It's the Superbowl

>It's the Superbowl

>you want to run the clock anyways

What do you do in this situation??????????

Let the MVP of the league try to make a play. I don't call plays with the worst in mind like some kind of pussy faggot

they ha a 25 point lead, you cant wittle this down to a single play, tom brady is the greatest quarterback in the history of this sport, if a 25 point lead wasnt enough why would 28 be enough? Brady was going to get them there no matter what

this was a pretty terrible display of clock management by both teams, but much more so by the dirtybirds

>both team
Pats were thinking the right thing

Why would they give the falcons the ball with time left on the clock?

At 28 all, they did. Something close to a minute left. Matty Ice just couldn't ice the game.

>not just running the ball
When will the NFC learn?

why? theres literally no way they would fucking lose lmao. tim bradley got a td and a 2 point conversion and if the falcons just kicked a FG they'd have won.

also who the fuck commits offensive holding in that situation?

That fumble sack really saved the Pats clock management. They were kinda blowing it by running the ball so much but they got lucky with that turnover. Falcons fucked up by not running the ball more too.

listen to direct orders from mr.goodell to protect my job and make sure we dont score

to be fair they were trying to take their time once they got inside the 30, but the falcons just kept giving up 10-20 yards at a time

You fumble, get sacked, and get a holding penalty on the three plays you deside to pass the ball. If you run the ball on any one of those plays, you most likely kick a FG and win the superbowl. There is a difference between being agressive and being a stupid nigger. RUN THE FUCKING BALL. Pic very related.

if you score more points than the other team they win

>also who the fuck commits offensive holding in that situation?
it was either a hold or another sack and possibly a fumble

at least a hold saves the down

Not give a fuck because you're employed by the 49ers tomorrow morning.

it looked like the pats were deciding between killing clock and wanting to save time to get the ball back if they didnt convert the 2 pt conversion. they could have killed more clock on that scoring drive if they wanted to

Matty Ice was the MVP of the league and he was destroying the Pats defense all night. The choice to pass tonight wasn't nearly as dumb as the seahawks

>at 28 all

I was talking about the pats wwhen they were trying to shorten the clock so when they tied the game they can kick it with some seconds left to matty iced

Call timeout and call Andy Reid for advice

You can point to three plays that lost the game for the dirtybirds. Fumble, sack, holding penatly....run the fucking ball, kick the FG, and win the superbowl. its that simple.

why GOATkowski been missing so many extra points lately? he holds records for most consecutive made, he has 20 straight field goals, hes one of the greatest kickers ever (every tim bradley SB win needs a GOAT kicker), whats up with him and extra points?

>7 step drop on 3rd and 1 with multiple deep routes when all you need is a safe throw to get a first
>get sacked, fumble

>7 step drop on 2 and 11 at the 23 looking for a deep route when all you need is to have a safe play
>get sacked

that was the biggest mental choke job i've ever seen by a coach/qb combo, truly impressive

After having to listen to "muh brotherhood" all week I'm glad to see these fucks lose

>3rd and 33
>a field goal wins it

"I know! I'll go for the first!" Not too bright desu

hindsight sure does make your argument strong

>Pats defense all night.

Didn't he only have about 24 attempts? They really didn't rely on him tonight.

There is no excuse to pass the ball on those plays. The Seahawks made a bad playcall on one play. The Falcons that mistake three times. Your kicker is money from anything closer than 50 yards. Run the ball on any one of those plays and you'd win the game. If I was the niners i'd be shitting myslef for hiring that stupid asshole. Worst offensive playcalling of all time.

Yeah but he was money when he was throwing

God made him miss to make it a little harder on the pats. You know, to give the falcons a fair handicap.

ever heard of strategy, faggot? it was dumb to try to pass long on a fucking 3rd and 1. That was the game right there. Glad you're not the coach of my team.

It was becaue they had 2 TOs left to the Falcons 0. You could tell they wanted to win it in regulation with how fast they were getting to the line under 2 min left

>If you run the ball on any one of those plays
You fumble, get stuffed, or get a holding penalty.

Running the ball isn't inherently safer than passing the ball if you're up against a defense worth a fuck.

Falcons played too hard in the first half and wore themselves out

Brady was carving the fuck outta that D after they ran out of gas

You can always say hindsight is 20\20. But the simple fact is the correct choice on all those plays is to run the ball. instead you fumble, get sacked, and get a holding penalty. You have one of the best kickers in the NFL, and one FG wins you the superbowl. It is that simple.

hindsight? do you understand football? Atlanta literally could have ran the ball twice, gained no yards, and kicked 40 yard FG to make it a 2 score game to basically end the game. And it eats time which is exactly what they want to do!

But IF you gonna throw, do something quick and/or safe not fucking chuck it deep. This is basically shit. Atlanta was playing like they were down 8 instead of up 8

>doing the obvious play against the GOAT coaching mind in football BILL BELICHICK
nah man you'll be damned if you do and damned if you don't against the Hoodie One classic chase of overthinking it so much that you end up under thinking it

most of the times coaches do what they've been doing all year out superstition and practicality just watch the Seahawks/Patriots Owl as an example.

that play at the end was a play they ran all year so they should execute fairly well... sadly the Hoodie knew this

or take it to basketball that Ray Allen shot against the Spurs to win game 6 happened with Tim Duncan on the bench. you might be wondering why Pop sat Timmy in the dying minutes of a game, well he preferred closing out game with Tiago that year because Duncan sat out they missed his presence in winning a rebound to close the game the Heat got the ball out to Allen and the rest is history

Dan Quinn is a good coach he turned around that franchise around. Falcons got unlucky that they're only turnover was the one that cost them the game. He also likes quick and speedy defense, well they got gassed by the end of the game and Patriots went in hard but out of previous experiences cause that Atlanta team is young. They played good though.

He was but he was sacked a bunch of times too. The Patriots actually had better pressure on him throughout the game compared to the Falcons on Brady.

its got a hell of a lot smaller chance of losing yards than passing does

remember they were already in field goal range, all they had to do was NOT lose a shit ton of yards

>if not the best kicker in the league

Kek how do people even say this. Tucker is EASILY the best kicker in the game and unlike Bryant tucker constantly kicks outside of a dome in colder weather

Clearly I let my MVP quarterback throw the ball, because I am a horrible and inexperienced coach who will never truly succeed in life.

>objectively giving yourself the best chance to win (FG is 80+% from there even if they don't gain any yards with their stud RBs
>hindsight

Atlanta could have run the ball, fumbled, and the pats d could have took it to the house. But nobody considers the worst when they make their calls because that is fucking retarded

Easy to say after the fact, but watch the 2014 NFC championship game. Packers ran the ball in those situations and ended up losing in OT.

>FG is 80+% from there

making up stats

It is entirely more dangerous to pass the ball, there are more things that can go wrong when you drop your QB back and put the ball in the air. I'm not saying you stop being agressive, but at a certain point you need to realize running the ball and kicking a field goal gives you a better chance to win.

>Well, it's quite obvious that on both 3rd down plays I will try to pass it instead of running because it's rigged for the patriots to win and we have to pass.

Bryant was 9-9 from 40-49 yards and 9-10 from 30-39 this year. He's automatic from closer range which is all that matters given it would have been a 40 yarder

Completely irrelevant considering the Packers havent had a shit of a running game in years, and they were going against one of the best running defenses of all time. Falcons were runming the ball well all night, and even if the run doesn't work, you still kick a FG and win the game. There is a difference between being agressive and being a retard. Run the fucking ball.

Then the fg gets blocked and returned for a td. WHY DIDNT HE THROW THE BALL AND STAY AGGRESSIVE FUCKING CONSERVATIVE IDIOT

you play the odds in that situation you moron. you have a much lower chance of fumbling than of getting sacked OR intercepted. Not only that but you could run a good pass play and still turn it over with a tipped ball. Throwing is inherently riskier in that situation. It's just obvious since youre already in FG range with one of the most accurate kicker in the league.

And again, you completely ignored my point that throwing wasn't the only problem it's that they were trying to throw 20+ yards down field which led to the sack, fumble and sack again. Atlanta destroys teams with quick hitters to their RBs or WRs and they completely went away from it.

Falcons were not unlucky. They handed the superbowl over to the Pats by not running the ball. If you kick a FG, you win the game. It's as simple as that.

damn you're right, I actually UNDERSOLD how good Bryant is.

he was a perfect 9-9 from 40-49 yards this year. and 9-10 from 30-39 yards. They were at the 23 yd line before Ryan got sacked on 2nd down.

QED

espn.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/kicking

>If you kick a FG, you win the game.

not true but ok

This exactly. There are certain times in a game where you take risks and be aggressive. Those passes they called were the exact time where you don't do that. Theres a huge difference between a 16 point lead and a 19 point lead. Same with an 8 point lead versus an 11 point lead. You have to play the numbers. It called being a good coach.

11 point game with 3 minutes left (or 340 if Patriots called TO on a 3rd down run). The game's over.

If you go up two scores with under 3 minutes your chances to win are over 99%. Thats a fact. Obviously nothing is certain, especially if your facing Tom Brady. But theres no denying running the ball and kicking a FG gave you the best chance to win.

Atlanta played like they were down 8 instead of up 8. It made no sense. Even the Julio play is an example of that. Why are you relying on a perfect pass 30 yards downfield in that situation? A little underthrown and that's picked.

That same mentality to throw down field is what cost them the game more than anything.

Completely agree with this. As a Falcons fan I was pissed off at how badly they threw this game away.

who's to say running was going to end up in positive yardage?

Coleman fucked up with ankle, maybe Freeman couldn't handle the workload was gased. we don't know everything the coaching staff do and even then they don't know whats going on. there's tons of pressure flying at you in such a brief amount of time. most of the time you make a decision at that level it goes right you're praised a hero if you fuck up you're an idiot

they probably thought since Freeman and their running game kept scorching the Patriots defense then they use him as decoy to get one of their receivers open for a big play. you can tell they were worried about a Brady comeback.

>You Either Die A Hero, Or You Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become The Villain

I know. Not arguing that Bryant isn't a great kicker

The Falcons were above 99% chance of winning in the game

take that dick out of your mouth, kid.

>who's to say running was going to end up in positive yardage?

It never needed to considering they were already in field goal range. Hell they could've busted out the kicking unit on 1st down and had a better chance of winning.

Pretty much exactly this,

Packers decided to run the ball and Seattle ended up winning the game through shear desperation and luck.

it would have been a 40 yd FG with no extra yardage. Matt Bryant is near automatic from that distance with weather not a factor. (9/9 from 40-49 this year)

Even if the run play loses yards you still kick a FG and easily win the game. Trying to be a hero is exactly what lost them the game. And if you are an NFL coach getting paid millions of dollars your job is to call the play that gives your team the best chance to win, regardless of how much pressure there is. Any casual football fan would know the right thing to do is run the ball, mathematically it gives you a much higher chance to win. They had three chances to make the right playcall, and they blew it all three times.

Exactly. It's mind-blowing how lucky the Patriots get with opposing coaches turning into complete boneheads. Just run the ball, kick the FG, and you win the game. Furthermore, why are you still snapping the ball with 20 seconds on the play clock when you're up by 16 with 8 minutes left in the game? Poor idiot could have been immortalized, and now he'll probably never get another chance.

HOW DO YOU BLOW A 25 POINT LEAD

There was some interview with Tom Brady where he said that during his 4 game suspension it was the first time he watched football when it was cut together as game tape and he said he was surprised by how many teams lower their own chances of winning a game

No playcall is ever 100%. What im saying is they had three chances to make the correct playcall in terms of percenatges and all three times they went against the percentages... And the Packers had no run game and were facing arguably the best run defense of all time, it is a diffrent situation entirely.

*when it wasn't cut together

86/110 for his career and he almost had two extra points blocked in this game, so I wouldn't really call it automatic.

dude just go watch some porn that always makes the losing team's fans feel better. don't believe me just look at the stats and traffic flow on the internet based on cities

idk if you're a disappointed and angry Falcons fan but your team played well. you should be happy your shitty franchise made it to the super bowl and didn't get blown out. that would have been a real embarrassment. hold your head up high in a lose bro, you'll feel better

now back to the football... he could have still missed the kick. nothing is guaranteed. Gostkowski missed his extra point attempt something in theory should be easier. now you can excuse him for recovering from an injury but it is what it is, a gamble.

>Any casual football fan would know the right thing to do is run the ball, mathematically it gives you a much higher chance to win.
Both Belichick and Quinn know this but just like in poker you tend to get cheeky and start trying to be fancy in outwitting the other guy. i agree running would have been better but hey i'm not getting paid to be the coach.

>kicking field goal
>on a 3rd down with 1 yard to go

are you fucking retarded? If he misses then you're posting the same thread with
>why didn't he just pass the ball and get more yardage before kicking

hindsight is 20/20

Exactly. As a coach you need to have at least some understanding of analytics. There are times you need to go against the percentages and be agressive, up 8 points with 3 minites left in the superbowl is the exact wrong time to do that.

desu the Seahawks offense had been shut down for 55 minutes. The defense then had a nuclear meltdown.

>Both Belichick and Quinn know this but just like in poker you tend to get cheeky and start trying to be fancy in outwitting the other guy.

In poker there are times when a certain play is just the optimal play and nothing else is better. I'm not necessarily saying that this was one of those times, but running the ball would've at the very least been a good play. And yes I am a salty Falcons fan, but I'm more salty over how badly the game was just thrown away. I'd rather have the Pats blow the Dirty Birds out than getting my hopes up for nothing.

New England was 4th in run defense and 23rd in pass defense this year. Seattle was 2nd in rush and 3rd in pass in 2014.

This is what I saw too. Atlanta should have been milking that clock like there was no tomorrow. Why snap it so early?

It's much safer to run than to pass, plus they were in field goal range. It also eats up clock for a few plays, then you can get the easy field goal and give Brady the ball with 2 minutes left and a two score game.

I wanted him to run the ball before that awful play progression even started

you're poker analogy is flat out retarded

what the falcons did was the equivalent of having a monster chip advantage heads up and then pissing it was away by calling a bunch of all-ins in a row with rags

>I am a salty Falcons fan, but I'm more salty over how badly the game was just thrown away.
>I'm more salty over how badly the game was just thrown away.
>how badly the game was just thrown away.
>just thrown away.
>just
>thrown
>away

yup, operative word choice right there.

sorry about your team's loss. at least you played better than the Panthers and didn't lose to a giant forehead attached to HGH/PED induced carcass

Both of those defenses were the best in the leauge in terms of scoring defense. The simple fact is it's 3rd and 1. Run the ball. But no, you deside to get fancy and you fucking fumble . Then you get back in fieldgoal range and have a chance to put the game away with a fieldgoal. Instead you make the same mistake, two times in two plays. At least Pete Carrol made this mistake only once, Kyle Shannahan did it three fucking times. If you run the ball one time in those three plays you give yourself a chance a FG that will win the game.

This was the call of the game.

The got the first down thabks to julio. Im thinking game over.

A bunch of girls are looking at me for my football expertise.

I say "its over. Expect to see 3 runs and a field goal"

They all shake there heads and say yeah. 1st down they run.

But then it dawns on me. Faggy ice. Niggerlanta. Memebowl.

>The cutrrent timeline.

I quickly say, "if they try and throw it here that would be a huge mistake"

They line up. Empty backfield. Sack.

Phew. Mememagic nearly made me look like a football fraud. Thank god i made the last second caveat. The girls were impressed. Everyone kept asking for my opinion all night.

is this the part, I answer back with, "no, you're the retard!"?

>says analogy is retarded but still completes said analogy for OP, proving that very analogy works

hey Belichick was calling out his bluffing all-in ass that defensive pressure and the kicker was Brady

and if Spygate and deflatgate is any indication to how the Patriots work then you know Bill was counting cards

kek

You can't live in your fears of missing a FG in that moment. They were at the 23 yard line with 2nd down.

>A bunch of my wife's sons

Fixed that for you

Exactly. Three runs and a FG gives you highest percentage of winning the game every time in that situation. And who's to say you don't break a run for 30 yards and score a TD anyway. But Kyle Shannahan had to show everyone how big is dick is and try to throw a touchdown. He's a dumb asshole and the Falcons derserve to lose that game.

Your 100% right. Any retard who has watched any amount of football knows that is the exact way you call that series every single time. I don't care about hindsight and all that shit, passing the ball gives a lower chance to win the game. its that simple. But for some reason the Falcons couldn't get the playcall right, even though they had three chances to do so.

Hurr durr durr i'm the MVP. Lets throw the ball. Fuckin faggy ice.

ATL only had 43 offensive plays. They passed over half.

I can't really tell whether it was

>defense was worn out after playing so hard for 3 quarters
Or
>young inexperienced team and coach just let off the gas after a 25 point lead and entered garbagetime mode

The second is more plausible. They forgot it was Brady on the other side of the ball. Once the momentum swung and it was an 8 point game you could tell Matt Ryan had no more will to win. He should've been audibling into runs every play after the 3 minute mark. But the falcons are huge chokers, I've been saying this for as long as they've been contenders. Ever since that divisional game Against the giants.

>Your defense gets BTFO 2 times in the same game by Tom Brady
>Leave quietly after the offense shit's the bed
>Start 5-0 with new team and end season in mediocrity.
>Lose to Tom Brady again in the greatest comeback ever

Lol Is DQ done?

I've never seen a QB look more rattled than Matt Ryan tonight. The sack was a choke.

Both him and DQ go down in infamy.

FAL C U C KS BTFO

>>You have one of the greatest offenses ever
Being good one year doesnt constitute shit except a fluke.

>GOATkowski
More like CUCkowski now.

Matt Ryan : 0 superbowl wins

No guarantee that a FG locks it up. Patriots intentionally burned clock (ate about 2 extra minutes) on their tying drive, which they wouldn't have done if they were down 11. They most likely would have still gotten the ball back with enough time for Brady to get them in field goal range and 2 time outs.

If they had taken the FG there literally wasn't enough time for Tim Brody to score twice
