Pink Floyd is a good band in its own right.
They're a band with aspects that can be appreciated by serious music enthusiasts, like the musicianship and innovative use of new technologies, as well as a status and image in popular culture that garnered them mass public appeal. So be quiet with your 'patrician' paradigm.
Pink Freud
Henry Cow and Samla Mammas Manna
Gong is the patrician 1968-1971 PF
How are they not patrician? Is there any other rock song out there that has the same sound as this track? youtube.com

>A band can't be good if they're popular
How is high school going OP ?
Wishbone Ash, a bit heavier, but around the same era...Birth of the twin lead guitars too.
Early Floyd is the correct answer. Everyone knows their first albums are way more experimental and patrician. Also Gong might be another right answer
All of Pink Floyd is 8/10 at worst. They have a batting average that's really fucking good for a band so wracked with bullshit.
Unironically Caravan and Camel. Those are the only prog bands worth listening to.
no pink floyd album is higher than a 6/10. they're objectively trash
The people who compare Pink Floyd to all those prog bands are really missing the point, very different styles and approach
