Anyone who knows anything about Godzilla knows that the 2014 film was worse than the 1998 film
>Godzilla is depicted as heroic from the outset >People fucking applaud him as he leaves >At no time does he simply destroy shit and kill people for seemingly no reason >There's no silly or convoluted human story in the background
At least the 1998 film got it right that Godzilla was a monster and that ultimately he is not humanities friend, the humans goal is to kill him because he's dangerous
Even ignoring the original Japanese works, the 1998 film had more compelling human characters and threat
Ian Scott
Both shit
Colton Lewis
Apart from the appearance of Godzilla, the 1998 one was fine (compared to the standard Godzilla film)

Nicholas Williams

Benjamin Lopez
>people who don't know shit about Godzilla Why are you defending the 2014 film? Did your dad direct it?
Chase Ramirez
you can argue that the human characters in the 2014 film were boring, but what the movie had to get right, aka godzilla, it fucking nailed. 1998 godzilla was no godzilla. emmerich could've called it 'attack of the giant lizard monster' and it wouldn't make a difference.
Christian Williams
>but what the movie had to get right, aka godzilla, it fucking nailed. Except it fucking didn't He was portrayed as a superhero
>emmerich could've called it 'attack of the giant lizard monster' and it wouldn't make a difference. Pretty much what a Godzilla film is without a monster villain to fight
Tyler Jones
godzilla is a force of nature, he doesn't take sides or fights for humanity. he fights for earth, if you so will. the only time he was actively protecting humanity and fighting vs evil aliens was when scientists brainwashed him.
James Roberts
>People will defend the Cranston bait and switch
hahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH
Charles Phillips
>Pretty much what a Godzilla film is without a monster villain to fight
he also was way too small, had no atomic breath and was easily hurt by the military. there is much more to godzilla than 'big dinosaur who fights weird creatures'.
Matthew Howard
Is Godzilla a metaphor for atomic energy and science gone too far?
No? Then your Godzilla movie is shit.
David Hill
>godzilla is a force of nature, he doesn't take sides Except at the end of the 2014 film after defeating MUTO he walked through a crowd of cheering people without hurting anyone or fucking shit up and just slinked off back into the water
He fights other monsters when they get in the way of him fucking shit up and killing people
Juan Harris
his job was done and humans are no threat to him. that changes though when mechagodzilla comes around
Ryder Flores
>He was portrayed as a superhero
so what? japs already made hin in a heroic way in those silly fun movies
Gavin Peterson
>not muh godzilla!!
Oh fuck off not even the japs takes that seriously
Parker Gomez
>not getting the im to ´´tired for this shit`` Godzilla
he is like the ancient evil that woke too soon because some minor evils are tryng to steal his turf
Jackson Wilson
Shut the fuck up you sissy little trap boy You haven't seen enough Godzilla movies to be able to talk out of your ass and for the record (You)
Carson Martinez
he was heroic in the 70's and some of the 60's that shit is in the past, besides this was supposed to be a reboot or something, Godzilla on his FIRST appearance has to be a villain
Angel Bell
>Pacific Rim X Godzilla will never happen call me an epic memelord all you like, but that would be so cool
Andrew Nelson
Must be nice being 13
Isaac Moore
I bow down to your mature and sophisticated tastes, user
Jackson Flores
Nah
Jeremiah Davis
He's no more a hero than the bigger fish was, in The Phantom Menace was a hero.
Cooper Wood
and that's too heroic for Godzilla
Godzilla is an outright villain most of the time
Aaron Mitchell
in a away i agree but you know hollywood, they need to make a franchise...soo the anti hero godzilla is a better option for the american audiences
Nicholas Torres
2014 film is not bad but it should be called "Godzilla vs Muto", not "Godzilla".
Jackson Taylor
Nice bait.
Godzilla 2014 was as close to a Japanese film as you can get. Its structure is similar to ToMG.
Jeremiah Collins
>I have never watched a Japanese Godzilla film
Jack Evans
both have their problems, i'd go with 98 any day of the week, 14 was shit
Kevin Russell
Are you high? In almost every single "versus" movie save for the Mothra ones, Godzilla is portrayed in a heroic light (or at the very least a lesser evil) that comes in to save humanity from bigger badder monsters before fucking off to go back to sleep.
Carson Jones
Why would he kill people on purpose?
You kill ants on purpose?
No.
Nolan Hill
1991 Godzilla v King Ghidora
>people timetravel and kill godzilla >king gidora fucks up japan in the present >godzilla is still alive >they get his attention >godzilla defeats ghidora >THEN GODZILLA STARTS DESTROYING BUILDINGS AND SHIT FOR NO FUCKING REASON >Humans defeat godzilla
Nolan Phillips
>almost every
There are exceptions, but they arn't the rule. Especially in the Showa era.
Also you forgot to mention that Godzilla in the Hesiei universe was initially comparatively chill before the timeline was altered to make him bigger and badder and more of an asshole, which was the second unintended consequence of the time traveling.
Wyatt Smith
>was initially comparatively chill before the timeline was altered There were only two films before that in the era and while they said he became more aggressive, he was already pretty aggressive in Legend Reborn at least
Nicholas Kelly
D R O P P E D R O P P E D
Hudson Sullivan
you literally cant make this shit up
Luis Edwards
Daily reminder this is what Shin Gojira's atomic breath looks like.
Godzilla (in this adaption) is portrayed as a monster predator who hunts other monsters for food (radiation) and sport. (Japanese Godzilla destroyed cities in search of radiation.)
It fights for no one but itself, so it's neither a hero or a villain; but rather a monster beyond our understanding or control. It will hunt, and humanity can't do shit about it.
American Godzilla however is shit tier in terms of power level. If two bugs can fuck it up, then King Ghidorah and/or Destoroyah will bury the "Alpha Predator."
Ethan Davis
1989 Godzilla v Biomante
>godzilla beats biomate >fucks up Osaka on his way to a power station to refuel
