Mine would be woodworker/carpenter

A NEET

Like a really smart mouse?
That's not a profession, I'd get bored after a week. Wouldn't you?

Been neet for two years.
No.

I'm almost a NEET, studying from home, and can confirm it's a very boring life style.

What do you do all day? Not judging you user but how aren't you depressed/bored? I need something to occupy my hands or else I go crazy

Why not get a part time job? Something chill, not soul crushing like McDonald's drive thru

Bringing the world into the future.

a bartender..a chill comfy bar. not a bar where i have to make crazy fruity shit on weird ass ones too. old fashioned. Maybe do some pen testing or something. just cozy living.

Can you be more specific

Same
The only reason I ever got bored as a NEET is that I was always really poor. I'm 36 now and have been working for a really long time and I fucking hate it. There's probably another job out there that I'd like a lot better than the one I'm doing, but I don't think there's any job I'd like better than no job, if money were no object. Tbh I'm very badly depressed and I'm also really just not a very good person.

Because my sleeping pattern is fucked due to the insomnia I've had for the past 2 years+. I'm currently on meds. I hope I can get over it relatively soon.

try to beat my 15 faps a day record to the limit

I think I would kill myself within the year so no needed profession there. Distractions is what keeps me ignorantly going in this world of sick as I feel like shit on a day to day basis.

Hueee, wish I could live a happy life. Brain obviously thinks other.

OP here, id want my own little woodshop, not work at some huge place doing crazy shit. Just a chill little shop, seems cozy. Pic related
You need a job you enjoy. At my other job all I wanted was to quit and never work again, and even thought about becoming a neet somehow. Then I was out of work for only a month and even that was too much time. I found a job I enjoy and work barely feels like work, time flies by and I don't wanna kill myself at the end of the day
I hope so too user, not being able to sleep fucking sucks

I've actually never though about it. I love archeology and history, but never went to college and don't plan on it. So, I'd love to join as a volunteer on dig sites, that sounds pretty fun.

Also, that woodshop looks pretty cozy.

That'd be pretty cool, where do you live user? And yes woodshops are really chill in my experience

My first thought was painter. Like not artistic or anything, just like paint houses fences walls in your house whatever. No one around, play music, make things look nice, sounds good.

But then user said bartender and I remember I had a lot of fun doing that in college, would probably do that.

i bartend, not as fun as you may think

Lumberjack, but with an axe and saw instead of modern tools.

Painter wouldn't be so bad, but I agree bartender in a chill bar would be god-tier

I did some classes in blacksmithing and some in woodworking and loved them both. the wife is on board with me doing small projects outta the garage until we eventually get a property i can build a shop on. that's my happy place.

If I didn't have to worry about money, I'd definitely be a writer. I write short stories and shit all the time when I've got any free time, but I write too slow to be able to publish at a decent rate to make profit.

Jet pilot

woodworking seems great a lathe, turn some bowls. not too bad. i think id be a ceramic artist. or maybe just throw big ass pots and planters. toss on some tunes, very zen activity.

Just craft wonky stuff from a variety of materials, write, generally just build and make a variety of stuff.

Or, alternatively, a car flipper type shit, I'd buy old muscle and import frames, fix them, make them my own, then either sell them, or keep them if I really like the model and how it's done.

Grass is always greener

My dad's makes custom cabinets and earns ~400K a year. Get good retard.

Southwestern US. So the dig sites would be mostly ancient Injun settlements.

Also, I'd love to renovate houses. Like old, abandoned houses. It would be a fun project to fix up and make beautiful again.

Building engines.
I kind of do that now, but on an extremely small scale, like 1 or 2 a year, maybe, and I have to farm out all my machining work to a machine shop.
If I didn't have to worry about money, I'd be able to get the necessary equipment to do all the work myself.

>dad's

Faggot

In this magical world can I change my talents too? Like I have no pitch and can't hit a note to save my life, but I'd be like an opera singer if I could.

If money wasn't an issue for anything then I would go back to school for kinesiology, and be a P.E. Teacher.

Video games, internet. The doctors say I am depressed. I think that I just hide from the real world behind my depression and by bingeing on games. My parents pay for all of my shit but this has strained our relationship. For a while I was slowly pushing everyone away in preparation for my eventual suicide. I have a job interview on Friday and I'm currently unable to sleep because of anxiety and trepidation. It's just gathering carts in a parking lot but the entire prospect is both terrifying and revolting. I don't even have to really interact with people and I already want to off myself. I don't even have the job, yet. Lol

Hopefully you land a job at a high school. Teaching shitty little 7th graders dance is shit. Yes, there is a dance subject. Neither me nor my son are happy about it, but it's there.

Gas Industry Rescue Operator in RU Gazospasatel'

Watching teen girls running around for an hour? who wouldn't want to be a P.E. couch...

(a creepy middle school coach double as our health class teacher, and would straight up watch all the girls as the walk past him. Also wore those thigh high 70s shorts.)

Yep. And imagine if you're shredded. You'll be getting hit on 24/7.

nice thread topic OP

Full time Stack Overflow/Wikipedia contributor, I would learn so much and have an extremely beneficial impact imo

I've always preferred hand tools to power tools
I've always wanted to try black smithing or even just metal working. Maybe just make myself a pocket knife. I'd love my own shop when I've got a house. Somewhere to make stuff, drink a few beers, and listen to music
I like to write but I have no motivation to do it, to each his own though
Like a fighter jet or a passenger jet?
Lathes are fun in woodworking, and when you get good you can make some crazy stuff. Never tried ceramics

Wow never thought of that, thats a great idea, just imagine all that knowledge

tell me why

I'd move into a temperate or sub-arctic wilderness area

I'd love to play music on like a cruise ship or at a quiet club. I'm a bass player and love it more than any of my other hobbies.

Archaeologist- I have a degree in anthropology and use it to manage a casino

Is this something like the furnace operator at auschwitz? Or do you handle the zyklon-b? Yeah, I guess that would be a good hobby.

I'm guessing he has his own business? Does he actually build or has employees?
I've always wanted to find old injun or civil war stuff
Hey as long as you're doing 1-2 a year that's a something. Car engines?Sure user this is a ideal dreams thread
I was nervous for every single job interview I've ever had. I wanted to cancel but that was me being a bitch. Gotta sack up sometimes user, even if it's just pushing carts for minimum wage. Also don't you have anything else you'd wanna do? I love video games and all
but I wouldn't consider that my dream job
What would you do?
Thanks user. Gotta say I love Wikipedia, learning about random stuff I'd never think about otherwise

Same, exactly the same. I would have the most mind blowing wood shop anyone could imagine. God I wish....

Self-sufficient homestead in some rural area, doesn't have to be like Alaska, but maybe Oregon or Montana

Band manager or producer. To be able see multiple people extreme talent and being able to work with them.
I feel that is better then being a famous musicians.

Like a survivalist?
A quiet club sounds cozy
2 archaeologists in this thread. One of my dreams is to dig up some ww2 relics

>Car engines?
Yes. But I do the odd go kart/lawnmower engine every now and then.

>manage a casino

where at?

I'd like to learn how to professionally kill people. The ultimate prey is man.

wow, smells like summer in here

If I had tons of money and would be able to I would just switch profession from time to time and do whatever I just want.
I love history and archeology but I think I'd be bored after a few weeks of digging without finding anything that matters.

In interior alaska right now, summers are amazing. bright at day round the clock. winters hit -50. if you cant insulate and heat your home you die. not as bad near the ocean, that keeps the air warmer.

I wouldn't have to have the craziest stuff, just a few saws and essential stuff. But I wanna get good at hand tools. Have a whole set of chisels and hand saws and just make intricate joints by hand
I've always day dreamt about something like this, have a nice plot of land somewhere with a few animals. I'm definitely too much of a spoiled city boy though so I wouldn't be able to last long. I do wanna move out of the city though. Montana would be cool but too cold for me. Oregon probably because i like rain
What music industry user?

>learning about random stuff I'd never think about otherwise
yeah I think it would be really cool to be a heavy contributor and learn all sorts of weird stuff

Gonna have to lean toward blacksmith or metal working, like a full on shop. Then actually design and build drone submersibles using science and shit. Send them on missions to explore the entire Atlantic ocean.

Either that or start a college, have a rating system for teachers based more on their attentiveness than the difficulty or pass/fail rate of the course. Focus on REAL education instead of testing. Promote practical examples of usefulness. Tuition is free, veterans are PAID to attend, high school diploma not required, don't care where you're from/age/gender/lifestyle.. if you want to be a furry anarchist with a horticulture degree and a minor in Inuit Healing Techniques, more power to ya.

Naw, its just your breath, little boy.

Woodworking is an actual well paying profession. Why don't you pursue it anyways op?

My hat is off to those that live up there. Although I do like gold prospecting.

Are you in Alaska?

I've always wanted to build a go kart or dune buggy
How would you do it user
Wow 3rd archaeologist in this thread, what else user
Alaska is on my bucket list

Shovel monkey for archaeologists.
I already volunteer, but in order to get paid you need at least a master's, it's bullshit.

if i dont need to care about money I think it would be more fun to be a van driver for a touring artist, fuck driving buses tho

Basically any job where I travel around with an act I like, but don't have to be working the whole time the music is happening

I would run my own teahouse. Just a small chinese style place with a selection of high grade teas and an espresso machine for the plebs. Couple of homemade desserts in a display case and some light food like paninis.

I'm picturing wood interior with a bar, and a few tables but mostly booths along the walls. There would also be 2 larger back rooms that can fit around 15 people. Small kitchen in the back and might as well go all in and have a little apartment above it that I could live in.

Not too many clientele. Mostly regulars who use the place as a meeting ground and a quiet place to talk.

Prospecting for gold would be cool

>in interior alaska
>Are you in Alaska?
Nice work on that reading user

Is that an actual full time job? Or do people just volunteer their time or something?
The shop part sounds cool, I always wish I was able to tinker with robots and machines and just build cool stuff
I don't know, too much of a pussy I guess. Parents said I have to go to college. I am working in a wood shop rn though. It's a great gig. Even if I don't make a living as a woodworker I'm still gonna do it as a hobby

you realize that tea houses fitting this exact description exist in most major cities? This is very achievable and you can make a living doing it

The hard part is the importing/customs

yes, and alaska is amazing if you can afford it, even just for a vacation.

I'm a Underwater welder right now, I love most of my job. If I didn't have to worry about income I'd be more picky with what kind of projects I do. More clear, blue water..

WHY THE FUCK OULD YOU WORK AT ALL, read this

Worked for a carpenter for 4 years

He finished product is always great but it's not exactly "cushy"
Veteran worker of my boss lost a finger the other day

>Also don't you have anything else you'd wanna do? I love video games and all
but I wouldn't consider that my dream job

Part of depression is losing interest in things you once loved. Even videogames are a chore sometimes. Just hitting a few buttons to talk to old friends seems to cost more to me than I would ever gain by catching up with them. I don't even enjoy feeding myself. Why would I want to do anything, let alone something that benefits others, over and over again, day in, and day out when I don't even want to benefit myself? At least videogames change with each new disk.

Thread will probably be dead by the time I get this response out.

That sounds awesome, traveling and partying basically
That sounds cozy user. I'd go there I love tea. It might attract a lot of pretentious snobby types but it sounds comfy tier the way you describe it. Get a panini and some tea
Or any rare earth mineral

Oh, thought you were referencing Nat Geo or something

I wouldn't count on that user, your situation is interesting

If you dont have to worry about money, why not get a homestead, homesteads will always have chores so you wont be bored.
And the only money you are bleeding to breed niggers is your property taxes and death tax.

I think both SO and Wikipedia have paid staff, but they are sysadmins and a few high level admins, most of the content creation/moderation is done by volunteers

To work with homeless army veterans and maybe help change their life's.
Also help the children of drug addicts
I see this shit too often.

Even games get old after 10 years, they start to be the same thing despite its a new disc.
just playing games isnt fun.

wrong board, please return to containment

Source: qt 3.14 gf worked in/friend works in teahouse just like this

I would totally visit your teahouse

...

Thread is more lively than other threads at this time of night. Picked a winner tonight.

I dunno what about my self-loathing is interesting but I'm glad you're getting something out of this thread.

Sometimes it feels like that episode of south park on cynicism where one of the kids sees everything through shit-colored glasses. I led an exciting early life (flew planes, travelled, paintball, exploring, misdemeanors, etc.) and that episode had a convenient explanation about burning out your receptors or some shit. Feels like I did that to myself with a combination of excitement, drugs, and apathy.

Swords to plowshares has a live-in manager position in San Francisco working with homeless vets, it was on Indeed.com

Underwater welders are badass user. What kind of work projects do you do?The point of this thread was not to worry about money or any other bullshit, and focus on cozy dreams
I know woodworking isn't cushy. But it's something I genuinely enjoy doing. That's crazy, how'd he lose it?
user I've been in your situation. Don't wanna go into too much detail and write a wall of text but I've definitely been there. You need to do something with your free time, there is too much of a good thing. Get a job user, even being miserable at a job will make video games comfy and enjoyable again because you're forced to take breaks from them

I live in Canada so that doesn't happen.

Instead the government gives my money to some native chief so that he can be a millionaire while the rest of his band lives in poverty despite his one job being to use that money to look after them.

Yes but new games come out from time to time. I'm not trying to play Mario Teaches Typing for the next twenty-five years, nigger.

>REEE, im triggered by facts, im going to call for segregation

yeah, that sounds like it could be profitable if you got good at it and good quality cigars

I'd be all over the place. Also literally. But mostly writing, wood work, stone work.

One of those farmers who get paid to not grow things.

Own a micro-brewery

is that paul seller's workshop?

Nice
A noble user, you a vet?
