Scandinavia is more capitalist than America, scoring higher on the economic freedom index. Their current wealth is a result of laissez-faire policies in the past. Much of that wealth was lost when they expanded their welfare policies . Now, Sweden and Norway are swinging very much back in the direction of capitalism.

It is a basic human right that parents should be free to provide for their children. There is nothing wrong with this. Nevertheless, it is historically the case that wealth is lost after three generations. There is incredible economic mobility in free market systems, as in America.

But the issue is that while there have been gains in societal wealth, the distribution isn't even.
What the poor have gained is just a fraction of what the elite have gained.
