Ireland is an overwhelmingly progressive country. A country founded on liberal values. My country wouldn't exist if it weren't for the sacrifice of immigrants, such as, James Connolly and Éamon de Valera. Even the current conservative party leans to the left of the political spectrum (imposing a carbon tax, etc.), not to mention that the leader of our government is an openly gay man who is of Indian descent.
Ireland, as it is, has one of the highest standards of living in the world and currently ranks higher than the US and the UK on the human development index
Take a listen to our national anthem:
Soldiers are we, whose lives are pledged to Ireland, Some have come from a land beyond the wave, Sworn to be free, no more our ancient sireland, Shall shelter the despot or the slave
We fought conservatism and British imperialism, and if you don't like that, then you should fuck off back to England.
You mean that "famine" that was actually an attempt at genocide, a holocaust of sorts, all to "support" the "Empire". Get fucked, cunt
Jose Powell
so was it fake or was it a genocide?

"Ireland was actually exporting food to England during the famine, because the sacred principles of Political Economy said that that’s the way it has to be: if there’s a better market for it in England, that’s where the food has to go, and you certainly couldn’t send food to Ireland, because that would have interfered with the market." Watch the video, you moron.

Linking the video saved me time from writing out something that is seemingly well-known and historically accurate.

There was an economic historian who researched the question and published a book on her findings about twenty years ago. She concluded that all famines since the Industrial Revolution and most before were precipitated by abusive economic policies. That connection is very clear in the Potato Famines.

Indeed. Geoffrey Boycott for one was a minority of people who actually took a stand against rack renting policy and shitlords who owned the land. He probably saved quite a number of families due to his intervention to ridiculous rental rates. If only they would do something similar these days against not only vulture fund capitalists, but the fact half the fucking Dáil owns rental properties and would hate something like that to happen in modern day Ireland.

>A country founded on liberal values.
Well no suprise then you are such losers for so long that you still can't unite that island of yours.
