They won't say "lose 80 pounds", they'll provide resources to help you do it. If it were truly an urgent medical emergency, they probably would have recommended surgery. Since they didn't, you should probably just find a healthy but reasonable non-fasting diet to lose weight at a healthy, steady pace.

Too many people try the extreme diets where you're eating like 800 calories a day and are shocked when it doesn't last forever. You need to make a true lifestyle change, there are no quick fixes, especially for losing 80 pounds.

Water fasting just sends your body into a full on we're-not-eating-shut-down-the-metabolism panic. You won't lose much weight, you'll feel like shit, and you'll pack it on as soon as you get food in you.

I know it sounds rough, but the best way is really the same thing doctors have been recommending since the 40's. Restrict your diet to about 1600 Cal (actually restrict it. A soda or a cupcake will destroy that balance), and exercise at least 3 days a week. Yes you will feel physically uncomfortable. You will feel sore. But you will lose weight and become healthier.

Replace your meals with protein shakes like slim fast, just two a day. One for breakfast and dinner, no more no less. It'll be enough to keep u alive and help u lose some wait. Starving yourself isn't good. Walk at least two miles a day. Fat burners could help if your doctor says it won't hurt ur liver. Routine routine. Don't give up. I lost 30kg this year (66 pounds). Here's my strat:

- Eat low calories, no carbs during the week (Atkinson kinda).
- Weigh yourself EVERY SINGLE DAY without fail, and record it. This is VITAL, as it will provide motivation for avoiding eating that pizza. Have a goal weight for the end of the week.
- Eat whatever the fuck you want on the weekend. I mean WHATEVER you want. For me, every meal on the weekend was a cheat meal. This gives you something near term to look forward to during the week, so you can avoid giving in to cravings.

It should be noted that this isn't a diet that will work long term. It will help you lose a lot of weight fast, but long term you'll need to develop a better relationship to food. Easier to do when you're not massively overweight, IMO.

Bonus tip: Get yourself tested for insulin resistance. We store fat when our bodies produce insulin in response to consuming carbohydrates. Some people produce WAY too much insulin, and therefore store more fat. This is called insulin resistance. Get your doctor to give you a fasting glucose tolerance test where they test INSULIN, not just blood sugar (which may be perfectly normal). If your insulin spikes massively, and stays up for an extended period of time, you have insulin resistance. If this is the case, you can go on a drug called Metformin. There's a slow acting version and a fast acting version. The slow acting version is for diabetics, you need the FAST ACTING VERSION. Take this every day and it will help you with your weight big time.
