But a thick, grown out afro isn't accepted as professional looking any more than me letting my hair and beard grow until I look like a member of the Hell's Angels. My hair grows out straight and falls down instead of curling up. Most professional jobs that I've had have required that I keep my hair cut above the nape of the neck, over the ears, and off of the forehead.
