It's a manga that's been running for 20+ years now, and it's pretty incredible. One of the things that's most interesting about it, is that the author has basically reinvented himself in his style several times throughout the series, while still keeping it true to its roots. During the first 10 volumes (referred to collectively as the "Golden Age" arc), it's basically gritty 80s style manga of purely dark medieval warfare, becoming borderlined historical fiction. but in volumes 11-12+ literally hell opens up and pours itself onto earth evil dead style but in a completely serious manner. Over the next ~5 volumes you have every bit of bad in his world corrupted and risen to full blown demonic rape-fests; corrupt priests burning everyone at the stake, packs of roving goblins kidnapping women, raping and impregnating them to make more monsters, an evil god-emporer who tries to take over the world etc. It then turns into a traditional swords/sorcery fantasy where Guts assembles a team of rag-tag heroes to destroy the five God Hands of hell, one of whom was his best friend and rival during the Golden Age.

Hey guys! What's up?

Hey Zer0!

Not too much, phone's dying on me so looking at replacements.
Was planning on getting the Note 8 when it comes out in ~2 months, but might not be able to make it that long. Galaxy S8+ looks pretty good, though, might be a better fit.

You?

End of Chapter 178

Not a lot, usual shit. What's up with your phone?

Onto 179

...

Lags followed by crashing.
Not the battery, not the SD card. Planning on factory resetting it tomorrow, see if that does it any good.
If not, will probably buy the S8+ Sunday.

Hey 911, what's good?

Is there a new chapter out? Or are we just bullshitting?

Forgot image.

Not until Winter. Last chapter was 351.

Hey there friend. Sorry for being late. Lost track of time.

How are you?

Tonight's easy listening track Is Best of: Tak Matsumoto

If I'd been following it for 20 years I'd probably think it was a lot better. But just reading it over a couple of days, I thought the story was a little slow when it got back to current time. The beginning was very good but the pacing thereafter seemed weak. Very good beginning story though. Reminds me of the night angel

Hey, it's all good.

Not too much other than
You?

The beginning is usually regarded as the best part.
I prefer volumes ~15-20.
Recently it's gotten a little weak, admittedly, but we're always on the optimistic side.
Never read Night Angel, worth a recommendation?

Well I still haven't done anything. So that's good. Foot is feeling better.

How was work?

End of Chapter 179 and end of dump for tonight

Glad to hear the gout's better, feet are important.

Work was decent enough, nothing too unusual.
Only 10 days left.

If you like watching the progression of a character I'd definitely recommend it. It's probably one of my most favorited books.

If you read books like The Wheel of Time, Words of Radiance, The Name of The Wind or things like that you'll definitely enjoy it.

Thanks for dumping.

Do you know any of your classes?

Haven't really been doing much still, playing some games on and off but haven't been able to dedicate myself to them for more than an hour or so. Just browsing boards and stuff right now, you?

I haven't read in a while, but I heard Wheel of Time was excellent, was also recommended to me.
I'll look into those if I get the itch to read again, thanks!

Yup, we got:
Heat & Mass transfer
Chemical Engineering Lab
Fluid Dynamics
Modern Physics
Intro to Chemical Engineering (supposed to take 2 years ago)

Fun.

Mind talking on discord a bit?

The Wheel of Time is seriously fantastic. But only read what you want to, man. It makes it that much more rewarding when you finally come around to it.

You're welcome and good luck.

For a minute or two, was gonna head to bed right away.
Soz

Yeah, my Note 4 has a shit battery. It also lags but it's not nearly as bad as the battery. I'm not sure whether to replace the battery or to just get another one.

That's not the spirit, gotta get the pep back in your step.
Gotta get motivated.

True, there's a ton of things I know would be amazing once I get into them ,but I have a fear of commitment.
Last big commitment was watching Star Trek TNG which was pretty amazing, and well worth the 150 episodes to watch.

How many more years do you have left in college?

I replaced the battery ~1.5 years ago, had it for 3 overall.
It worked great for 3 years, slowed down a little bit when doing a lot on it a few months ago.
Then earlier this week it started to go down the tube.
I used the heck out of it almost every day for as long as I've had it, so I'm not surprised. Looking forward to getting a new one and not being stuck in 2014.

Batteries are pretty cheap, IIRC I bought an OEM one for ~$20.
I'd go for an upgrade and get a new phone, but that's just me.

2 more for Bachelors
1 more after that for Masters
My boss today recommended I look into getting a PhD instead of Masters, so that'd be ~3.5-5 years after Bachelors.
I'm not inclined to get a PhD, but may as well look into it to flesh out my options.

Did you have to take a standardized test midway through your college career before you could take upper level classes?

I did not, where did you hear about that?

I had to take it at my college. It trips a lot of people up. They end up taking it 4 or 5 times wasting money and effort and ultimately having to transfer.

I beat it first try.

Ayy very nice.

That does sound daunting, though.
Probably a thin line between passing and failing.

An extremely thin line.

Jeepers!
I'm glad I didn't go to that college.
