how was it filmed? on film or digital? It it was digital then they usually only capture at 2K at best, so it would be upscaled.

All films shot in the 1930's, 40's on negative prints are 4K and higher quality

unless they MASTER it in 4k, then its not 4k. Lord of the rings was shot on 35mm, but mastered in 2k, due to the technical limitations at the time. so unless they go back and completely re-master the whole series the film will never be in true 4k.
