You will never be kind

>You will never be kind
>You will never rewind

Does Sup Forums miss VHS at all? Even a little bit?

>240i
>Pan and scan
>Shitty audio
>Video quality deteriorates over time
No, not really.

no, after my folks bought a dvd player (97' , I think) I never watched another fucking VHS

>you will never again rewind several times to watch that one porno scene over and over only to have the tape get jammed in the player
THANK GOD

Of corse my best version of aliens special edition was vhs copy, there was something real about it

I have a VCR in my fucking garage

>fall asleep while watching a dvd
>movie ends and the stupid menu music loops for hours

>fall asleep while watching a vhs
>movie ends
>it rewinds, leaving only the comfy blue screen

>ywn hold her medals
;_;

I like having all my movies tagged and organized in plex with my choice of posters and backgrounds.

2. You will immediately cease and not continue to access the site if you are under the age of 18.

Speaking of VHS, which generation grew up with the better era of television and film?

Oh my god she does look like Tony Hawk.

28

Fucking this

same here lel
not at all
btw I didn't rewind, fuck dirtying my headers for some cunt
I like the VHS look though, but that can be easily attained during production if the filmmakers want to do it. The super-HD look isn't very enjoyable to me. I find not as defined movies to be a more immersive experience.

92 child here, according to that graph I'm closer to Gen Z, kek

Holy shit I didn't even remember this but fucking this

past 90 is pleb tier so ya

According to the graph we millenials are pleb tier.
>tfw not yuppie
why live

>that pic
VCR's didn't stop existing just because they became obsolete. You can 100% still buy them and watch whatever you'd like. And no I don't miss it. I was born in 86 so my whole childhood was that. Those things sucked, and that's why everybody leaped at the chance to use literally anything else as soon as there was an alternative.

Whenever Newhart and Taxi were on Nick-at-Nite.

>I'm smack dab in the middle.
Just like real life

VCRs were just a hassle.

Now laserdisc, that was a format. The picture quality wasn't even up to DVD standards, but you'll realise why analog is so good when you watch someone pause, go frame by frame, and then play the movie in reverse without the stuttering shit you get thanks to modern compression techniques. Every frame has all of the info, instead of just relying on the previous frame plus updates.

Are you me?

>rent empire strikes back vhs
>rewind to the point where luke gets his hand cut off
>send it back

CALL THE COPS

>>You will never be kind
>>You will never rewind
You make lite of it, but it was serious to those video places back then.

Most of the time there was a charge attached for the customer if they didnt do it before returning.

If i am then why do we hate ourselves?

>those movies with like 20 fucking minutes of previews

>2016
>not exclusively watching movies on vinyl
ISHYGDDT

There is literally no reason to chose VHS over DVD or Blu Ray except for muh friday night blockbuster nostalgia

Based Johnathan, shame he didn't get Nancy in the end

I still use it sometimes for shit I taped on TV.
Mostly for the christmas stuff I taped to watch at Christmas time.

240 interlaced? watching digital or capturing digital why?

I just miss being a kid.

VHS gave me nightmares.Getting your porno Tapes stuck and before mom and dad noticing I was jerking of with the only VHS player we had. Fuck no. I honestly dont care for VHS althoug I was watching some super 8 stuff and it somehow felt alive. I don't know there is something cold about VHS

>garbage ass quality and pan-and-scan ruining the cinematography of films

Nah, I'm good senpai.

>watching movies on dvds
>not watching them on laserdiscs

Fucks sake, it's so simple. Laser disc is bigger, hence it has room for better quality since it can hold more frames.

...

Plus more previews after the movie

>YOU WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO PUSH A DVD INTO A VCR.

Are there any trackers that specialize in VHS rips of common movies? Yeah probably not.

I know about myspleen but they only allow obscure stuff.

...

ooh richie rich with an auto rewinder

what a sack of fucking disrespect and generalisations, yeah because being born in 1995 makes you automatically self-centred. fuck off

t.1997 gen z

My dad has a laserdisk collection

shit is actually cash as fuck

shame it never really caught on

30-something here. Absolutely not. I do miss there being programs on tv that I did want to record. Which is mostly nostalgia speaking as its much more convenient to get it online and not have to wait for when it's on.

I do miss the noise of the

we used to tape over the videos with dumb stuff before taking them back, because we were kids and assholes.

Laserdiscs were the fucking bomb. It's a shame production costs were so high and it's nearly impossible to bootleg or rerecord them, those factors could have helped the format survive.

I'm waiting for my VCR to be repaired and it's taking forever

i still remember when my parents bought Twister on dvd, apparently the first dvd released in north america.

i only miss vhs for its tactile features. grabbing it and pushing it in the vcr was fun. also shooting video onto vhs tapes was fun as well, i made some lame videos with a then old vhs camcorder. i kind of wonder if it's still somewhere at my dad's apartment.

Can you imagine buying a pack of 10 recordable discs though? It'd be fucking huge.

Because it's analog, re-recording shit would have degraded the quality, and thus the point, anyway. I imagine a technical laserdisc full rip would be approaching current blu-ray sizes because even those are compressed, it'd be like recording a record in FLAC.

Excessive cost when the competition was "good enough" killed the format, and then DVD put the final nail in the coffin for movie buffs. While I think it's a very interesting format for movies, being able to rewind seamlessly isn't really more important than higher quality digital alternatives.

lol wow never heard of that until now, def could pass for his sister.

>tfw 1996 millennial-genz hybrid who was watching movies on VHS in early 2000s

>push VHS into VCR
*ka-chik CHUK*

>rewind at end of film
vvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeooooooooooooooooooop

>have friends over for pizza and movie
>they browse through my dvd collection
>can't find anything to watch
>fetch Princess Bride VHS from it's special box on another shelf
>friends all laugh at me for still owning, let alone watching VHS
>they eat the pizza and leave early

Me, I'm a simple guy. I'd just like to know how much would fit on a bluray of that width. Also, 2 sides!

But I do know what it feels like to push a VHS into a vcr. It feels like pushing a rectangular plastic cassette into a rectangular slot/ Stop fetishizing information storing technology. VHS wan't even very good, the picture and sound would get fucked up when the tape was damaged.

>watching VHS
>wrapped in a duvet on the sofa
>while it's raining
>you will never be this comfy again

>CRT
>VHS
>NO internet
>Low resolution, low fidelity picture quality
There was a certain innocence in technology being so shit. It meant you actually paid attention to other things in life. Like outside. It was the right balance.

I hope you get face cancer.

you cant record over comericial tapes unless they were dubs to begin with

You put tape over the hole that prevents you from taping over

>you will never watch 80s animu on a TV with wooden parts and a control panel that pops out while you are slowly brainwashed to become a failure at life
oh well at least i can stream porn and order pizzas over the innerwebs without having to talk to people

Bought this used for around 30 bucks when I was 15, I already had a Tv in my room that I bough with my confrirmation money.

Bought films lke Showgirls and other beach academy, fap rewind fap rewind ...

Rutracker has some but usually they only come with Russian audio.

>you will never feel what it's like to use a vcr
How old is everyone here? Shit! I'm 18 and I remember using vcrs all the time.

>confrirmation money
????
also
>nordmende
interesting, now someone bought that brand and they stamp it on generic chinese stuff

Not that one, one like it. Mine was a Jvc
Christian confirmatian yes, this was back in 1995

>How old is everyone here?
34, kiddo

I didn't get anything for mine.

I honestly don't know how anyone would put themselves through so much pain.

not really, it was annoying as fuck even when no better alternatives existed

we are literally each other. do you guys feel like you graduated with the worst class? like both the classes that came before and after me in high school were way better.

>falling asleep while watching a movie

Is this something only plebs do?

Probably shouldn't use Lightning Fast VCR Repair

only old fogeys

Your friends are plebs of the highest order

In an era where multiple HD movies can be stored and played from something as small as a thumbnail? Not one bit.

I want to go back.

>you will never know what it feels like to push a VHS tape into a VCR
I'm 21 and I know the feeling all too well, how old are you?

>fall asleep watching dawn of the dead
>music on menu looping away
>hearing it in my sleep, have nightmare
>finally wake up
>cant sleep rest of the night, nightmare was that intense

Fuck you, dvds.

>twn watch the disney vhs commercials before the lion king starts ever again
>You will never see Tim Allen make Santa fall off the roof and think "I'll see that movie one day"

>he doesn't know how to tape over a VHS

This site is for 18 and older. Please go away.

What, my VCR never did that. If I left it playing too long, those coloured bars appeared and it started screeching.

>the 80's
>saturday night in winter
>everyone gets into family station wagon and heads into town
>go to video store, pick up 2 movies we reserved
>go to pick up a pizza or fast food
>go home, eat
>watch movies together as a family
>stay up to watch SNL, tape it in case i fall asleep

Fuck....

>not liking those delicious Anne Hathaway titties
your friends are fags

I miss building towers out of the tapes

>Princess Bride VHS

Truly patrician.

>Taping over VHS

I bet your also support the globalist jew agenda

Drop in a fire

How young would you even have to be for that image to apply?

...

>anne hathaway
>princess bride

>people will start collecting vhs movies soon
>its already happening with cassettes and laserdisc

Why people want obsolete formats

People collect stamps mate. It's not to watch them, just to have them.

Humans are weird

Kill yourself grandpa

>VHS ends
>rewinds with a comfy blu screen
>finishes rewinding
>SSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
>wake up, heart racing over 200bpm freaking out to stop it

VCRs are one of the ultimate nostalgia things: It has absolutely zero value and has been surpassed in all ways.

One can make an argument for all kinds of old stuff still having some kind of place in the world, like records, but not for VCRs/VHS

No, fuck VHS

nope

>watching vhs
>stop
>forget to rewind
>eject
>vhs spills tape spaghetti everywhere
>vhs is kill

I was a dumb kid though, tbf
