Former 11B here. Save up your money bro. Infantry doesn't translate into anything in the civilian world. And milk that GI Bill when you get out too.

>21

Yeah that's my plan. I'm just gonna hog all my money until I get out and have a little egg saved up to a trade school or some shit.

honestly 35k at 24 is trash. did you enter recently or something? shouldn't someone who went into the military at 18 make more than that by 24? i feel like you should've already used the GI bill to start college at this point. people out of the military with college degrees can make 60k easy in some bullshit government contracting job

I've always thought UX would be a fun career. A good mix of creativity, technology, and science. Pay seems low though. From what I saw entry-level UX (masters-level anyways) starts around $70K/yr. Something like an Art Director should be making $90-100K/yr.

I always wonder where this guy is on Sup Forums whenever someone posts the fifteenth "rate my cock thread" that hour.

I've been at it for 11 years, the first 4 being paid at near minimum wage. It's not for everyone.

What's good:
>unionized with benefits(Med, Dental, Annuity)
>OT if you work more than 8 hours, daily
>OT all day if you work Saturday
>DT on Sundays or holidays
>No clock, honor system

The bad:
>Asshole co-workers
>Asshole clients
>Brutal summer heat(I drink a gallon and a half of Gatorade daily)
>I forget to eat sometimes trying to finish all my jobs.
>Pain that stays with you long after your done working.

Attention to detail is a MUST. You can fuck a whole job with one bad measurement. You have to be able to endure hours of constant heavy lifting, and being yelled at if you're a screw up.

I've seen boys and men alike quit within the first hour of working. I needed those benefits, so I dealt with the bullshit. I was gonna quit in my fourth year, but then my boss suddenly promoted me from schlepper to skillman. But I'm the exception. I've seen many men never get ahead in this field, and it all comes down to attitude and competence. And we watch closely how the greenhorns deal with the labor. I was 145lbs when I started, now I'm 250lbs. You WILL bulk up doing this work, which is nice.

We're all gonna make it brah.

Every. Fucking. Day.

Why do we have you in these threads everyday plz kys

Well, in Cleveland overall cost of living is a bit lower. Additionally it's not just UI/UX I do, but general graphic design as well (web design, brand identity, print, trade show displays, social media, etc.).

Trust me, I'd love to be making 6-figures right now, but for this region I'm doing better than average.

Additionally, my company has grown from 4 people when I started to now 20+ only 4 years later. We've already taken over half of the floor in my office building, so I'm simply staying along for the ride as we grow and hopefully justify much higher wages.

Still though, if I keep my casinos happy, I can get away with working less than 20 hours in a week.
