I think it has to do with what your native language is. For instance, I don't listen to French ever but I think it sounds cool. I can't judge Spanish fairly since I live in Texas and it's connotation to me is dirty mexicans and poverty but I think it's fair to judge a language you don't hear everyday purely based on how it sounds to you.
