wtf i hate american psycho now

Still a sexist movie

story about a sexist guy =/= sexist movie

If you watch the movie after you've read the book, you'll notice it's really a terrible movie.

my reaction was to drop my person rating of it by two points

This, the film could have been a genuine masterpiece, but nonetheless it's very comfy and rewatchable.

it makes me think some hollywood kike fucked up what could have been the best movie of the decade because he didn't want white middle aged men to have a fun movie to watch

Really? Just like every novel adaptation ever made?

If you read the book after you've watched the movie, you'll notice it's a really terrible movie.

And a great meme material

Wow, a female managed to make a bastardized copy of a book written by a male. Bravo women.

I've also always found it ironic that Bale's stepmother is some ultra-feminist that campaigned against the book's release in the first place.

You can't hate this Kino even if you've read the book

>man makes terrible adaptation of a book
>i didn't like the movie desu famalam
>woman makes terrible adaptation of a book
>LOL WOMEN CAN'T DIRECT LMAO

Yeah, but usually they don't copy + paste entire paragraphs from the book and turn them into dialogue and then give some hack writer a writing credit.

Name me one good female director.

Op I'm on your side but you came to the wrong place for any sense of vindication for wyminz

Lilly Wachowski
Lana Wachowski

I guess the woman who directed Hurt Locker is good. Whatever happened to her though?

So was the hurt locker and that was pure kino

I read the book before I saw the movie because I was curious. I thought the movie was a little annoying when I first saw it because it made Patrick out to be more of a dork than the book did. In the book it was like he was this super cool dude who was fucking 10/10s on the regular. Then, in the movie, they play up the absurdity a little more, and the chicks that Patrick sleeps with are really not attractive at all (while Patrick is obviously objectively attractive). I didn't really like that feminist spin on it, because I thought part of the book was that Patrick was good at fooling people into being taken in by him, and part of that was fooling really desirable women, and not just ugly prostitutes who look like they have a touch of down syndrome.

>the best female director's used to be men

>explaining the joke

explains the extremely cut down scenes of brutality against women desu, i honestly doubt it was a matter of censorship alone. im sure the director just found the idea of depicting such acts too "distasteful" for film

>anime reaction image

And they are not even THAT good, just decent enough

Don't care, still great.

>Read a book

wew

iirc she directed another movie with lots of fap material.

She might be into that kinda stuff.

>mfw probably touched herself while directing the workout scenes

The direction was shit. Most people who've seen the movie without reading the book don't even get alot of the important key points. Namely that the killings weren't in Patrick's head. The real estate agent cleaned up the corpses he left in the apartment, and Jared Leto's character is really dead. The director has said in interviews that she made a number of mistakes in the movie and she would do things differently now if she could.

Thought she did Zero Dark Thirty

yeah, that part of it is a shame, but the absurdity of every bateman scene is too hilarious for me to disavow

the book was fucking AWFUL legitimately one of the only pieces of literature I threw out halfway through reading.

Movie was good though.

What's Green Goblin doing with Batman?

You know Patrick, I'm something of a national socialist myself.

You should just stick to reading Harry Potter then, you disgusting pleb.

I was more surprised that the whole point of the movie was to call reagan an american psycho

The buisnessman parts are meant to be boring.
>inb4 b-but being boring proves that it's poorly written, regardless of whether it's intended or not!
no, just because something doesn't pander to your millennial ADHD mentality doesn't mean it's 'bad'

...

Who doesn't know that?
