In July I'm setting off on a 7000 km / 4500 mi bicycle trip (pic related) from North Cape to Lisbon and I will be on the road for about 8 and a half weeks. I need a shit ton of music suggestions.. don't care what genre or mood, just tell me songs you like, that get you going, make you think or dance or whatever, and I'll download them and listen to them somewhere along the way.
What kind of life do you have that lets you cruise around on a toy for 8 and a half weeks?
Jordan Price
Gojira - The way of all Flesh (album), Magma (album) Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene trilogy Wardruna - Runaljod Ragnarok Tool - Lateralus Eluveitie - anything from this band, they are fucking awesome Burzum - Umskiptar Burzum - The Ways of Yore System of a Down - Mezmerize, Hypnotize, Toxicity, System of a Down
Well man I'm a student and I work full time, I will be graduating soon and life only gets busier from there so I decided to take two months and do something I've always wanted to do while I still have the time
In converse, I could ask, what kind of lives does everyone else have that doesn't let them have 8 and a half weeks to do what they want? I come from a poor family and was homeless in my youth, but there is nothing in life that hard work and a good attitude can't overcome :)

Do you go camping, or do you sleep in hotels? If you'd like to go camping its quite an ambitious distance.
I like audiobooks. For example Anna Karennina (on librivox) was a work I really enjoyed when I was pedalling through the Andes..

I will camp about 50% of the time (I have a super light tent and sleeping bag). When in Russia, Estonia etc. I will stay in hostels, and I have a few friends or couchsurfing buddies along the way.
Do you have any other audiobooks to recommend? I've been through a lot of tolstoy and chekhov so far

Ah, when you like that, try D. H. Lawrence. It kept me busy last year :) Also, Knut Hamsun, Growth of the soil, for when you're in Norway.
What type of bicycle do you have? How much weight? My bike is about 18kg and my luggage around 25kg. Schwalbe mondial tyres. Quite slow. I do around 100km per day, with much more I cannot really eat enough and my days are a bit too short. But you plan on doing much more. So how do you do it?
Landon Hernandez
I think I will have to go the audiobook route, I am just getting sick of the music and artists I'm familiar with But i also need new music to pump me up, with a load of camping gear and shit after 150 km your mind is not very fortitudinous
Parker Gonzalez

I have a 1970's Peugeot racing bike that I've worked on extensively, it's really light, around 11 or 12 kg now. I have schwalbe marathon tires because I fucking hate flats and I can stand the inertia. I haven't actually weighed my gear yet, shouldn't be too heavy though. My panniers are 1kg, my tent 1.5, sleeping bag 0.5, bike tools and spare shit maybe 2.5, and from there it's just clothes and Gopro shit and my water/food backpack
All death grips songs (Btw come visit me if you are going through vienna, ill buy you a mcdonalds)

Ah, one of those Peugeot 103 frames? Had one too and to be honest, it was really bad. Unstable at >35km/h. Well, you take a largely flat route anyway, but still, with loaded panniers? Did you change your derailer and casette?
With that type of tyres and bicycle 130km/day should be managable when flat. I always look for mountains, so that also make an important difference in daily distance.
I think it's challenging, but it should be just manageable when you're in good shape and don't have any problems. Hope your saddle is comfortable!

Oh, I'm planning on cycling through Africa with my gf starting this winter. Slowly though :)
John Clark
Just put new wheels and casettes, derailleurs are still fine. I regularly go over 50 kmh on it and haven't had any issues with stability, maybe that will change with panniers but I'll just have to cope with it
I have made a table with elevation change etc. The total climb for the trip is just under 31km.. There are one or two days in Spain where I have to climb nearly 1,600m which will be without a doubt the hardest day of the trip. Still doable though
Jamiroquai- Canned Heat, virtual insanity Blood red shoes - animal Punch out Theme and Punch outs Jogging Theme (highly recommended) Kill Bill Vol. 1- The Green Hornet Theme Initial D Soundtrack - GAS GAS GAS, Dont stop the Music, running in the 90s and Deja Vu Night of Nights and UN Owen was her are pretty rad too
