Sooo..is that connected to some other novel series? I'm American, ain't got time for reading.

Yes. The Dark Tower. Which is about to become a series. All Stephen King's books are connected.

It was a deadlight (they look like driders) from the Dark Tower. Existed outside time and space. Crashed in Derry and lived in the sewers feeding off people over the generations. The clown Pennywise was one of it's many forms.

One thing bothers me about this. Why would a interdimentional eternal powerful deity do something as petty as eat people in some shit town on some shit planet?
Why bother with something so insignificant?

Humans can't be its prinary source of food anyways since it's so old and the human species is so young.

Because it was trapped there and couldn't use its powers on animals to lure them. It never figured out how to use the gateway to escape Earth.

Not really a deity, it's a type of supernatural creature that feeds off of peoples' emotions (in this case, fear). In the last Dark Tower novel Roland fights a less powerful one (confirmed by King as related creature) which has literally been feeding on one guy chained up in its basement for years and occasionally on travelers who come by its house in the middle of nowhere.

Speaking of which, riddle me this driders: how come Dandelo wasn't a "drider" if he was the same type species as Pennywise as stated by King? When Roland kills him he turns into his true form as a giant insect man thing.

Daily reminder if you call pennywise a Drider you sound like an idiot

That's awesome. Wish they could put info like that in a visual art. Any more info?

IT's final form didn't look like a clown whatsoever.

because IT isnt a drider, you're paying too much attention to a shitposter in every King thread. IT took the form of a spider because thats the closest thing a human mind can come to when trying to make sense of what the creature actually looks like.

and the deadlights is a form of magic, not an entity. IT uses the deadlights (named by stan, not known as deadlights in the universe of the tower) to hypnotize kids then feed while theyre terrified.

This is now a Finn thread.
Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn Finn

because the form of the clown was taken to lure children. IT isn't a clown, nor a spider. definitely not a drider

>in a visual art

stick to capeshit, kiddo. books are way beyond your comprehension

Crimson King & Modred copy the Deadlights form often in the Dark Tower series.
It is a drider.
The fucking comic proved you wrong long ago.
Go troll elsewhere.

Am I the only one who thinks King and his work is overrated?

Yes. Go troll elsewhere.

Who is supposed to be his cousin

He's talking to Roland, referring to him as cousin.

>Giant Spider

>it's a drider
No your just an idiot

All the evidence proves it's a drider. Just because your retarded ass won't accept isn't any skin off my nutsack chumpette.

>drider
idiot

Is Stephen King the biggest hack in the horror genre?

>IT took the form of a spider because thats the closest thing a human mind can come to when trying to make sense of what the creature actually looks like.

>tfw I fully understood this when I first read IT in the 80s, and thirty years later, still think the ending is shit.

Read Pet Sematary for King's much better depiction of an otherworldly, malevolent force.

>your
idiot

It didn't eat people. It fed off of emotions, and found children's fear to be particularly delicious.

Also, I think it was implied it didn't "eat" to survive. It only needed to eat to procreate. Though I could be wrong.

hahahahaha

go back kiddo

Penny Drider, aka Penny Dreadful? Coincidence, I think not.

Pet Semetary is genuinely great, unlike most of King's other stuff.

King never stated that Dandelo and IT are the same species.

IT literally eats people. This is described very plainly.

reading the wiki for it, and I think King's opinion on this sort of thing is why his 'horror' always morphs into shitty fantasy-adventure at some point:
>The subsequent success of the book made King note how both Americans and British readers liked it despite him considering Pet Sematary too bleak in how "it just spirals down into darkness. It seems to be saying that nothing works and nothing is worth it, and I don’t really believe that.”

he didn't even want to publish it initially

It's been ten or so years since I read IT, so you'll have to remind me was it completely eating people or just taking a bite to kill them?

IT says that fear is like salting their meat, it adds flavor. So yes it eats them.

Shit, that's one theory down the drain.

>All Stephen King's books are connected

°Almost° all

He may be popular, and he may produce a lot of pulp, but he is also one of the greatest modern world builders and is ultra creative.

>Is Stephen King the biggest in the horror genre?

Yep

Ignore these shill-posters.

His work is bloated and contains a lot of irrelevant bullshit.

You can say he "world builds" as much as you want, but most of that "world-building" is completely unnecessary to begin with.

If you want to read the biggest most influential writer in horror, read H.P. Lovecraft.

The question was whether King is the biggest hack. Not whether he's the most influential.

For someone who wanted to sound smart, you sure are stupid.

I guess that's why I just stated, "ignore these shill-posters" and gave the person I was originally responding to an actual answer.

Fucking stupid.

Why does this matter so much to you autismo?

Because I am sick and fucking tired of all these spider myths. Its plagued this book for decades. Now its becoming some shitty ass meme. Thankfully the Dark Tower series proved they were driders and not spiders.

>drider
idiot

youtube.com/watch?v=UAgvxY28GI8

fuck your shit movie which is clearly going to be shit.

At this point I can't tell if your trolling or actually suffer from autism.

so they were dark elves?

>Not really a deity
IT considers itself on par with the turtle and the turtle shit out the universe. Yeah, I'd call that a deity.

I originally thought it was a troll, but he can't seem to stop himself, I'm now leaning towards OP being a full blown autist, like for real

Pennywise seems kind of weak actually.

What exactly are his powers?

it is kind of a bummer that the true form is "so complex and beyond our understanding that to us it's just a big spider" what the fuck does that even mean you fucking nerdy Maine faggot. Come up with a cool final form.

Tricking little kids into the sewers.... Ooooo spooky.

Sk is terrified of spiders and nothing is more terrifying to him then a giant spider, its fucking stupid but their you are.

the boys saw IT crash land on earth when they did the smoke hut. do gods crash onto earth?

Hercules and Thor did, plus probably many others.

I thought your mom was a god the way she crash landed on my dick

You don't read good eh?

It's not a d&d style drider. Just like Twilight vampires aren't the same as Dracula vampires.

The old-world gods are just fallen angels, mates.

Every god is just a localized version of a handful of the same ol' gods. There's only one exception.

>style of drider
Your autisim is getting worse, you really should get that looked at

Driders are centaur-like creatures in the game, appearing as drow from the waist up, with their lower portions replaced by the abdomen and legs of immense spiders.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drider
>not accepting facts

no the only reason IT eats the children is because most children believe that monsters eat people so thats what they are afraid of.

That was my point user thanks for the backup

Once more if you call anything but a magically cursed drow a drider you sound like an idiot

It's in pop culture as a drider.
tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SpiderPeople?from=Main.Drider

He can transform into clowns and giant spiders (drider)

>IT not listed

Well the debate is over. Not a drider.

>drider
idiot

if you autistic faggots really want to try and push this d&d shit on sk then your better off comparing pennywise to lolth, not a near brain-dead slave creature

I like King, but I think Clive Barker is more imaginative.

And gay

Pennywise = not a drider

CK = not a drider

Pennywise and CK = not even the same fucking species

>capitalizing "drider"

You're a sperg and your grammar sucks.

>Clive Barke
your not wrong, though you do know he sites King as one of his influences right?

Wrong, they are werespiders. There is a distinct difference between a werespider and a drider.

>the Deadlights form

>implying the only time CK ever used deadlights wasn't in the book Insomnia when he was clearly in his humanoid form, sitting on his throne.

>"the Deadlights form"

You should be embarrassed tbqh, you're that fucking retarded.

oh thank fuck I thought I was alone in a sea of autisim glad some people aren't retarded

You are of course correct user, doing gods work

>muh cenobites

>muh bondage torture porn

>"I'm a Nice Guy why won't women date me?"

*tips fedora*

>even CK thought the Guns of Eld were the key

Everybody in that book was clueless.

>All Stephen King's books are connected.

must be why they're all so shitty

Niko Bellic

>it doesn't eat people it just feeds on their emotions

how does that make anymore sense when the guy just said this supernatural entity is older than the human species?

its a pretty good sign that an author is turning to shit when they start trying to connect all their novels into one multiverse.

having said that I was fine with callahan coming back

They were not werespiders. Stop your bullshit.

they were closer to werespiders then driders they were nothing like driders at least werespider is somewhat accurate

Stop being such a retard

Cause it could not easily escape and really didn't want to. "IT" is a lot simpler than you think. It is intelligent sure but really wants very simple things. It wants to eat and sleep and is sadistic and enjoys hunting humans for sport as well as food.

It picks humans to eat cause fear makes things taste much better to IT. There is nothing it can't decide to eat but since human fears are deeper than animal fears it prefers humans.

Also though its physical body is on earth it can perceive much further than its physical body. Though there is no real proof of the fact IT can see things happening on other worlds of it wants to i am pretty confident.

Also what IT actually is... well it is complex. I would describe IT as an evil Demi-god but not as strong as one might think cause while it has never been done till the time in the book as far as we know... IT using IT's powers opens it up for those same powers to be used against it.

What IT can do is make imagination into reality from either drawing from its imagination or humans. IT however as far as I know has never drawn ideas from its own imagination as IT is very lazy and content. It doesn't think deeply or plan or worry about anything or look into anything too deeply cause it believes it doesn't have to. As far as IT knows nothing can hurt or stop it and so why would it be concerned about anything but fulfilling its own urges.

However once it uses its power that means it has kind of merged reality and imagination/fantasy into one and that IT also has to exist under those rules. Meaning if a human truly believes that they can kill IT... well maybe they can cause IT has made such a thing possible.

>Clive Barker
>women

although his sentence structure sucks this guy gets it

all throughout IT a huge theme is faith=power, if you can make someone believe that x will cause y, examples king uses is a baby crying has power over the parents because they believe that going to the crib will make it stop/its hungry.
so IT brings faith and belief into reality, the victims believe the monster will eat them and so it does, if they believe they can kill IT then they actually can. which is seen through kid Bill's speech about believing bullshit like santa

well put, 100% accurate

Your sentence structure is fucking nonexistent and therefore worse than his.

Kill yourself

damn u really BTFO eh? maybe just stop posting?

The_Dark_Tower_Books_1-8_(epub_mobi_pdf)

There's this torrent on TPB, and I downloaded it, but the PDFs seem a little short. Well, A LOT short. Can anyone with the paper copies look at them and tell me if they are full length? Or maybe the PDF formatting really did take that much off?

yes they look correct, really though the dark tower series is incredibly cheap and you can get it in virtually any 2nd hand book shop for like 10$ i've rebought the series like 3 times over the years and i'm poor af and own a kindle

Flagg is more OP desu senpai.

the very definition of butthurt

he's great

It's also very clearly described that the creature lives off of fear. Eating people is secondary. It's perfectly happy to blow them up in explosions or to get them to stab each other to death.

Clearly some of you have never even read the book.

your splitting split hairs this user described IT just fine

Holy shit how right you are.
>Steve Alten
>Writes the MEG series and it's successful
>writes The Loch and it's successful
>writes Vostok
>sequel to the Loch, prequel to MEG: Nightstalkers
>has to force characters from both series to interact
>stupid alien and metaphysics shit that doesn't belong in either series
>his worst book to date
>ruuns the MEG series with its presence

Yeah, I know, but I am under immense financial strain at the moment, haha.

I was just wondering, just wanting to make sure. I mean the page count on Gunslinger is supposed to be like 300+, and the pdf in the torrent is like 140, haha.

yea I read too much trash, you start seeing patterns

King is a hack, the only reason he picked clown and spider is they are two very common phobias. IT was written during a coke binge and shows all the hubris of a cokehead with a reference book and no one to temper his craziness.
That being said, I still enjoy some of his stuff, Pet Cemetary and Survivor Type spring to mind.

I'm sorry but that's a classic Lovecraft twist. It's from a universe and had a geometry beyond any human understanding. Human's literally can't perceive it's true form.

You know, HPL is more than tentacles and Bloodbourne.

He's a 20th level Illusionist. He can make people believe that things are happening but aren't really happening. He's got a sort of mind control. Mind reading abilities. Immortal. He uses these powers to cause a great deal of harm. When he's active people go on murder sprees. Domestic violence shoots up. People go missing. It always culminates in one huge disaster where multiple people are killed. They seem to be natural disasters or tragic accidents, but are really caused by Pennywise.
