just used the first image he found whilst googling. Hence why he asked Sup Forums for some good blues. At the least op is asking and not blindly posting bullshit like your post.

The blues is completely derived from European folk music. The new term they came up for it was purely to sell it along with the whole "sad nigger on a porch" imagery.

Yeah. No.

"Blues is a genre[2] and musical form originated by African Americans in the Deep South of the United States around the end of the 19th century. The genre developed from roots in African musical traditions, African-American work songs, spirituals, and folk music.[1] Blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads.[3] "

...

You'd have a miserable time defending such a thesis academically. Not even worth discussing here on Sup Forums but its European influences are of secondary interest.

I get the feeling that OP doesn't really know what the blues is. Too lazy to crow for day!

The historical revisionism runs deep.

good blues artists:

Albert King
BB King
Freddie King
Missisippi Fred mcdowell
Mississippi john hurt
magic sam blues band
howlin wolf
screaming jay hawkins
blind faith
black angels
hacienda
juniour kimborough

happy listenin folks lets keep the genre alive

I always cringe whenever someone cites Wikipedia as an authority but in this case there is no historial revisionism to be considered. Robert Johnson most certainly did not sell his soul to the Sorbonne.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Pride and Hoy

Bunp

Always have loved Joe Bonnamasas version of Sloe Gin

to me, bonamassa is the embodiment of Hendrix's saying "blues is easy to play but hard to feel"
guy can play, has sweet rig but gets awful tones, and just plays over everything, any time he covers a song he just ruins the feel that made the originals so good, its like he completely misses the point

Pretty good. Here's a present for you:

Reflections of a floating world by Elder

She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge,
She studied sculpture at Saint Martin's College,
That's where I,
Caught her eye.
She told me that her Dad was loaded,
I said "In that case I'll have a rum and coca-cola."
She said "Fine."
And in thirty seconds time she said,

I want to live like common people,
I want to do whatever common people do,
I want to sleep with common people,
I want to sleep with common people,
Like you.

Well what else could I do
I said "I'll see what I can do."
I took her to a supermarket,
I don't know why,
But I had to start it somewhere,
So it started there.
I said pretend you've got no money,
She just laughed and said,
"Oh you're so funny."
I said "Yeah?
Well I can't see anyone else smiling in here.
Are you sure you want to live like common people,
You want to see whatever common people see,
You want to sleep with common people,
You want to sleep with common people,
Like me.

But she didn't understand,
She just smiled and held my hand.
Rent a flat above a shop,
Cut your hair and get a job.
Smoke some fags and play some pool,
Pretend you never went to school.
But still you'll never get it right,
'Cause when you're laid in bed at night,
Watching roaches climb the wall,
If you called your Dad he could stop it all.

You'll never live like common people,
You'll never do whatever common people do,
You'll never fail like common people,
You'll never watch your life slide out of view,
And dance and drink and screw,
Because there's nothing else to do.

Sing along with the common people,
Sing along and it might just get you through.
Laugh along with the common people,
Laugh along even though they're laughing at you,
And the stupid things that you do.
Because you think that poor is cool.

Like a dog lying in a corner,
They will bite you and never warn you,
Look out, they'll tear your insides out.
'Cause everybody hates a tourist,
Especially one who thinks it's all such a laugh,
Yeah and the chip stain's grease,
Will come out in the bath.

You will never understand
How it feels to live your life
With no meaning or control
And with nowhere left to go.
You are amazed that they exist
And they burn so bright,
Whilst you can only wonder why.
Rent a flat above a shop
Cut your hair and get a job
Smoke some fags and play some pool
Pretend you never went to school,
But still you'll never get it right
'Cause when you're laid in bed at night
And watching roaches climb the wall,
If you called your dad he could stop it all
Yeah

You'll never live like common people
You'll never do what common people do
You'll never fail like common people
You'll never watch your life slide out of view
And then dance and drink and screw
Because there's nothing else to do

Matt Schofield is by far one of the best contemporary blues player

>cites Wikipedia

It was the quickest resource I had access to and the quote was accurate.

work on your memory then, you should read more actual books and stop reading online articles like a modern pseudo scientist

And I agree with you inasmuch as we are talking about the origin of the blues. Nonetheless, Wikipedia is the fallacy of argumentum ad verecundiam in its worst instance. Protip: remove the numerals and square brackets.

I was a music major in college, dipshit. I did read about and learn all about this shit. Fucking hated the piano lessons; I was in it for composition. Music history was fun, too.

>Wikipedia is the fallacy of argumentum ad verecundiam in its worst instance.

Agreed.

>Protip: remove the numerals and square brackets.

I left them in there so it was obvious it was Wikipedia. Interested people can go there and follow the references for more detail.

In all fairness to our Wikipedia friend, I have read many actual books on the blues and his Wikipedia citation is consistent with what I have read. If it weren't for the fact that he used Wikipedia as his source he would not have been called on his post. Wikipedia pretends to be an authority but it is not: whenever there are financial interests at stake, Wikipedia lies. One of the great things about the blues is that it was born from interests far from finance. It was born from railroad tracks and juke joints and fancy houses.

>I was a music major in college, dipshit.
I truly hope that your alma mater has taught you to be more than merely impolite. Did your major teach you anything about the blues? "Oooh ooh ooh, a bent fourth!"

Well, when you call people dipshits you should expect similar disrepect in return.

We are the crown of creation.
But we got nowhere to go.
–Grace Slick

You called me out. I am drunk enough to take umbrage and responded as I did.

Not to mention that the first guitar like instrument was created in Africa. American Africans are the source of all rock and metal

Neither can I - Slash's snakepit
Pushes into the hard rock a little more than earlier blues.

Protip: Nunca golpeas a la mano de un amigo. (Argentinean saying, "Never strike the hand of a friend." No, I'm not Argentinean.) Take your allies where you find them. Still listening to Muddy Waters's London Sessions, still loving it. Great thing about the British rockers of the '70s is that they rescued a lot of bluesmen from obscurity.

The guitar was born of the Arabic 'oud. I would refer you to the Harvard Dictionary of Music.

My nigger, I came to post this.
