I work as a Public Defender in Louisiana, graduated from law school, all that shit. I've defended everybody from pedophiles, to rapists, to wife beaters, to child killers. AMA

Do you do your "best", even when you know the person you're defending is guilty?

please answer this

OP speaking, and rarely. The first thing your taught in law school your client is always innocent, no matter the crime. There've been times when i can't sleep with myself because i've stopped fucking garbage people from getting the death sentence, but this is what i signed up for, you need to kind of live in a bubble where you ignore the truth if your gonna be any kind of lawyer.

What's wrong with beating your wife?

jesus... thats messed up. but were there any SO bad you just said "fuck it" and just didnt try?

Legally it's wrong because it can lead to assault/domestic abuse charges, but morally who am i to say? One of the biggest defenses for people in law is moral relativism

How backwards is the Napoleonic code compared to normal states?

What's the easiest crime to get away with?

Once, I'm ashamed to say I didn't give up complacently though, that's how you lose a career you spend upwards of 12 years building, i didn't defend him as hard as i could've though. The guy in question killed both of his kids after he lost custody and raped his ex wife. Funny thing is, even though i half-assed the case because of how fucking despicable i though the guy was, we actually won the case

Green text some stories

littering

I haven't studied it too extensively but it seems pretty fucking out there compared to our code of law

jesus. well, you can feel better about that one then. kinda i guess.

what is the weirdest or stupidest case you have ever been a part of?

As dark as it is, it's gotta be sexual assault. Just say she was drunk and 80% of the time your off the hook

can i sue my lawyer 20 years after he never expunged my record?
washington state

I had to defend this one lady who crushed her husband's balls with a wrench in his sleep. We won the case because he admitted to doing cock and ball torture with her in the past

oh... not funny at all.. oh jeez

They say the court favours women. Is this true?

that's going to be on pornhub in three days. god willing right after i finish the therapist hypno stuff.

>getting better rl results from pornhub hypno than from my rl therapist

I don't think so, i don't know the statues in Washington, but my guess would be any charge for that crime wouldn't fall under the statute of limitations in Washington if it was over 20 years ago

i always asked my self why have trials when the guys caught red handed like that scum bag that did the boston bombings

Not here, but in a court somewhere in a really liberal state like California, absolutely it favors women.

Which is how we end up with Pic Related.

Yeah, i do this for a living and even i admit the system is fucked up, I gotta make a living though, and like i said this is what i signed up for

>California
So if I was in California and was up against a woman (for whatever reason) what is a good way to swing back to me?

as a whole, do you feel like the work you've accomplished has made society better? or worse?

I can't blame you.

Whats the most fucked up case you had to deal with OP?

It's a mixed bag. Worse in that i've gotten convicted and guilty murderers and rapists totally off the hook, but good that i've prevented innocent people from getting executed or canned for life

Are u gey? youtu.be/_Uu_sEnNKcI

im sure its a bit of both but which one do you feel more?

For me it was the guy who killed both his kids after losing custody of them and also raping and his wife, that just hit close to home for me because i'm married with two kids and i was defending the guy, and he only pleaded guilty to aggravated assault.

Most fucked up all together was this guy who abducted, raped, mutilated, and tortured 2 19 year olds and dumped their bodies in a swamp. Yeah we lost that case

>you ignore the truth if your gonna be any kind of lawyer.

Not directed at you, but this is what infuriates me about lawyers.

Mainly ones outside criminal proceedings.

do you ever worry that people will come after you for succeeding/failing to defend somebody?

Defiantly good, for me the good outweighs the bad. Sure there have been more guilty people i've let off the hook, but saving someone's life after they've almost been fucked over by a terrible system is so much more fulfilling

details of the torture and mutilation pls for research reasons

>this is what infuriates me about lawyers
this is because you're ignorant
read up on adversarialism
learn how shit works

Dude your telling me, it's not a stretch to say that i am a professional liar

Oh it's happened before, after I got a rapist out of jail his victim's family sent me death threats and shit, one time someone actually showed up to my house

>just shot my wife/husband/mother/etc
>witnesses everywhere
>they're now dead
>cops pull up
>gun still in hand
>arrested

What is the best action to take from here until I meet my lawyer?

so a lawyer verbally agreeing to, and a judge allowing for expungement @ age 18..............and a lawyer not following through......is a criminal matter and not a civil one?

you're also a hack
or a glad-hander
either way-
learn the many bases for all aspects of your profession
or quit pretending to be an attny on /b

>Funny thing is, even though i half-assed the case because of how fucking despicable i though the guy was, we actually won the case

What do you mean by "won" the case? Got him off from the death penalty? Or got him off scot-free, because that seems unlikely to me.

It was a long ass time ago, i don't remeber much, all i know know is that the guy who did it recently died of old age in prison, he was already an old geezer when he got thrown in

Are blacks sort of like...mentally/morally inferior and less capable of understanding and following the law? You know in that sort of way where for them everything is "me" and everything is "now"? Do some black people actually not understand the purpose of having rules?

do you ever have clients who are like, "i'm guilty as fuck and want to plead guilty but the police report is wrong and i'm being charged incorrectly"

the difference meaning a month in county vs 3 prison years

doesn't that make it a little difficult for friends or family to trust anything you say? i cant imagine the total lack of faith all my friends or family would have in anything i say or do because my ability to manipulate the truth is so good that i make my living off it.

So why'd you become a lawyer?

Why is nothing happening with that white lady that got shot?

That was situation was obviously fucked up. Some one has to get nailed.

Talk to nobody and hope for the best, that's all i can really say, With wits + its a violent crime i'd probably say you have about a 80% chance of being fully charged, depending on the state your in

he's no lawyer you sorry /buttfucks

Do you work in NOLA? How long have you been a PD? Do you like it? Salary?

you're no attny
sorry cunt

A lot of criminal cases, and that could be criminal if you pull the story off right, but a lot
criminal cases still fall under the statute of limitations, i don't know if there's much you can do now

ITT: morons
hey dumbshit
OP is not a lawyer
kys fuckwits

Off the death penalty, there's no way he could've been totally scott free

lmfao
ok klownselor

not OP but in my experiences it has more to do with what a person grows up seeing adults around them do. living in the projects and being pigeonholed as worthless no matter what you do makes a person go "fuckit" and just take whatever they need whenever they want it. kids grow up watching siblings, parents, neighbors acting like that and use it as their model of maturity. the cycle continues. black people, white people. doesn't matter. give em nothing to live for except the moment and show them the only way they'll get anything resembling respect is through violence and presto.

Yeah absolutely it makes people not trust you. Hell, i'm surprised i'm still married.

Any cases involving circumcision?

Not so far

Can you greentext/tell some pedophile stories? What they did, who won, how you won, etc.

asking for a friend

Thanks for delivering on some other stories, hearing about this stuff is interesting.

Graduated LSU? And if so did you take BLAW? was it hard?

that's my conclusion i reached a few years ago. thanks councilor.

alotta snackbars on those digits

is your name shaun? im almost positive this case is from lafourche parish

How do you know?
Instead of calling us retarded how about you enlighten us, genius?
Cocksucker.

This AMA sucks

heard about the meth head from golden meadow who axed his neighbor in the head for no reason?

idunno man. it sounds like that would be a pretty depressing way to live, even with all the perks and the money. I mean, I just cant think of any material or societal reward that would be worth being so untrustworthy. Seems like a total departure from the human condition just for the pursuit of money. Honestly, suicide doesn't seem like a bad idea.

Not murder?
Everyone in jail seems to think it's murder because everything in the prosecutors court has to be perfect

i think your reading to much into it, Im sure his wife kids etc trust him and realise that its just his job it doesnt mean hes untrustworthy

how many murders and rapes go unsolved in the US?

Must have been a shitty law school for you have graduated without knowing the basics of English grammar. If you are going to pretend to be someone highly educated, maybe you should take a little more time with your posts.

There's no money working as a Public Defender.

I don't think my local PDs get more than 50-60K a year, which is pretty good for around me, but not with the workload etc.

Not OP, but I'm a lawyer and I can tell you that many lawyers have terrible spelling and grammar.

This isn't TV, these things take time.

That said, I'm pretty sure the nigger is fucked.

There's no reason to have your weapon drawn while you're still in your car.

Isn't it defending them, but rather making sure they get a fair trial?

Yeah, fucking police unions will drag this shit out until people forget about it.

i hope so

I work in IT for my County, and can vouch for this as well.

DAs, Public Defenders, even judges live and die by spell check

Should I go Loyola, Tulane, or Southern for my jd?

lawyers watch countries rise and fall
^_~

Robespierre was a lawyer

Not OP, but the defense attorney's job is purely that of an advocate for the client. Fairness has nothing to do with it. The system sets the rules to ensure "fairness".

if a lawyer know that a client of his will commit or be accomplice in a murder before the fact, can the lawyer be accused of a crime?

i've spoken to two police officers who disagree with your carry position.

stay out of my state, libtard.

You're absolutely right, but I don't think this one will blow over anytime soon.

It's one thing for a cop to shoot a nigger kid, but this is a nigger cop shooting a white lady.

It might drop out of national media, but it won't just go away.

Generally no. Not reporting a future crime isn't a crime in most states. This does, however, give him an exception to attorney-client privilege, so he can report it if he wants to.

If the cop gets prosecuted, everyone is gonna BLM over how its not fair. In the sense of fairness, the only option is to let it blow over like all the others.

Your writing straight up sucks for a lawyer. I'm calling fake and gay.

How much weed do you smoke?

I'm calling fake and gay.

I drink about 3 weed

How much do you know about bird law?

That plus he'e been reprimanded for stuff twice in the past and had turned off his body cam. I figure there is a good chance the city will get sued for having him on the street unless he is somehow a saint.

I probably know more police personally than you have in your entire state, so I'll take my experience and their knowledge ahead of yours.

And I'll gladly stay out of your state if your police are that unprofessional.

How much scratch do you pull in a year?
whats the toughest part about studying to be a lawyer?

Public defenders don't do life sentence cases but good job pretending
