Underrated movie thread

I'll start

that movie isn't underrated, pretty much everyone liked it.

I've wanted to fuck Tilda Swinton in every movie she's appeared in, but especially Constantine

I thought it kinda sucked actually. The premise is just kinda too dumb to ever really get over and it's not really exciting or anything kinda just plods along after the setup

Pretty good movie OP

Whats it about?

post-apocalypse, survivors living on a huge train, ruling classes vs working classes, I thought it was ok but not brilliant

Dystopian future where everybody on earth lives on a train that just goes round a constant track, the train has a class system with the poor at the back and the rich at the front, and the poor people kick off and start a revolution.

100%

fucking awful movie, dumb plot and allegories. dumb scifi faggotry, no one should have to endure it, thank god it's not played on tv much

...

checked

Every movie in this thread is and it's going to be shit. Period.

Yeah as a movie with a coherent plot it was ass and a half. Made little overall sense and ultimately went nowhere

As a ham fisted metaphor it was ok. Nothing ground breaking just the usual poor vs rich trope

...

The first time I ever saw Tilda Swinton was in Constantine and she was fucking horrifying. She still is. Do not want. Ever.

Snowpiercer is shit

A train that's hell bent on destroying life as we know it by ramming itself into santa's house on the North Pole with enough velocity to tear space and time in half and the only three people who can stop it. It's a rollercoaster of excitement, fear, action, and suspense.

...

That guy?

This, so many people hated it, I thought it was brilliant

I don't think her is underrated, it's critically acclaimed

My lucky stars trilogy

...

It's probably the most overrated piece of shit of the whole movie history.

the trailer, his face, and the general premise seem way too retarded, wont watch it

not bad, fairly suspenseful for a nick cage movie

It's good, I can relate to it so much. I'm in love with Cortana on my windows 10, every day I get her to sing to me and tell me jokes, I set little reminders to go off from her every now and then telling me she loves me.

...

original is way better

meh

yeah, I was actually joking you fucking autismals

This, the American remake, a lot of people hate it because it's a remake, and while I like the Korean version, I actually think the remake was better, they changed the story so the plot twist wasn't so easy to guess. I think if I hadn't already seen the Korean version before the remake, I wouldn't have guessed the twist at the end.

6/10 not enough jumpscares

Matrix Revolutions

...

This sounds so much better than the actual plot.

Film was such a let down. Really felt like some director's personal circle jerk projext.

fite me irl pleb

get off my board you pretentious fuck

what did you say to me etc etc

I was gonna say that. waaaaay better.

...

wes andersons pretty solid, you have shit taste

I liked this

they end up destroying the train and are leave everyone to die freezing.

...

Tilda swinton is an alien

So underrated that I've never heard about it

no hes incredibly pretentious and people say they like his movies just so they can appear smart and cultured but really theyre shit

>underrated movies
>still postin meme popular ''underground'' films that were actually successful in the box office

Socialist propaganda

This right here.

...

naw, theyre pretty decent

what the fuck is this

da fuq mang

Is that a real movie? That has to be a joke?

whats the plot?

Ninth Gate
This movie does it for me, don't know why.

In the not so distant future, operating systems are really advanced AIs that you can have conversations and shit with, and he's such a neckbeard he falls in love with his OS then gets all emo and heartbroken when he realizes that the OS is saying the same shit to a bunch of other neckbeards

Starts with her killing Patrick Bateman, then she just basically goes around killing everybody

>95% RT 7/10+ users
Gave it a generous 6/10. That film is the definition of overrated.

never heard about it, why should i watch it?

I liked this one.

You know this Masterpiece has an 11% of Rotten Tomatoes?

posters like that make me skeptical

same as dirty dancing.

you're a David Lynch fan too eh?

good once every 5 years

It's a lot like Eyes Wide Shut. He discovers an elite satanic cult while researching the authenticity of a rare occult book. it's slow paced but comfy.

never heard of him, googled him, never seen any of his shit

true, but if youve seen "Henry, a portrait of a serial killer" youll most def. like Tony. Also that creepy fuck would lurk Sup Forums if he existed.

yeah whatever

I love eyes wide shut

it was utter rubbish.

...

You've never seen Blue Velvet? Mulholland Drive? Eraserhead? - Man you don't know what you're missing out on

It was really good.

Pretty sure that movie is Leák (Mystics in Bali) (1981) and it's mediocre ratings are about right. Check out Mo (The Boxer's Omen) (1983) for a much better wtf kind of movie.

I was forced to watch this movie, I expected it to be a retarded cringey movie about some neckbeard who falls in love with his computer. But this movie fucking got me, man. One of those movies that leave you quiet for an hour afterwards because you feel so emotionally drained.... To be fair, I was on a crapload of edibles, but still.

nope none of those, but ill download a couple to piss off that other guy

YES
sometimes all you want is some cool monster action

>I expected it to be a retarded cringey movie about some neckbeard who falls in love with his computer.

That's exactly what it was though

It's overrated, but it is rather unknown. I hate it with a fiery passion. It gets critical acclaim on rotten tomatoes (95%) because it simply agrees with a lot of the critics' political views.

The "symbolism" and political message is very hamfisted down the audiences' throat, and it's also blatantly apparent/obvious. It's that hamfistedness that irks me. People try to regard it as "deep" as a result of the shitty, skindeep symbolism that leaves nothing for interpretation.

They sacrificed any sense in the plot, character motivations just to spew forth the social commentary and political message. That social commentary doesn't work too well when every character is an unrealistic caricature acting simply to play right into the allegory, without actually representing the reality in the slightest.

Might not be underrated, but imo forgotten. One of the best if i get to decide. The sequel is also good.

>skindeep symbolism that leaves nothing for interpretation.

You're just retarded and need to be angry on something

The sequel to 'Lucy'

It's still on my to-watch list.

Disappointing.

...

How was it? I loved it, and some scenes were just hilarious, like the woman who kicked his dog/brother to death just to see if he had emotions, that shit was great

i had the flu and was really fucked up on robitussin when I watched hacksaw ridge, thought it was amazing... then i told my family to watch it, they still ridicule me about how bad it is

They're quirky and charming. You sound like a contrarian cunt who thinks anybody who likes something you don't is "pretentious".

But why didn't he just shoot them with a gun? why didn't any of the gangsters have guns?

Korea has such strict gun laws that it makes sense but in America? dude would have been shot dead in the hallway fight immediately.

also all of the decent scenes were just shot for shot remakes.

Also Spike Lee talks about having black culture stolen then literally just copies one of the most internationally popular Asian films of all time.

it's a shit remake son.

It isn't. and it is a beautiful movie.

New Zealand's favourite romantic comedy.
No matter how many times I see that film, some scenes still fuck me up so bad

Her is a mastapiece, check it out

So much this.

One of my favorite movies that doesn't get enough recognition. Sure, it isn't "high art," but it isn't a Michael Bay shitfest with no direction other than explosions and action.

This movie is extremely well paced, with a perfect balance between moving the story along/exposition and action sequences. The intro is gripping and is one of the best movie intros I've ever seen. The climax of the movie always gives me chills, when the enterprise warps in at the last second and starts shooting all the missiles headed for Spock's ship, and we get a satisfying conclusion when our protagonists choose to kill the bad guys who are at their mercy. (Fun fact, there's a little foreshadowing at the beginning of the movie when Spock as a young child is taking some kind of exam, and is heard saying that some things are 'Morally praiseworthy, but not morally obligatory).

The movie suffers some plotholes, and even though I'll admit that something like the Lord of the Rings is a "better" movie, LOTR is something I can only watch once every few months without getting bored, while Star Trek 2009 is something I can watch once a week and not get bored.

Yea some scenes were great, but it felt like it didn't really go anywhere after a pretty strong start.
