it was a gradual decline with some spikes here and there (mainly the financial crisis in 2008 and now the refugee crisis). Also the FPÖ has already been in the government so it's not like they're newcomers. It's the first party that comes to mind when you think of the opposition for the established parties.
Meanwhile the Green Party is still a 10 % party that only has anything to say because they're in a coalition with the socialists in Vienna. It's insane that they have as much influence as they do because the SPÖ keeps shoving everything up their ass, simply because they refuse to do a coalition with over 30 % of their population.
