If the United States declared war on it's population, who would win? The US armed forces or the civilians?

If the United States declared war on it's population, who would win? The US armed forces or the civilians?

asking for a friend

Nobody would win, many would DIE. War never solves anything.

Make love and peace, not war.

US citizens are already enemies of the state

>Trading with the enemy act
>emergency banking act

probably civs, just look how dedicated shitheads in isis have held up to military force

Civilians. UN would step in if government did what it takes to win. We would follow no law. The easiest of fire and poison gas is something they won't have. Disease, poison, fire, chemicals, ruthlessness. These are the 5 things you must have to win a war against the strong

war, war never changes

Tell a fire not to burn then come back to me and say that.

fuck off faggot

military would win. bomb all the concentrated populations like NYC and Chicago. The rest will either be scared into submission or be spread so far out that they're easy to defeat.

The amount of sheer estrogen they posses will no doubt weaken antifa cunts. The Armed forces will easily win

kek

you're legitimately retarded if you think this.

There's no feasible way that the military could win. Do they hold a naval/air/technological advantage (in terms of weapons)? Yes. However, the strength of the civilian populace is its sheer size. AT LEAST 1/3 of Americans own a firearm, and even those who don't have access to a firearm in their household could easily obtain once in the case of a civil war-there is an approximate 310 MILLION firearms in the United States, and (likely) more than we can estimate.
Here are some.numbers for you:
If you accounted for National Guard, Reserve, etc. There are about 2.3 million soldiers that could be mobilized within a year.
However, if the populace mobilized, there could be AT LEAST 100 million (if you consider one firearm+person per household were to fight) civilians willing to fight.
Even if only 20 percent decided to fight against the govt, that would be 20 million soldiers vs 2.3 million active military personnel.

20 million civilians* sorry I'm tired and typing on my phone lol

So the military. Made up of ex civilians who have families would just turn around and kill them all... The military would defect and become citizens and erase Washington.
Alas we would win even if they didn't. I personally keep over ten guns in the house which would arm a lot of neighbors. Just because they aren't a gun owner now doesn't mean they won't be.

There'd be sporadic mass defections from the armed forces at the thought of killing Americans = armed armed forces fighting each other, as well as gun nuts taking potshots

You have to realize that if that happened, probably 1/2 the military would defect and 1/2 the civilians would support the government. It wouldn't be nearly as black and white as you think.

Alas, 100 million people aren't worth jack if they are starving because their supermarkets are out of stock. There would be a lot of factors at play you have to consider.

Civilians. Many members of the armed forces take the freedoms of Americans very seriously and would not stand by while the government used them to suppress those freedoms. They armed forces would lose quite a few members to the resistance. Many of those would take what they could to aid in the fight.

Civilians. The military wouldn't fight the people, would lose by default. Of course, this is why the US government is so interested in developing drones and AI.

320 Million Civilians (with atleast 150 Million owning a firearm) vs 2 Million Total US Military Personel

i think you don't understand the mentality of most of the men and women in uniform, as well as underestimate the ability for small groups of focused fighters to stop the war machine.

we can't occupy a shitty desert city for ten years, what the fuck makes you think the military would be able to stop a bunch of pissed off rednecks who shoot for fun? shit man, it only takes a little effort to start a lot of drama.

you can't take freedom from americans at gunpoint, we're too brutish for that. you have to do it with laws, bills, trade deals--you know, because most of us don't fuckin' read.
