why this worthless filthy whore let don down? he always have been there for her and when he needed her support, she just ignored him. fucking cunt.

Cause she wanted the money the entire time. It's incredibly obvious on rewatch.

don the faggot should have stayed with faye

She, like most women, wanted a lot things. But that included Don. Anyone would be dismissive to say she didn't love him and put real effort into making their relationship work.

I think Don was right in concluding that her actions at the end of s5 proved ultimately that her career goals superceded everything else, even though she was coy about it. Thing is, that's natural. She'd wanted to an actress long before she met Don. She loved him, but that was her first love. And that's natural. Most secure, well-adjusted people don't make a be all and end all priority out of other people.

But Don is Don. And if he can't be at the top of your list, then he'd rather not be on it at all.

Don isn't blameless ever after metaphorically strangling his womanizing ways he goes right back to cheating on her.

Well a lot of the point of that whole "Mystery Date" episode was to show that his inclinations towards philandering were ever-present even though at that point in s5 it was the only time we had seen Don being a true one-woman man. All indications were that he was deeply in love with Megan and being faithful and it seemed like he might have changed.

But the episode used the Richard Speck murders to explore the theme of danger encroaching upon safe spaces, whether it be a letting a seemingly harmless stranger into your house, or toxic temptations into your marriage. Don was fighting his urges, but they were never gone. Best he could do was metaphorically push them underneath the bed for a little while.

he would've just disappointed her eventually

>that he was deeply in love with Megan
debatable only reason he married her was because of a whim plus she didn't try to make him a better man also a bit of a doormat.

No. She loved the power and money. She schemed her way into that marriage at every turn and they make a point of showing you this.

>Marxist dad wealth doesn't matter
>Mom is a whore who values money over all else
>Sees Don is vulnerable and having problems with Fey so goes after him
>Pretends to be interested in advertising and says she wants to make a career out of it knowing full well she wants to be an actress
>Immediately says yes when he asks her to marry him even though she barely knows him
>shortly after they are married she says that she really wants to act and tries to get Don to use his power to get her a job
>Once Don tries to be a good person and stay in NY she freaks out on him and tries to end the marriage
>Constantly asking for more and more money after that
>Implied cheating on Don out in CA
>When Don comes to visit she always seems worried and disinterested
>Finally asks for a divorce
>Tells him she knows how rich he is and that she wants a huge chunk of it

Yeah she was a gold digger. See Jane for a relationship that she actually tried to make work but was ruined by Roger's personality flaws.

It's a shitty show, no point in thinking about the motivations of any of the characters. It was ultimately up to the whims of the writers/producers of this show. Attempting analysis is just a fedora tipping circle jerk. Always funny to see idiots explaining the deep meaning behind the actions the characters take beyond the first season and try to give it any merit or vision. Why such and such? Because that's what the liberal faggot writers of the show was feeling at the time and that's why they constantly drop it every new season and usually by concluding them in the most bizarre half assed way possible to make way for the NEW really deep direction they want to take the story only for that to be dropped too.

stfu
If anything Megan's problem is she's young and doesn't know what she's getting into and is too in the moment, she's not a schemer.

Right? Even today there are men who just can't be alone and 'need' a wife. A man like Don back then wasn't going to be dating around for a few years and then maybe find someone he loves and is compatible in the long term with. This is why Joan and everyone one else was making fun of him when he announced his engagement.

Megan was also a scheming bitch it just so happens she accepted Don's crap because it was boosting her career. That's why she waited until Don and Faye was separated to make her move

If anything Don was scheming, he needed Perfect Wife (to dump his mommy issues on, cheat on, have to take care of and make new children): Brunette Edition.

Don was acting on nothing but impulse she took advantage of it. They're both horrible people get over it

Don was a fucking serial cheater, he deserved getting fucked over in the divorce and i'm hardcore against feminism and sheit, he just was too much of an ass.

They were both scheming and didn't really want each other. Don wanted a wife for his kids, Megan wanted the money and power to live like an actress.

And Faye wasn't going to put up with that (and was getting a little old to have kids? forget her character's age) and Faye was smart enough to know Don's deal already even if she hoped she was wrong. If Megan hadn't hit on him it would have been with the next woman he made eye contact with. And at first I think megan really did think she could stick with advertising and be Don's little doll, but she was wrong and didn't want to keep lying to herself and made a change, which is more than most characters on the show can say.

I thought that but after watching it 5x I have to agree with I don't think Megan necessarily planned on leaving him but she sure didn't marry him for love.

Don rushed into a marriage with Megan because he was lonely and she was unique in comparison to every other girl he'd been with (young, intelligent, good with kids, career-minded, interested in him and his job without being intimidated or awed by him).

He didn't realize until she quit to go back to acting that he had basically married a womanchild, and her using his clout to get cast in commercials destroyed the last of his respect for her. Don reacted to this by treating her like shit and drinking himself into a hole.

On the marrying so soon point- that's just how it was back then, the average age of (first) marriage) was 25 or under until the 80s.

What Weiner was getting at anyway is his and the other writer's take on the struggle to be an artist and the pain of not succeeding or not getting off the ground as fast as you hoped for.

Also, if Megan was such a money hungry whore why didn't she sleep with those soap swingers?
The not love part might be bc Pare isn't as good an actress desu (She's not as bad as people bitch about her being though, I thought Faye wasn't great either.).

You sound like youve seen the show once
