Bruno Mars' music sounds like he's trying to imitate the Jackson 5's music. While all music is inherently derivative in some way shape or form, Bruno Mars has absolutely no sound of his own. He's just cloning a sound that already came and went a few decades ago. It doesn't sound bad necessarily; if I was in public and this came on the radio or something, I wouldn't mind. But would I ever go out of my way or spend any money for his music? Certainly not.
