It's probably because it's VERY similar to MLP, both in tone and art design/color palette, and everyone's developed a natural memetic immune response to anything like MLP at this point.

Every character in the show is fucking ugly. Every single one. And not in a Ren & Stimpy kind of way, but in a 'please accept these fat slobs as normal kids' kind of way.

Ive only seen one episode. I have no idea wtf this show is about, but in the episode the skinny white diamond chick was mad because Stevens mom chose the dick instead of her.
It was a pretty musical episode, but its safe to say i have no interest in such a program.

Its literally just a feel good musical cartoon with some mellodrama in it. There is like two episodes that are about relationships

This, it's also heavily influenced by gangster gook shows like Utena (and even Evangelion if only for a couple episodes), some of the episodic episodes are anime based too (like an initial D, It's good because it's 10 minutes per episode. The soundtrack is great and it's just easy to watch

As opposed to messages like, what, exactly? All media sends a message. Steven Universe's messages are all positive ones, as far as I know.
You know why it's shit?
Because it's another product of post-Adventure Time programming. Sugar is a cast off from that mess and is one of many incestuous 'creators' who got shows simply because they worked on AT. Added to that, AT's influence on modern cartoons is overwhelmingly bad to the point shit like Uncle Grandpa gets something like 4 seasons when it's nonsensical colours and shapes more fitted to babies with no concept of object permanence than a regular 8-12 year old audience who aren't drooling retards. And this is because AT got popular with the hipster ironic youngster nerd crowd and the stoners because it's cuh-razy. AT started a lot of bad fucking trends, like completely ruining a character's comedic effect (see: Ice King) and swinging back and forth between muh lore and lolrandumbXD comedy so bad it felt like it was made by creators with ADHD. It's just a continuation of the bad trends started by that fucking show BY someone from that fucking show. Added to this entire volatile mess is a modern obsession with fan pandering, too. That's so say nothing of any political shit it ham-fistedly forces on its younger viewers who have no fucking clue what's happening and exists solely for the Tumblr fandom fuckers to wank over.
Fuck that show, fuck Rebecca Sugar, fuck Pen Ward and fuck Cartoon Network.
