what's it going to take to get some love lads?

Not blowing it against shitters like Ohio would help.
Also not being second fiddle in your own state would help.
Also not being in a fucking stacked dog-eat-dog conference would help.
Also not having your key noncon win be barely edging out VCU would help.
Also not having one of the bottom 50 scoring rates in all of Division I would help.
Also having more than one tournament win in the past decade would help.

But hey, don't let that stop you or anything.

>UCLA

What went right wrong?

>Duke consistently taking the dicking
delicious

Being sloppy, especially on defense.

>But hey, don't let that stop you or anything.
>5-4 in the ACC
>Five more conference wins than most people expected (Us) to have all season
>Three wins over top 15 teams in our stacked dog-eat-dog conference
It doesn't look like it's stopping us to me senpai.

Your list is accurate, but it isn't entirely relevant. We were expected to be one of the worst teams in D1 this season, started out rough but not horrible and have since started playing ball that nobody predicted we were even capable of.

Regardless, I'm not actually upset that we're not getting tons of attention. People have started talking about us, we got a lot of love on Saturday for the Notre Dame win, and most importantly we're playing much better, years earlier than I expected. If we do actually manage to finish out the slate with a record that gets us into any postseason tournament, I'll be giddy as fuck.

There's a difference between being better than people thought and being deserving of respect now, user. Sure, you're proving people wrong by being a middle of the pack team in the ACC instead of in its basement, but the sad truth is always that nobody cares about teams unless they make the main tournament, which you will likely not get.

You've got more than a decent shot at the NIT though, so cheers to that. Keep on booty blasting the ACC, it's good for everyone to watch.

>which you will likely not get
Maybe, maybe not, I don't know whether we can keep this up for the rest of the year but following the Notre Dame game we've finished with the hardest half of our conference schedule. If we win at least four more games, I think our chances of going to the dance are pretty good. I saw this morning that CBS has us projected as an 8 seed, SI has us at a 10.

As far as earning respect goes, we've got a ways to go before we get that back. Between Hewitt's last few years and Gregory's entire tenure, we became a has-been with one or two decent players rotating in and out. By the time Gregory left, anyone with any star power had apparently just gone.

As much as I've enjoyed the recent upsets, the game with Clemson this week will be very telling. If we come out and get bitchslapped by a struggling team, the rest of the season may not be much fun.

Yeah I'm not saying to already count you out, there's a non-zero chance you could make it. I just really don't see it happening with how Februrary usually shakes things up. If you can keep your momentum and put up a good showing in the ACC tournament, it's possible, but too many things can go wrong since it's not always up to your own team whether or not you make it, and you're not that high on the bubble to have much breathing room.

But hey, keep playing like you have been these last 2 weeks, and there's a chance. A slim chance that I wouldn't bet on, but you're not out just yet.

True on all counts. We've only got three home games remaining out of the eight games left to play, so even if we win out at McCamish, we'll have to steal a couple more on the road. And yeah, the ACC tournament is what'll make or break us for the dance. A .500 finish in the conference combined with one, maybe two wins in the tournament almost certainly gets us selected but losing on day one will drop us to the NIT.

I'm just excited to even be able to toy with the idea of THIS team playing in the postseason. What Pastner has done this year is nothing short of remarkable, no matter how we finish out.

Either way, tournament or not, you're going to have to keep playing at this level for several years for people to take you seriously again. You don't want this season to just be dismissed as a fluke.

Yep. And I think Pastner is a good coach but he's going to have to bring in better talent than what we've been pulling the last several years. He's bringing the best out of the players we have now but we can't keep doing this with a couple of decent players and the rest of the roster filled with literally whos. But I do feel optimistic about his ability to do that.

USA Today posted a pretty good article this morning about his time in Memphis, the transition to Tech and this season. Worth reading if you're bored and curious.

Where the fuck is >sneak? I thought he said he was going to do weekly bubble watch updates

I found this picture in my school's guide under pro players

Isn't this a little insulting considering he's the other guy in this picture, not Kobe?

Don't really follow much of NCAAB. Do people basically not give a shit about the AP polls during the regular season? Is there some reason why Kansas got jumped by Gonzaga after beating a top 5 team on the road? Not trying to shitpost, just confused.

Maybe not, "touched Kobe once" is probably the best thing on his resume.

They lot to west virginia last tuesday, teams often play more than once a week so you need to win multiple times to not lose spots in the rankings.

>drop to 8th after two straight losses

Not so bad.

It was a fucking crazy week, you're lucky that you didn't drop further.

I really hope duke loses and falls out of the top 25

Gonna drop more when the Gators bust yo ass.

I'd laugh too, though mainly because Notre Dame hasn't been in the conference long enough for me to hate them as much as I hate Duke.

How sad is it that we're both still on here?

RIPIP ghost phog

Duke is going to break this open at some point. ND is wasting too much.

I'm working on a statistical bubble model atm. Not sure I'll have time to do weekly updates or anything, but once I get things a little more developed I might do some leading up to Selection Sunday.

Furthermore, 73-51 will be the final score.

I realy hope you make the post season, Georgia Tech user. Definitely my favorite team in the ACC along with louisville

We'll see. I have done bubble watches in the past when 8 Ball was no show, but I was just using intuition instead of actual numbers, which is what I'm trying to do more of now. Also it takes a surprisingly long amount of time to throw all that shit together in paint. imo /cbb/ OPs should just include a link to the Bracket Matrix for bubble purposes if no one's going to do it. It's a pretty good gauge of the situation.

But for a conversation starter here's a quick ranking of 16 bubble teams from my working model. It's still very much a work in progress, so don't take it too seriously.

does Clemson have any quality wins this season?

SCar without Sindarius doesn't count

man Oklahoma State sets a ton of moving screens, every time the defender goes under the screen the screener always conveniently times his "roll" to wipe out the defender.

Along with USC, UNC Wilmington and Wake gives them 3 top 50 RPI wins. Not really quality, but it makes their resume look good.

Oklahoma has to be the dumbest fucking team in Division I

Brah. I've spent my whole life as a WVU fan. This year im actually feeling it. Took Bob a couple years to get players and figure out a plan for the big 12. It might just be time. Im worried about this town though. It will be burnt to the ground win a national championship is won.

Member a few days ago, that story that was published incriminating five KU basketball players in the rape of a 16 year old girl? The article stated that the players were being processed as WITNESSES to this rape. However, I have received insider information that 1 of the 5 players was actually the one who committed this horrendous act.

That player is future lottery pick Josh Jackson. I’m not sure when the news will officially break. I’ve heard rumors of very high-profile legal teams being contacted to work this case.

Pic related. It's the KU athletic program in a few days.

Akron just came back from a 47-33 deficit at the end of the first

Bless you user. In particular, send the vibes to Okogie. Dude can play like an All-American some nights and a Mercer reject on others. Too much of the latter in the first half.

Fuck you
We need this win more desperately than Tech does

lolwut. How do you figure? Clemson lost six straight ACC games and was still being projected to get into the tournament ahead of us, even after our third top 15 upset. And after we'd beaten you. You're going to win this game but we needed it every bit as much as you did, more I'd say.

what if i told you im an insider and thats why i know its false

1. We haven't won a conference home game
2. We'd be 2-7 with a loss. No fucking chance to get to .500
3. We don't have a good ranked win since the Gamecucks had their best player out
Our decent non-conference won't overcome a 6-12 conference record

You came runner up in the NIT last year didnt you? Why dont you give that a try again, Clemson?

We didn't make the NIT last year you faggot
We've made a postseason tournament once in the last 5 years and that was 3 years ago

You know what? You're right. I wasn't thinking about our remaining schedule, which is easier than the league games we've already finished, and probably easier than your remaining slate since you've still got Duke and two games with FSU. Though if we're going to play like we did tonight, we may as well be playing NBA teams.

Point made, Clemsonbro. Good win for you tonight, I'll be pulling for you to get your shit together and go dancing.

Ben Lammers is a beast. Dude doesn't quit on a play, doesn't quit on a game. If Okogie and Jackson get their heads out of their asses and start playing with a bit more consistency, we can avoid getting BTFO like this again.

What the fuck
I legitimately dont know why I believed that.

Well then it would be a good benchmark for the Clemsom team to make the NIT! I dont know why you'd be upset

How badly has football fucked up basketball?
Look at how big of a mess the ACC is right now

Best mess in the nation tho

Why aim for the NIT when we can go to big tourney?
Besides we went to 4 straight tourneys without winning a first round game

Although I understand why we'd settle for the NIT considering we stormed the court when we beat Belmont last time we were in it

>OT game between NIT teams is blocking a top 5 matchup
