Suicide (not a movie)

>Persona
4/10. Didn't see the appeal. Plot didn't pull me in and the kino cinematography aspect didn't seem to fit into the bigger picture.

>No Country for Old Men
10/10. Absolutely fantastic movie. Rock solid plot and acting. Moody and evocative cinematography. Chigurh is horrifying.

>Eraserhead
9/10. Had to watch this a second time to get past the disgust of the first viewing. Truly one of the more disturbing movies I've ever seen. Sound design one of the best I've ever encountered. I am a sucker for surrealist shit so take that in mind.

>Captain America Civil War
3/10. Dumb. Watched it on a flight. I managed to make it all the way through so it's not complete shit.

>The Revenant
8/10. Very solid movie. The "survivor" type of scenes may have been slightly drawn out and I wasn't a huge fan of the dream sequence scenes but great characters and historical accuracy make for great viewing.

>Suicide (not a movie
haha why so mad, pleb?

>Persona 4/10

Oh sorry didnt mean to do it you meant to make the suicide comment to:

>The Good The Bad, The Weird - 7.5/10
If a movie is a Chinese Western, does that make it an Eastern film?

there will be blood - 9/10

kubo - 8/10

se7en - 7/10

NERVE - 2/10 (one point for Emma Roberts in her underwear, one point for actually having a good message towards the youth)

Moon 8/10
Chappie 7.3/10
Jurassic World fun/10
Princess Bride 9/10
Galaxyquest 9/10

5 being an average movie

Yes a south - eastern film.

The Shining: 9/10
Close to perfection as every other time I watched it. This was the first time in a theatre though.

Sideways: 5/10
Some funny moments with the wine tasting but overall nothing special.

Lady Snowblood: 6,5/10
Way to messy plot to compete with serious samurai movies, and too few action scenes to compete with kung-fu shlock. Nice visuals and a cool lead character saved it somewhat.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust: 8/10
One of my favorite animes. Stunning visuals and a romance subplot that actually works well.

The Life of Others: 8/10
Interesting movie about east germany. Excellent acting, only drawback is perhaps that it was a bit slow at times.

Fifth one I can remember so probably something meh

it's funny because spaghetti westerns were based on Kurosawa films to begin with

I'm not trying to pick a fight. but goddamn I was let down by moon. I hated the entire thing. the CGI, the robot, the entire premise. I can't believe people think Duncan Jones has talent.

sleeping giant 9/10
the neon demon 6/10
weiner-dog 8/10
king jack 5/10
assorted works from paul clipson 8/10

I wasn't on the hype train, so I didn't think it was awful, but definitely overrated. I think the biggest issue was the pacing.

>nobody listing their scores in any sort of ascending or descending numerical order

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves - 7/10
Robin Hood: Men in Tights - 6/10
Field of Dreams - 8/10
Dances with Wolves - 9/10
The Last Samurai - 8/10

Don't ask me why, I was on a bit of a Kevin Costner binge.

I think most of us lists in the order viewed.

I listed mine in the order I watched them. Quit sperging out.

Zootopia 6/10
Apocalypto 7/10
Romancing the Stone 7/10
Captain America: Civil War 5/10
Young Frankenstein 6/10 (it has it's moments though)
Dare mo Shiranai 7/10

i had it hyped by people irl and all over the Internet. I was skeptical but expecting to be impressed. I just don't see any value in it. the pace was weird as fuck, as you said. i just couldn't find any value in it, the visual aesthetic, atmosphere, score, message, nothing there for me.

rant over, my apologies.

Apocalypto is a solid fucking movie. Im not one of the many Mel Gibson fans on this board (I was let down by passion of the Christ), but his overly brutal, unapologetic style really worked well when portraying the ancient mayans, even if you got the feel it was a bit over the top. I might even rank it higher than 7

I'm not from imdb. 5 is middling, 6 is a like, and so on.
Just never felt particularly connected with the main character, despite him going out of the way to humanize the outskirt tribes at the beginning of the film.

the lives of others is well written and executed but the philosophy behind the film is to appeal to a wide audience. it's hollywoodized as fuck. do you think this detracts from the film - falsely presenting east germany so that people can empathize with these characters, or is that ok to do?

>chappie 7/10
why do you come here

I dont think it claims to show how east germany was as a whole. The movie is about a powerful mans personally vendetta against the writer, and two men who tries to use this vendetta to rise in the ranks. If someone higher up looked into what they were doing they would probably order them to call the whole thing off due to how much resources was being wasted on an unimportant objective.
