Why are americans so afraid of jersey sponsors

why are americans so afraid of jersey sponsors

it would ruin the aesthetic

theres enough ads in this world

They already have to deal with plenty of ads, give them a break.

because tradition is really important in our country that's 600 years younger than yours

They already have to deal with plenty of breaks

because it might lead to less commercial breaks

What's wrong with Jersey?

Wops

It's a bottom 10 state

Because having commercial break all the time in a game is much better than having a game with no commercial breaks but ads on the jersey.

They're not, their sports are filled with commercial breaks or a million other ads that bomb you every single minute before during and after the game

Teams don't need sponsors in their jerseys because the league gives them money and the league has it's deals, do you think our teams WANT to have all those ads? We don't but we need the money

They need constant commercial breaks for eating/ drinking/ shit talking because of their natural short span of attention. Imagine they would be forced to watch a match for 45 minutes straight.

It's a shithole

It would mar the uniform's appearance. Do take a look at a NASCAR driver's jumpsuit to see what I mean. Also, i don't think it's any secret that we get deluged by advertising during any sports event, so no need to fuck up the jersey. I don't think that any NBA, NFL, or MLB team would need the extra cash anyway. They are obscenely profitable already

cuz it looks ugly.
doesn't matter, it will happen and already is in the nba next season.
it WILL have to happen because despite what these dingdongs are saying, TV revenues WILL drop straight through the floor in the next 20-30 years and the smart leagues are going to start phasing the ads on the jerseys in now to avoid potential problems when they're financially weak.
in 20-30 years, boomers will be dead, the last true, dedicated, televised sports viewers. Gen-X and younger people primarily consume sports through other mediums like league pass on their phones, tablets or PCs, rather than paying for TV packages. Those that do pay for TV packages usually bring over friends for viewing parties, so maybe only a few people in the friend-circle will actually be paying for it. TV revenues will drop straight through the floor, and they'll need to either make it up with subscription fees for their alternative services (which won't be as much money as the networks are throwing at the leagues to try to keep THEMSELVES afloat despite declining prime-time viewership), or selling alternative ad-space like a jersey spot.

Sorry ameri-bros, shit sucks. But get used to it, it's coming.

Have you ever seen South American soccer kits?

Yeah fuck that bullshit.

he

Because even if they did have jersey sponsors, they'd find a way to keep the ad breaks the same.

Why not solve the problem in a alternative way. By giving a free streaming option to people, but it includes the occasional on screen ad, specific to the streaming player? Or you can pay for an ad free version as you would an app on your phone.

>tfw too distracted to respond to this banter

You win this time, Klaus.

because the sports leagues aren't generally in the business of negotiating massive ad-deals. they leave that to the network and negotiate a TV deal with the network itself to broadcast their games. Since the viewership would be so miniscule to start, they also wouldn't get hardly anything for those ad spots. And even if they took the time and spent the legal fees to hire an army of lawyers to negotiate all these piecemeal ad deals it wouldn't even come close to the amount of money they're getting by selling their games to the networks, because the TV networks need sports games in order to maintain any viewership at all at this point. Most TV is garbage, the TV people do watch is mostly TIVOed/DVRed/whatever you call it and people skip the commercials. Corporations buying ad space are aware of this, they don't live in a bubble, and pricing during these time slots is decreasing as a result. The only things people still reliably watch in real time are sporting events, and the people who do that are mostly going to be dead in the next few decades. Your idea might be a solution once enough people migrate away from television and the networks already have a large, established online viewership. For now, most of the people who watch sports via a subscription service are dedicated fans who would probably pay the fee anyway, and people who aren't willing to pay and would watch the ads are mostly people who wouldn't be watching anyway or still watch on live television.

Euros always say Americans have too many commercials. That's fine. That way we don't have to see gawdy jerseys with ads on them, like they have to. Horrible.

Cuz that way their fat asses can get a "snack" every 2 minutes.

the fans overwhelmingly wanted individual sponsorships in MMA

the sport went from this...

...to this

from sushi chefs to gay bar dancers, great """"""""sport"""""""""
All these, it also means owners have less things to compromise.

Why is MMA so fucking gay?
