Catholic/pol/, is sleeping around and fucking girls degenerate? All my friends are doing it and it looks like a lot of fun and looks like it feels good
Carson Richardson
I'm just hoping the thread takes off nicely.
Why yes.
Tyler Collins
Stop LARPing you fucking nerdy loser.
John Evans
But why? Societal norms says nobody stays chaste
Jeremiah Flores
Fuck off, Wolfy. This belongs over on . It doesn't really matter. You can just ask Jesus for forgiveness later, he'll be cool about it.
Hunter Hernandez
I've had 2 partners and had pre-marital sex with them. Personally I ask for forgiveness everyday for the sins I committed with them. I'm waiting now till marriage to have sex. I've had it plenty of times before and it was hallow and I never felt good afterwards. That was because I was tarnishing the process of creating life. I don't judge others on sleeping around because I've done it before. God will be their judge, but that doesn't mean they should stay willingly ignorant of their constant sin.

I was born and raised a Catholic but never really cared and became a fedora. I want to read the bible properly but which version is recommended? I know KJV gets namedropped a lot but isn't it for Protestants?
James Torres
KJV is the only one you should read. It's mostly a bunch of boring drivel and the parts where things actually happen make very little since. Goddamn, kikes have the most non-sensical myths.
Kevin Adams
KJV is protestant and shouldn't be read. I don't know the international version but I have the New American Bible version and the catechisms of the catholic church.
Remember, your interpretation of the bible might not be how the holy mother church interprets it.
Joshua Powell
Good day Wolfie, actually just came on to Sup Forums to see if you were going to make a Catholic General. I've finally been baptized into the Catholic Church as well as taken part in communion for the first time. And I just wanted to give another big thank you for helping me with all my questions when I was thinking of converting, and peaking my interest in Catholicism over other denominations in the first place.
God bless man.

In regards to finding an appropriate Bible, what you should be looking for are bibles that include the Apocryphal or Deuterocanonical books in them. These parts are cut out in all Protestant bibles and I believe that is the main difference between our Bibles. And I'm sure plenty of Protestant bibles change a few things such as the body and blood of Christ to figurative language or something.
Nicholas Perez
So what happens to unbaptized babies again? I've been out of the theological loop for a few centuries.
Jason Ramirez
hi, you still here?
Logan Cook
A lot of societal norms have become degenerate in nature. Societal norms also have college aged students drinking/smoking/other forms of drugs all in the same night.
You mean dead unbaptized babies?
Nolan Powell
Societal norms do not dictate what is right and wrong nor what is best for people and society. The core of the issue is the dislocation from love and, to a degree, a dislocation from humanity's own dignity. To put a person forward sexually before anything else or solely hurts the dignity of the person being viewed. It hurts communication and how people in society view one another. Further, as Sup Forums would constantly espouse, the growth of acceptance of sexuality has led to a growth of empty hedonism and falling apart of families in society and has done considerable damage because of it.
And society, at large, says that people largely do not stay abstinent, not chaste.
Welcome back and thanks for the bump.
The KJV has a beautiful, poetic translation but ultimately is lacking in books. It's a Protestant Bible. At best you can find one that includes those books but labels them in their own section.
Now I do not promote reading scripture purely out of hand - I heavily promote having secondary sources so you can grasp intention along with the genre and structure of the specific books in the Bible as well. The New American Bible and Douay Rheims Bibles are both respectable in my opinion - the latter being moreso - but I'm one for heavily recommending study bibles so you can learn more.
I would recommend the Ignatius Study Bible.
No problem, man. I greatly appreciate the kind words. I'm not quite sure what to even say. Just, thank you, man. And if there's anything else I can assist with do ask.
The poor people...

Hey wolf can you provide an answer to pic related? It would really help cut the spamming on /his/

These days it's understood that they go to Heaven.
Limbo was theorized because the Church used to be very hard about needing to be cleansed of Original Sin before entering Heaven. However, they realized that God wouldn't forever withhold himself from infants just because they had the bad luck to die before being baptized.

Hello, brothers and sisters. Peace be with you. Hope you've had a blessed Pentecost.
In the interest of learning more about each other, who's your confirmational saint? Or if you weren't confirmed with a saint's name, who's the saint you pray to the most?
I knew even in middle school that I wanted to be a writer, so I picked St. Francis de Sales. I think he's the reason I've become, as far as I can tell, quite a good writer.
John Smith

They are but it's very distinct like an orthodox would like to be called orthodox christian. As for the multitude of people they hold them very high up, Yada yada. >This is bullshit and you know it. >You don't get a jail out of free card with confession. No, that's exactly how it is. Just pray and repent, Jesus forgives. Remember the thief on the cross. Remember that whore Jesus stopped from being stoned.
Aaron White
>how does one resist temptation? Probably the best way is to avoid the temptation.
That being said College has a lot of drinking and women that will probably seduce you. Try to remember not to engage in it. But if you do pray for forgiveness and this should help you do better in the future. Just don't go around actively trying to sin, try your best to avoid it. And if you fall, seek reconciliation and try stay away from sinner with renewed vigor.
>who's your confirmational saint I got baptized yesterday and my confirmational saint was St Martin of Tours. I've always had a soft spot for beggars/homeless and when looking up a Saint I found that he had big roots in Italy, Spain and France all of which I have strong nationalism for and love with a passion. Found him however because he was Patron Saint of Soldiers and I just wanted to read up on that.
Jaxon Brooks
>and that has helped.
Not really given that God is perfectly just in the gifts and punishments he delivers. Praying for intercession is more about keeping community with the Saints rather than actually getting them to influence God.
Jayden Hall
>female deacons It has begun

I went to mass last night for the first time in about 10 years. The mass seemed so weak and feminine. The singing was all kumbaya shit and it made me not enjoy being there as much as I should.
What is a high latin mass like? There is one every fortnight in my city that I think I will go to.
Does anyone else hate the Kumbaya shit and how do you deal with it?
Aaron Bell
I was taught that praying for intercession was a show of faith on your part. You have faith that God will work especially through those that had faith in him.
Jonathan Bennett

Go to a different church. A lot depends on the priest and tradition. Not sure about Straya but in the US there are still a lot of fire and brimstone churches. Personally, I go to something in between the two, with plenty of song but also solemnity.
Ayden Jenkins
High Masses are extremely traditional, and much more masculine.
However, remember, you go to Mass primarily to receive the Eucharist and to commune with Christ. It shouldn't be about feeling strong and manly.
Joseph Scott
>I was taught that praying for intercession was a show of faith on your part.
Exactly
You have faith that God will work especially through those that had faith in him.
*have* faith in him not had. If God assisted you it was through the Holy Spirit not Saints.
Hudson Nguyen
>St. Martin. Based cloak cutter. That he was.
Brandon Green
It seems most in Australia are like this
Yes I still did enjoy the experience and it's not about feeling masculine per se, but more about achieving a deeper level of connection with God whilst there. I'll definitely check out the High Mass then.

>I already have this flag What is a Sup Forumsster doing in such a tiny province
Matthew Lopez
You try, and try, and keep trying, asking God for strength.
Then along the way you'll fail, and sin.
Then you go to Confession and receive absolution for your sin.
Then you start trying again.
On and on until you die. That's how it will always be.
Matthew Miller
>I'm going to need a better explanation, other than to keep it in and avoid degeneracy. I know that robbing old people is wrong, but what do you do???

Dunno, I studied in Sweden and while living there I realised that Sweden is a muslim infested shithole, so I moved back here. Sure it may not be a lively place and it may be a bit incestous. But it's gated and white as fuck!
Connor Allen
I assume you mean to ask what happened to the unbaptized babies that die? For quite some time there was never a solid argument one way or another. Limbo was a name for a position theorized where one did not merit the struggle of Hell and yet has original sin which keeps up from beatific vision (Heaven). This was never dogma but generally the best answer the early church fathers largely gave based on what they knew of the situation. The church maintains a "hopeful" position while unofficially accepting the works of the church fathers over the century. They are by no means punished.
But, of course, I must remind you of the forms of baptism. The formal baptism we all know of is just a form it can take.
I can't say I'm fully versed in all the details of Vatican II so I'd really have to refocus on specific innovations in ecclesiastic practice.
There's much misunderstood of innovations - "Traditionalist Catholics" and Orthodox being in the position usually of thinking that Vat. II brought about doctrinal shifts for the sake of modernization - but generally I can only take it on as a case-by-case basis. Even if I were more well versed in Vat. II overall it would take too much work to do justice to the council overall.
At least you bumped the thread.
>Wolf, how does one resist temptation?
I hope you know how big and varied that question is. Ultimately all that can be said to something that big is to having self-control.
One thing I see laypeople in the faith do is take Catholicism's way of life in a penal sense. "I have to obey these rules". It's given in a rules sense to be starting steps towards your transformation by the Holy Spirit. Ultimately, it is about seeking virtue through wrestling with your own issues to achieve our own natural fulfillment in Christ.
"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." -Jesus Christ, John 15:11
I could go into it further if you have questions
Zachary Price
>I can't say I'm fully versed in all the details of Vatican II so I'd really have to refocus on specific innovations in ecclesiastic practice.
What about innovation in general and the position and role of the church fathers? Do you think they Orthdox have a better claim to upholding the original teachings of the apostles?
Jeremiah Sanders
It was a Sunday evening mass so there wasn't many people there, but on average I would guess about 50-60, a few young people that were there with families but mostly middle age and older.
Andrew Gonzalez
have you noticed that at other churches/times or do you think that was just specific to those circumstances?
Zachary Powell
What should someone exploring Catholicism do if they have sins too big to confess ? I get that Christ forgives everything but I have to go through a priest and I've done pretty evil shit in my past that bothers me now that I am getting a conscience.
Landon Barnes
Yeah seems like thats normal, but then again I havent been in years. The few young people I know that are religious all seem to be into hillsong which isn't my thing.
I might go to the bigger parishes and check out what the crowd there is like.
Nathaniel Collins
Hillsong is pretty freaky stuff.
Ian Hill
Have no fear whatsoever. Whatever you've done, it's not the worst the priest has heard. And yes, Christ DOES forgive everything. Have hope.
Jace James
>, it's not the worst the priest has heard
Well unless he does prison ministry it might be
Jordan Jenkins
Orthodox allowed to respectfully participate? Not to debate, just to share in appreciating the commonalities of our tragically separated Churches.
Adam Barnes
Whatever you've done, it doesn't matter. If you have sorrow and repent, it will be forgiven. That's Christ's promise. And the priest won't judge you. He's there to help, not to condemn.
Parker Barnes
Of course you're allowed.
Jaxson Stewart
Of course !
It's current year and we've got a lot bigger issues to deal with than fussing over some church politics.
Brandon Nguyen
Bear in mind that secrecy of confession is not binding under secular law and they can and will report you if you have committed a crime or are about to or at least be brought before a court for evidence.
Jeremiah Clark
Out of curiosity if you post on /his/ what are your thoughts on Constantine the trip poster?

Isaac Murphy
Cool, thanks. There's a parish 2 minutes from my home that I visited a little while back for a weekday mass in the evening, since my Orthodox parish is 30 minutes away in good traffic (weekday evenings it's about 90 minutes). I was feeling pretty drained that day and my parish isn't big enough to hold Vespers every evening (and I can't make it to those anyway as I mentioned due to traffic). Even though the Mass was far shorter than what I'm used to I found it pretty cool that I could still find many commonalities, such as the three Aleluias after the Gospel reading. I didn't partake in communion of course but it was nice to be in the company of Christians that day. I might start coming regularly on weekdays. Is that unusual?
Also, there's another parish a few minutes away that holds the Latin Tridentine Mass every Sunday. Worth a visit? I've heard it's as beautiful and perhaps even more awe-inspiring than the Divine Liturgy we use.
Henry Davis
I don't hang out on /his/ so I wouldn't know. What's he like?

>The term Judaism was taken up by Talmudists >Jews today are followers of Judaism. >Judaism = Talmudist. >Jesus talks shit about Talmudists >People on Sup Forums equate Jesus with the Jews of today >Jesus talked shit about what the Jews of today follow

That's BS priests have heard the most fucked up things. They only report it when there is child abuse going on. They won't turn you in for stealing from the grocery or killing your dog.

Please go on. How does one resist sexual temptation? Obviously these are dark times and women are as tempting as ever. It's easy to resist porn and masturbation, but it's harder to resist women around you. Is abstinence so important?
