Was 2000 the best year for music period?

Was 2000 the best year for music period?

1966-1969

that's not a year

I thought you meant 2000s and using the word period usually means a couple years.
sorry

1973

2000 (and that whole decade) was so sterile. Same with this decade to be honest.

No. The correct answer is 1991.

1997 was better

K dad

1969 had Abbey Road, In the Court of the Crimson King (top 10 album all time easy), Zeppelin I & II, Tommy, Trout Mask Replica (honestly hate it), and Let it Bleed. A bit of dadrock in there but it's quality shit nonetheless.

2000 was pretty good, though.

Not my fault if you were born late.

Yes it is retard, you're his dad

>white pony is the 9th best album of the year

Yeah, no.

69 (lol)

97 is definitely a competitor too for best music in a year

Seconding '73

Was 2007 the best year for music period?

God damn thats almost as bad as 2015 LOL

According to Rate Your Music (not scientific but it gives a good ballpark) the best album of this decade so far is TPAB. It isn't a bad album, but for past decades it has Kid A for 2000s, OK Computer for the 1990s, Doolittle for the 1980s, Dark Side of the Moon for the 1970s, Court of the Crimson King for the 1960s, and Kind of Blue for the 1950s.

There's a pretty big gap in quality, but I feel like some new shit is on the horizon.

Music really went to shit after the 60s, damn...

Radiohead has the decade’s best album two decades in a row

Confirmed for greatest band of all time

1967
1969
1977
1979
1989
1997
Basically years ending in 7 or 9

le wrong generation :

i really like this thread

nigga wtf r u talking abt

early 2000s was GOAT thinking of it 1997-2002 those whole 5 yrs was the last renaissance really

2009-2013/14 not that bad tho

>Doolittle is the best the '80s has to offer

best thing up here is Talking Heads or Sonic Youth

Recency bias. Also Doolittle is ABSOLUTELY not the best album of the 1980s. I would even say that OK Computer isn't the best album of the 90s but I don't feel like fighting that one because the internet has enough OKC arguments to last 10 lifetimes

>rain dogs under anything metallica
lmao

I didn't put what I thought was the best, just the chart. (I did slip King Crimson in front of Velvet Underground for the 1960s because I didn't think the banana album was any good).

How the fuck has nobody mentioned 1991?

Loveless
Yerself is Steam
Spiderland
Laughing Stalk
The Low End Theory
GOAT
Screamadelica
Bandwagonesque
Out of Time
etc.

What more does one need?

>just the chart
>did not post just the chart
what did he mean by this?

these

yikes...

refer to
I don't think Doolittle is that good, the first album in the 1980s list I even like is Master of Puppets.

The 1990s were great, there are dozens of legitimate answers for what the best album was.

I had to get the best album by decade myself, RYM doesn't show it automatically. It would have been 7 pictures or 10,000 hours in MS Paint.

good music

>RYM doesn't show it automatically
what are you talking about

97 is fucking stacked

>the first album in the 1980s list I even like is Master of Puppets.

That tells us all we need to know

Wasn't kekking at you, was kekking at the '80s for being such shit.

It's 1994 you fucking cuckolds

I think he means there's no discogs chart that JUST shows the #1 album of each decade, he had to go to the top albums of each decade list and write them down here, or copy each list into MS Paint and crop out everything but #1

shiet

I was just pointing out that in his post (), he says that he wasn't letting his opinion get in the way and was just posting the top and then a sentence later admitted that he didn't.

t. numale

1971 bois

'71-'74 was unstoppable. I think we can all agree on that.

'89
Bleach
Disintegration
Doolittle
On Fire
Paul's Boutique
Stone Roses
Technique
Pretty Hate Machine
3 Feet and Rising

pretty good if you ask me.

'97 is hard to compete with when it comes to more modern music but nonetheless '69-'75 is pretty much year after year of consistently killer albums.

2013 was epic

Giving my vote for 77
But 2000 was pretty solid yeah

Yeah easily the best of the decade so far

the latest year is always the best year in music. are we nearly dad?

>Radiohead's worst album
>8 other shitty, unmemorable albums by forgettable artists

I forgot what point you were even trying to make, OP.

seriously asshole? might win best artwork

contrarian, if you're just gonna imply your obviously better taste then at least counter with what you think is a good year for music.

no but it is the best year for anime

you're trying too hard. It's one thing to just dislike Radiohead as a whole but to imply that Kid A is their worst album is just pure contrarian for the sake of contrarianism

add one bud

i forgive you champ

If 2000 was the best year, then there would be albums better than white pony and whatever the fuck voodoo is in the top 10.

There are... Flood and Spirit They're Gone are both God tier

It's 1967 if you have to pick one year, although 66 and 69 both had some fucking unbelievable releases too

All of these albums are bad. Kill yourself, pleb.

>he doesn't know white pony is god-tier

wew

There was amazing music in every year offering different styles and types of music.

right answer only 4 posts in

60s and 70s was so fucking cheesy pop/rock drivel full of junkies and 4 chord ditties

fuck off 1997-2002 is the last era music was original and stimulant

tom waits is trash

2007 was a brilliant year for videogames but a mediocre year for everything else

>2007 was a brilliant year for videogames
Jesus, what makes you say that?

Yeah

>bioshock
>halo 3
>orange box
>mass effect
>mario galaxy
>modern warfare 1
>metroid prime 3

t.edgy contrarian

It was a great year for movies what're you on about

So, what have we here:

1. Aphex Twin for numales

2. soundtrack to films of James Franco

3. peak numalecore, do I even have to explain?

4. plunderphonics for spork afficionados

5. boring numalecore and a yelping spic

6. >meal >food

7. "Yeah, uh we want the Rick and Morty fanbase"

8. ok that one is decent

9. no comment

1991 was one of the first years posted in this thread

Out of Time is pretty bad.

if you browse indieheads

XD!

Best years are between 1994, 2000, and 2012.

obviously not

Rate Your Music is a good ballpark for what white music nerds listen to, nothing else.
